Should there be an RPG zelda game?

Im a fan of most rpgs like anything from mario rpg to FF to pokemon.

And the sonic chronicles: dark brotherhood.

so if sonic the hedgehog can get his own RPG, why not zelda?

Im a huge fan of zelda, and somethings could really go with the rpg style.

I think it would be a great idea. wouldnt it?

I've never been against this, I always thought it sounded like a good idea, so yes I wouldn't mind seeing a Zelda RPG. The game could just be that much more in depth, it would be amazing.

Okay define RPg cause I always thought Zelda was aand RPG.

It would be an awesome idea. Not turned based though, but more of an actionRPG. You'd have to do it right though, cause with final fantasy out there it would be hard to surpass its greatness in the territory of RPGs. But if they could make a truly epic tale that could rival the likes of FF then let's do it.

There already is a Zelda RPG. It's called "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link".

Zelda II was an rpg but it had tons of platforming to it too. It wasnt a true definition of an rpg. Yes you made improvements to magic and health, but it wasnt truly leveling up. I would want a unique leveling up system for zelda. a mixture between a dungeon crawler leveling up system with its weapons upgrades and such, and FF with attributes. Then throw in the puzzle aspect and fighting mechanics of the 3d zelda's and i think it could be an epic game.

You have to define what kind of rpg you want. The Zelda series needs a story line for certain reasons. It would be cool if you could do some dungeons in different orders to what you want but there would be some in depth design to that because you get certain weapons at certain times so it all depens

By all means, but I don't want the series to turn into an rpg. Maybe just one or two...

A hand held Zelda RPG would be nice. 2D.

You wouldn't be restricted to be that class for that race though. Just the defaults maybe.

Allow me to DEFINE the genres.

RPG: It is short for role-playing game, but it isn't really used to refer to a game by that alone. People actually use it to refer to games such as Final Fantasy, Super Mario RPG, Tales of Series, etc. In an RPG when you go to battle, you often go into a separate battle screen to duke it out.

Action-Adventure: Also can be used to refer to many genres, but a lot of people tend to refer it to a game where you're in an overworld and attack enemies from there, instead of going into a separate battle screen. Examples include Legend of Zelda, Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Animal Crossing in some manner.

Side-Scroller: Instead of having the ability to explore a world in 360-degrees, you are limited to scrolling in a 'side world' in a side-scroller. This genre often has a mix of other genres added to it. For example, Zelda II: Adventures of Link is a mix of side-scroller and action-adventure. Other examples include New Super Mario Bros, Sonic, Super Smash Bros, Wario World.

All good ideas, I was thinking of an awsome story that probably wont happen but listen.


Link(from TP) finds himself in the Mirror temple(like a new temple) and A man (could be Raal or some other guy) tells him about the link to another dimension. Like another hyrule sorta, then Toon(or WW) link finds himself on an Isle where the mirror temple seems to be still standing.

Both links learn about eachother and right before they even go through the alternate dimensions, something is happening at hyrule temple, (in TP hyrule),


this game would feature:

Master sword and others
A new mirror item maybe like the main item of the game.

and the story would be simply this:

"Zelda and link find themselves a new adventure, when link opens the doors to the mirror temple, in another dimension where all of hyrule has sunken, young toon link find a new isle where there is a mirror temple aswell. Weird things start happening, could this be the Last stand of Ganondorf, or is it something even deeper...."

Can an RPG be an RPG without random battles? Because I really hate those. I prefer the normal Zelda style of run up and slice the enemy.

A future Zelda RPG would be interesting, however Zelda fights are supposed to be real time, and not turned based. Good idea, but actual application wouldn't be so much.

Those do exist.

Paper Mario 64, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Sega.

There's others I'm sure, but that's all I can think of. I'm just saying that it is possible.

Edit: Real-time RPGs ALSO exist. But a lot of people do not like real-time based RPGs and prefer turn-based so that they actually have time to think about what their next option is.

I think they could take some AoL ideas, the leveling up for example.

A more complex weapons system too... it would be nice to break out of the find-cheep-sword-until-you-get-awesome(or master)-sword-1/4-through-the-game. You could find swords, and shields more regularly... a là early FF.

However Zelda should never be a turned based in my opinion.

Zelda series in general may be considered an action-adventure RPG... but it would be interesting to have more RPG. (Especially experience/leveling up)

i think a 2d zelda game would be cool,,,,, i mean like a 2d to a 3d like sonic rush, of course for the ds
