Zelda Galaxy
Not sure if a thread like this has ever been created but I got into an interesting convo with a good friend about Mario Galaxy and then we got into a talk about how far the Zelda series would go. He then proposed the idea of a Legend of Zelda storyline that involved the outer space like Mario did but in a more serious tone. We collaborated on making a plot for it and it kind of goes like this:
-We already know that Ganondorf cannot be killed (which is explained in OOT by the sages and that is because of his representation of the triforce of power, I think, he is always sealed away instead) -Link and Zelda are also immortal but only through reincarnations which explains why there are so many Links and Zeldas to begin with. -This new Zelda will take place in the distant future where the Hylians/Humans (it has been made clear that humans are part of the Zelda universe after playing Twilight Princess) have already discovered intergalactic travel, and are colonizing space. Gorons and Zoras are also in on this technology in their own way. The three races have been settling different planets for about 3000 yrs. The are even water planets where only the Zoras reside. Anyway while the Hylians/Humans are expanding they run across an alien who eats planets, and has spawns of other creatures that does it's bidding spreading. This alien is so catastrophic that the new Link and Zelda (brothers and sisters) are in a race with little time to stop this creature. The first half of the game is where Link comes with an idea to find the ocarina to slow down time which they do. But than they find out that this isn't enough. Zelda comes up with a plan to unleash Ganondorf so that they can use the full power of the triforce against the creature. So Ganondorf will be revived and for the first time in the series be an ally. But than again he is still destined to be a bad guy and he only helps to stop the alien in taking over the universe so he can make room for himself to become the major villain. So it's all classical again where the future Link/Zelda gets sent back in time by Ganondorf. They both have find the Master Sword so that the can travel back to the future (OOT= 7yrs, but this time 7,000 yrs. If the timeline fits with the story) to defeat Ganondorf once again and seal him up ending the Zelda storyline. This idea could be too corny but I kind of like it and would even play it if was done right... Anyone would play a zelda in space? We weren't very elaborate with what kind of worlds and species the heroes would encounter but you can use your imagination. I mean come on, wouldn't you guys like to see an awesome Sci-fi/Fantasy version of Zelda?

Re: Zelda Galaxy
Well the 7000 yrs would make sense for why they are in space. We also made it that long because of all the Zelda's that were in between. Maybe it is a little too far, 700 yrs. maybe? I'm going by the OOT timeline.

Re: Zelda Galaxy
You haven't played Wind Waker or the original Legend of Zelda, have you?

Re: Zelda Galaxy
Spaceships and technology in a Zelda game?
No thanks. But if it involves mystical creatures such as Hyrule being nothing more than an open sky with floating ships for transportation between flying islands, then hands up for me.

Re: Zelda Galaxy
Technology and Spaceships... I must agree with EL.
But if they go from one "world" to the next (without calling them planets) in a fantasy sort of way. Sorta like FFIV. I think have different worlds, instead of simply different sections of a map, could make a very epic game.

I suppose a space Zelda could be pulled off in the right hands. Let's not judge a book by it's cover (espescially one that hasn't been printed yet). ![]() But the brother/sister thing, and Ganondorf as an ally, and more time travel and Ocarina?! etc... No thanks.

Re: Zelda Galaxy
I just don't like the concept of Zelda being thrusted into a world of high-advanced technology and massive spaceships for transportation.
What would happen to Epona and the use for her? Link would just have some Star Wars fighter flyer instead, which would definately **** me off. I would just like Link to travel from land to land, not world to world thanks.

Re: Zelda Galaxy
I'll stick to my sword, bow, and horse thank you.
We won't see a futuristic Zelda for a long, long time. Trust me. Now steampunk, that would be an interesting idea. |

No thank.
I'm sorry, but no thank you. If it took place o Earth, like that April Fool's joke, I'd buy it. But, this just an OoT copy. I want a Steampunk Zelda, and a Futuristic Zelda. Maybe a non-scary Dead Space-esque game. A shadowy thing. Kinda like Metroid, but 3rd person. I can imagine Link in some futuristic suit going in some space station, turning around, and having a freaky looking alien eat him.

There's a fine line between Sci-fi and fantasy... some use the terms interchangeably, but the way I see it: Star Trek=Sci-fi; Lord of the Rings=Fantasy. Zelda should always be a fantasy game, even if takes place 3000 years from OoT, it has to have the same Zelda feel... even if it includes some slight tones of futurism.

Re: Zelda Galaxy
Nice idea, dude! At everyone who thinks Zelda can't take the sci-fi route without killing the Zelda-feeling: how about a Zelda with a fantasy interpretation of the whole space thing? Think about it: huge airships a la Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario Galaxy or Final Fantasy? Magic driven powers like Star Wars or Mass Effect(I mean, the Master Sword already glows, so the step to lightsabre wouldn't be too big, huh? Maybe the people of Hyrule find out what powers the Master Sword, and use it to power all close-combat weapons, making them on par with ranged weapons like guns)? Maybe Epone could be somekind of unicorn like creature, gliding you through space?
Think abstract!

The Legend of Zelda is only to be set in a medieval, magical world.
Everything else here is merely fanfic and dreaming for changes that will never happen.

Re: Zelda Galaxy
Windwaker Ganon was cursed and turned to stone because of the sword in the head. The curse may not be permanent and the curse could eventually ware off. The First Zelda game I think he does disappear like a normal boss after you beat him like in ALTTP the only game where like picks up the entire Triforce in the ending cut-scenes. It doesn't get added to you inventory though. But Ganon doesn't die because in OOT he was banished to the sacred realm and he broke out of that seal in WW. At least that makes since because the game talks about Ganon being sealed away by the sages and they thought the seal would remain for all time but it didn't and Ganon broke free. In Ocarina of Time you find out that the Triforce of Power revives Gannondorf after it looks like Link killed him.
