Next zelda game has a good chance of being mega-awesome

Well, I've been hearing that this next game has been in development since TP came out. That means that they've been working on it for almost two years. I don't know about you, but that seems like a pretty long time.

Even disregarding how long they've been working on it, what do you think the chances of the next Zelda being just straight up better than OoT. Since OoT was a big change from alttp, it would make a little sense for this one to be really good, since it's supposed to be a completely new Zelda.

I heard they don't even have anything to show for it yet, or else there would be beta shots by now. Remember E3? No zelda, but I guess there is a new Wii sports and a new Animal Crossing, and alot of 2D games, is THIS what Nintendo has widdled down to?

Well, with the wiimotionplus, it's sure to have better controls than TP...

Sadly, yes. It seems that truly good games are going to shine for their abscense on the Wii.

Back on topic, Who knows? TP made me open my mouth, but it wasn't as good as I expected.

Hopefully, the next Zelda will meet expectations.

Re: Next zelda game has a good chance of being mega-awesome

I personally believed that TP was a great game, with great characters, and amazing graphics. But, I agree that OoT was better (although, sadly, I have yet to finish either... long stories.) and I'm not sure that any future Zelda game could be better than either of them.

I hope that they will make a new game before a new nintendo system comes out.

Re: Next zelda game has a good chance of being mega-awesome

whats the point of this thread? since there is absolutely no information about it, there is no way at all to know how good it is or will be
also, is entirely a matter of opinion which zelda was best, and whether somebody likes oot more than this future game
it is another pointless "which is best thread"

but i agree with you that the best zelda are usuallt the ones that change things up, and a really fresh and new. and im sure this one will be
now i bet the reason we havnt seen zelda wii yet is this:
-they want to get it as close to complete as they can before showing it so as not to overhype it with things that arent in the game at the end. like all the stuff about tp or fable
-they are terrified fans wont like the megachanges theyve made or bring it lots of bad publicity after what happened to diablo 3

No news has been released.

You can't jump into conclusions that the next Zelda will be completely awesome if there is no evidence.

Its common sense buddy.

(on Topic)

I do think Nintendo has something big up their sleeve, if I know Reggie Fils-Aime, it's likely it was his decision not to reveal it at E3, maybe WiiMotion Plus is basically his way of telling the fans "It's gonna be special." without really having to say it...

Re: Next zelda game has a good chance of being mega-awesome

All I can say is that I really hope we hear SOMETHING about it at that weird little Nintendo conference thing coming up.

Personally, though, I don't think it will be as good as anyone is hoping.

Okay, relax, I know that sounded terrible. But I don't mean it that way exactly. What I mean is, every time a new Zelda is coming out, everyone completely flips and expects it to be ten times better (or worse, considering early reactions to Wind Waker) than any of the previous games. Don't tell me you've never done it, because I know that all hardcore Zelda fans have.

Take Twilight Princess, for example. That poor game has gone through so much abuse, all because so many people were expecting it to be completely mind-blowingly huge, big enough to shatter the gaming world. Like Ocarina of Time did. But the thing everyone seems to be forgetting is that OoT came out ten years ago! The length, content, and graphics were amazing for that time period, and it really set the standard for action-adventure games. But now that that standard has already been set and people have become used to Zelda games, it would be basically impossible to make such an impact with a new one. Think about it: if Zelda had never before been invented, and TP was the very first game in the series, how do you think gamers would have reacted differently?

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm just as excited about this game as everyone else is. I really hope it will be a great game. In fact, I'm willing to say I know it'll be a great game. But I'm not going to expect it to make this huge impact on the world. If I'm totally wrong and Nintendo comes out with something completely different and new and amazing for the next Zelda game, I'll be seriously awed. But we can't EXPECT them to simply, by default, blow us into oblivion.

Sorry if that didn't make much sense. I do have high expectations for this new game. I'm just not expecting a miracle. I'm expecting an epic, fun, challenging adventure that will keep me on the edge of my seat till the end, and will keep me drawing fanart and discussing on the forums long after. Isn't that, in essence, what everyone expects from a Zelda game?

Phew. It feels better to have that off my chest. If anyone actually read that long wall of text, thanks.

Re: Next zelda game has a good chance of being mega-awesome

I think Nintendo's PR has discovered the effect of what people call "over-hype" and are choosing not to do anything. A game that has been in the works this long is bound to have had at least an announcement unless they've changed the formula.

But, as always, it's impossible to know anything.

Re: Next zelda game has a good chance of being mega-awesome

We already have threads on what the next Zelda might be like, and since no big info has been given from the OP I don't see much point in this particular one. Don't give a title like that, unless you have something concrete to back it up with.
