link or no link!!!!!!

ive heard lots of people say that they want a completly new style zelda game with lots of new stuff. i agree,,,,,,,,,, but lots of them said they want a new character besides link, I DONT AGREE WITH THAT!!!!!!!!If there was no link in the game that means that its not a legend of zelda game and as much as i love zelda games i would never play it if there was no link, what do you think your opinion is? would you prefer to play as a new character in the zelda series or stick with the same legendary link???

Just because it doesn't have Link does not mean it isn't a Zelda game. Consider the fact that in most of the games you name the main character, so really his name doesn't have to be Link, thus creating numerous instances in which Link isn't in it. And they are still Zelda games.

I would be disappointed if it didn't have Link.

Imagine doing a James Bond movie... without Bond?

Part of the reason Zelda I like Zelda, is because I want to see what will happen to Link, what twists will Nintendo try to make to make Link not live the EXACT same story.

Link is the main character of the zelda games, how can you take out your main character and still have a game let a lone a story line at alll

Well the idea is to take Link out and replace him with someone else. That being said I think we should stick with Link. Change him around maybe (gender options maybe) but it should still be Link.

Zelda doesn't need Link.

I'm the guy that thinks Valley of Deluge would be the best Zelda ever.

Well it wouldn't make sense, the legend of zelda is the story of their the souls of gannon, zelda and link tied together by destiney across the generations. Unless you were able to play as zelda and save link, which seems kind of lame and preachy, you would have to break this bond in order to include a new main character. in turn this would mean no triforce and no zelda for if link does not exist, neither can she.

What if there was more than one playable character? You could play as Link sometimes, and then another character for different parts of the game. I think it would create some great new variations on the Zelda formula.

That might be nice... but then I'd end up only like playing one of the characters and hate the game the rest of the time.

It would be cool to beat the game with Link or someone else. You could choose at the beginning. Or you could only play with Link the first time, then unlock another character to play a second time. They would probably have different abilities... so that could mean 2 totally different set of dungeons, and the story would be in a totally different point of view.

The stories of both characters would cross here and there... it could be grand!

yeah that would be cool, first playing with link and then a different character unlocked after beating the game, with different points of view, it could be a 2 story mode game in the same hyrule, and in each characters story, for example links.,,
could see the other character in the game, chand the other character in the game, after beating links story, would also meet with link,it would be cool if the different character could be a hero , but not the chosen one(link)... or the different character could be dark link.

It would be nice if when you played through the game with all the dungeons the first time (as Link), you couldn't get to every room even with all of the items. Then the second time, you get a new character / item for completion / new side character, and you can replay the whole game identically - only with the new ability and being able to fully explore the dungeons. I'd love that.

Link is just a character that was thrown into the game, becoming a hero without him like, knowing alot. In fact, he is actually being used in some way.

Is the bond we have now realy Bond. Just as long as he is a swords man I will be happy.

Well, the Link we have now isn't "really" link, they are different, like Bond could be.

I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of not having Link, but I would rather have a Zelda where you unlock a character by beating the game with Link, then you can play through the game with a character with different abilities... or simply you could choose between two characters at the beginning. As I mentioned earlier.

Removing Link from the series would utterly destroy the Link-Player bond (link=player, vice versa), which would in turn keep it from being a true Zelda game. Unlocking a character to play, however, wouldn't be too harmful.

For example: unlocking Sheik in OoT after beating it and being able to wander around in a different side (Sheik's) of the story would have been cool. Something like that would be neat.

But yeah, Link should always be present as the main protagonist in the series in my opinion.

yeah, your right, links the main protagonist in the zelda series

Just because it doesn't have Link does not mean it isn't a Zelda game.

But it wouldn't seem right...
