More Magic

In future Zelda games i would love to have magic be more of a primary focus on combat. Yes use the sword and everything still, but add a more advanced magic system into it.Like Zelda meets a Fable type system. What other powers or magic could be used. What are your thoughts

Re: More Magic

no thanks.
i might like a greater focus on magic, but not more so than swordfighting etc.
also, it really isnt zelda style to just have link casting spells, only a few characters seem to be able to wield magic in the games, and not usually link. so if there was a logical way of including, like through the use of other objects (as it usually is) then i wouldnt be opposed

Re: More Magic

I don't mean it to be the main focus just to exploit it more. Yes i said primary but in the way that your sword uses more magical ability and you also have you have more objects at your disposal like elemental magic items to use, plus being able to cast spells and such through those objects

Re: More Magic

I liked the "magic" in PH; collecting things to give you certain powers would make for a more interesting diversion than collecting bugs to get a bigger wallet or hunting for Poe Souls.

Magic more in line with AoL (which would probably work like in Kingdom Hearts) would be to my liking.

Re: More Magic

Meh.

I'd only like it if it was necessary for the game, like in OoT or TWW in contrast to TP. Otherwise it loses its point.

Re: More Magic

In Star Wars: the Force Unleashed the wiimote was used in some clever ways, you could do pretty much everything with the force. Maybe we could use that but in a toned down level.

Re: More Magic

You want it to be like FF?

Link's skill is really his agility and strength, to dual with a darknut and all of a sudden use magic.... it just isn't the same. Like is a master swordsman, to give him more magic would make take the awesomeness out of the master sword.... unless the master sword was infused with magic... muahah.

Re: More Magic

I think the loss of the magic bar in TP was really good.

There was no point in using those ice and fire arrows.

They made no significance in most of the Zelda games anyway.

Re: More Magic

I mean... What was the use of the fire and ice arrow in OoT? There was more importance to it in WW, but nothing of that to OoT.

It wasn't in TP, which was a good idea.

Re: More Magic

Not too much magic, but a little bit. IDK if anyone here has played Star Wars the force unleashed, but if there could be something like the force push in that game, just to blow back your enemies to give you some breathing room could be good, except Link'd be using the power of the Triforce of course.

Re: More Magic

I definitely want magic back. The items that used magic were my favorite items in OoT/MM/WW. I miss my fire/ice arrows, magic spin attacks and other cool usages like MM masks magic powers. If they bring it back, they could do so many new things with it. Please for the love of god bring magic back!

Re: More Magic

i would only ever like magic if it was more meaningful
like, it had as purpose across the entire game and world

and never anything like force unleashed

Re: More Magic

magic played a great role in some zelda games.. and it was great in them.. i agree with VerySmartPerson... the magic has to hold some purpose to the game and to the world... like maybe link shouldnt be the only one with it... enemies should be able to wield it and be more powerful

Re: More Magic

IF magic is implemented into the next Zelda, then I believe that the same amount of maximum magic as from OoT/MM/WW is sufficient.

I have no problems with the next game having or not having a magic meter. I don't see a real difference, except that more weapons have limits, possibly. Not much of a difference, really.

Re: More Magic

How about USEFUL ice arrows... MM pulled them off quite well, but still not sufficient enough.

Re: More Magic

Why bother adding it? Lighting an arrow on fire has the same effect as fire arrows, the TP spin attack was just as good as the OoT spin attack, and ice arrows were useless anyway. I just don't like the idea of Link using sword fighting and then suddenly casting fireballs. It sounds like a bad ripoff of WoW.
