I don't know, the results could be disastrous judging by previous the animated series. But anythings possible.

There's one time there was a cartoon baased on Zelda. It failed epically. However that was when Zelda had significantly looser plots and american cartoons back then never tried to be taken seriously. I wouldn't be opposed to an anime based on Wind Waker. I could see WW working very well for an anime due to the cartoony art style.

No. If Zelda was made into an anime, it would fail. Remember the cartoon series? Do we really want that again?

Also, it won't happen. Nintendo can't be bothered to spend time and money to make an anime.

You have a point there. I also beleive Nintendo made an anime for Mario. Take a look at the Pokemon anime. It hasn't stopped, ever becuase its an effective advertising technique. When there was an end in sight it was decent (first and second season). But once they started the Pokemon cycle it went downhill. LoZ has many individual plots that end when THE END is flashed across the screen. You can't force one Link into all the games so it would have to stop at two arcs based on one Link's adventures.

I remind you that the zelda cartoon was not an anime. It was a american made cartoon. Anime are typically more plot focused. If Nintendo fears another disaaster I'm fine with just adapting further plots into manga.

After the cartoon and CD-i games, I just want Nintendo to focus on the games.

No. Because if Nintendo happen to make a Zelda movie and had Orlando Bloom play Link then tons of girls that think Orlando Bloom is hot would go see the Zelda movie just for Orlando Bloom and then they would be like "O my god I love Zelda!" Then when when they play the game they will be like "O my god Orlando Bloom is in here" Or something stupid like that.

Another reason why not is voice acting. Link may sound like Orlando Bloom to you and he might sound Jack Black to me. Understand? Link's voice sounds different to so many people it would be hard to have a Link talk in the movie.

And even if there was one it would be hard to get that "Link" look down correctly. Even if they do get it down correctly then they will have to deal with making Zelda look right and Ganondorf and all of Hyrule...

So it will never work cuz it will cost too much money, Zelda fans might abandon the series if a movie was made and it failed (which it would), and then Nintendo would loose money on the Zelda franchise...

Okay for those of you bringing the American cartoon from the 80's into this it's not a good argument what so ever. Same with the CD-i games. Anime is just an umbrella term for Japanese animation. Codes and conventions in Japanese media and American media are vastly different, especially with animation at the moment. One of these differences is that an anime series most of the time have a beginning, middle and end. The norm for most American animated series usually feel like they have a beginning and middle or just middle. There are American animated series have broke this monotonous "we wont end it till it gets cancelled or doesn't generate any money any more" attitude. Compared to the amount of anime that does this already it's very little. Another thing to remember is that the zelda cartoon came out in the 80's and even American cartoons have evolved since then. Although I myself don't care much for the idea of a zelda anime (because of the mangas) I have wondered how a zelda anime would turn out.

Yes, the cartoon was bad, but that was made by Americans. The Japanese would do it so much better. Look at Pokémon, it's been running for 10 years. Yes, it is going down hill, but that happens to all shows.

As everyone said, it wouldn't ruin the series, just make it more childish.
Pokemon and Kirby did it because they're childish games.
Viewtiful Joe did it because it's funny and infantile.
Zelda's not.
Put it this way: Would you like a Metal Gear anime?

But hey, if some guy makes a machinima show of the next Zelda, I might watch it on youtube.
