I really have to say that I'm on Ninja's side on this.
I love the ideas he has stated that could work for the idea of a sandbox game.
also... If you LOVE the idea of Fable 2... um... why are you posting here? this is not the Fable 2 thread, did you need a map?

Not to mention you are describing a game, not a mode.
If Nintendo went around the ESRB they would be in trouble. They aren't stupid, they wouldn't put out something mature and try to circumvent the ESRB.
Wow, try reading next time Neko.
I have simply illustrated the fact that what the TC has described is the gameplay of Fable 2, and all they have done is whine about how "it's not hyrule".
Never knew kids these days lacked imagination.

Not all sandbox games have to introduce mature themes, world of warcraft and the later spiderman games are two examples of action-adventure type games that are sandbox but not M rated. But the choose your side bit is pretty played out, it's been in everything from Prince of Persia to Sonic, and I agree with Aziel that it just wouldn't fit. And I would just prefer a game with a storyline, I have enough sandbox games.
Sandbox doesn't require M, only the sandbox he described.
Which is what I have referred to.

You're Right... I should learn how to read... but to be honest... I got bored of your posts after the you kept going on about Fable 2.
Anyways
I don't see what could be wrong with a game that does not have Link as a character... let along the Main Character
If we look at the title... The Legend of Zelda... um... is it just me or did we have one or two games that did not have Zelda in the game... please correct me if I am wrong on that.
but it seems to me that if we can have a Name of a character in the title and not have her in a game... then we can also have a game without Link in it as well.
I would Love to see a game the expands more on the history of the land of Hyrule and perhaps even see other places as well.

There is no reason to have stats in an action adventure game if you are playing a pre established character.

What do you guys think of a sandbox-type Zelda game? Instead of playing as Link, you would play as some neutral character, possibly customizable, and you'd be able to align yourself with either good or evil through your character's actions.
Personally, I think it'd be cool and it would open the door for new possibilities to regular Zeldas.
I think that is an awesome idea, a customizable character would be best. And choosing whether to be good or evil in a Zelda game sounds like another awesome idea.
An RPG type game wouldn't be bad at all, what if it had some storyline where you were a Hylian who had to get help from other races to save Hyrule from some sort of invading force? You would start out alone and travel around the Hyrule, gaining a new party member from every race.
It would be a great way to expand Hyrule within a game, since many RPG's are so expansive. And if it was a Tales of Symphonia kind of RPG, with lots of hidden cutscenes and sidequests, theres lots of room to drop storyline hints.
If the sandbox was allowed it would be too gory. I mean you could even chopped down your horse if you wanted to. I do like the idea of a sandbox Zelda but the could cramp it to make it keep an E rating. Where you can go anywhere but you can't do anything to anybody (in terms of violence). It would still be Zelda but with more land scaping? Ahhh screw it just get Fable 2....
