Wii-make of Wind Waker?

At the recent Nintendo event it's been announced that Nintendo is redoing a bunch of GameCube games for rerelease on the Wii in order to give those fans who never got a chance to pick up the strong-selling GameCube titles an opportunity to enjoy them. So far they've got Pikmin and the first two Metroid Prime games in the works.

Here's the question for you all, though: Would you like to see The Wind Waker redone for the Wii?

I personally say "yes," because I know from interviews that much of The Wind Waker's original content, including two dungeons that were replaced by the mini-dungeons where we found the Power Bracelets and the Iron Boots, was scrapped in order to release the game on time. If the game could be partially reworked to include this content, and if the sheer size of the ocean could be somewhat reduced to make traveling less of a chore, I would be happy to see a rerelease of this game.

I'd also love to see the game with updated graphics on par with those seen in Brawl (Toon Link looked amazing in that game) and improved island designs, as some of them seemed too small/empty.

What do you think?

I'd like it - Wind Waker was one of my favorite Zelda games.

Re: Wii-make of Wind Waker?

At first I was thinking that it would be cool because I like the controls of TP, but then I realized that WW is already fun the way it is and that I really want Nintendo to focus more on an original Zelda game. Still, this would be cool. Maybe Nintendo would throw in something crazy like Balance Board sailing. Since trips are so long, people could use the balance board to steer the boat and get better. Of course, this would be optional. I've already played through WW twice so I probably wouldn't buy this game, but it would still be cool if Nintendo came out with it.

Re: Wii-make of Wind Waker?

I'd rather have an entirely new game following WW/PH in the same style, only better. Wind Waker is nice and all, but playing it a third or fourth time through gets silly after a while... it's like buying the newest Power Ranger DVD because it has an extra 20 seconds of new footage.

Re: Wii-make of Wind Waker?

I would love to see a remake. WW was fantastic, and it's few flaws could be fixed with a remake.
Using the Wind Waker item itself would work well on the Wii, and to introduce new Islands, or even dungeons would be wonderful.

Re: Wii-make of Wind Waker?

As I said in another thread, I wouldn't mind it returning. Although I probably wouldn't get it in a rush, the seaside tower level thing was just too hard for me, what with all of those Moblins and barrels. >_>

^Exactly. A 'Wii-make' of WW is just so pointless and unnecessary, go buy the GC version.

This.

I dont mind them remaking the old games, but.......why? Why would we buy them if we already have the original? They should be concentrating on giving us NEW games, not polished old ones.

I agree. Wind Waker isn't too rare, is it? As much as I like the game, I don't see much of a point of a remake so soon.

Re: Wii-make of Wind Waker?

I love this game, but I chose no. Why? As it has in my opinion an 85%-ish chance to come out on "Play on the Wii Selection" as a port with Wii controls. Good enough for me (:

Actually in some places of the world, it is really hard to find GCN games of any kind. You have no idea what I had to go through just to get a copy of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. That and since Nintendo is no longer making GCN games, means that even common GCN games obviously won't be restocked. If the Wind Waker is a popular game, then I can see more people rushing out just to find the last copies at stores or whatever.

Re: Wii-make of Wind Waker?

Blech, no! The Zelda series consists of remakes of each other. Remaking WW would be pretty redundant. Besides, it's not bad on it's own. A cute idea, but not the most productive use of Nintendo's time. Do you want another TP (I know you're not a fan.. though I am!)?

TP already has a Wii AND a GCN version. Besides, it's not as old as WW or Pikmin. >_>

Ah, I suppose I was unclear in my post. I don't want another version of TP. I was just playing off of the complaint that TP isn't very well regarded, and that could be due to the fact that the team rushed it/wasn't focused/was too small (even though they had their own team, separate from PH). Making one game at a time and several years in between could eliminate that problem. Therefore, by the Zelda team re-doing WindWaker, they are taking away from the next game's potential, and thus creating another, metaphorical, TP.

^_^

TP, while horribly unpolished (those last two dungeons are jokes) is at least more finished than TWW, which was rushed as developers have admitted, is missing at least two dungeons from what was originally planned, and suffers from terrible design flaws.

I'd like to see another version of Wind Waker because I want to see what it would have been.

I'd also be satisfied with a TP remake if it had that free-roam forest like the original trailers showed...

Well, I KNOW TP was unpolished. (If you check the post I ninja'd you with..)

I'm not asking for a TP remake. That was.. more of a threat. Developers missed their chance by rushing Wind Waker. Should we bail them out and give them the opportunity to remake this game? (lawl, politics)

It would be interesting, but let the ship sink in peace.

Scratch that. It'll all be retold in Project Deluge.

(EDIT, I made my post more clear)

Re: Wii-make of Wind Waker?

I don't think this thread should turn into another TP Hating thread, it's not the thread's subject. But for the record, in my sole opinion I just believe that everyone was too hyped up for TP, and were expecting a little too much. I wasn't that hyped about its release, which is probably why I really enjoy the game.

It's not as though none of the development that would take place for this TWW remake would go towards a new game, if you get my drift.

MM was more or less OoT's 2nd quest-- it used the exact same basic gameplay, even the same graphical design, and then piggy-backed off of it for the mask and time elements. Not saying I want the next new Zelda to use the same character models as TWW in a parallel universe... (although another game set in the TWW world would be fun ^_^)

Something like this could be done with the TWW remake, and they could then use the basic framework they set for the Wii version and turn it into an MM-type sequel.

Re: Wii-make of Wind Waker?

I'd rather see a TP sequel. Why? It may add things that people wanted to see before, and would be able to settle the differences. I mean c'mon, everyone knows that nearly everyone hates TP. I just think it needs a rest from those comments.
