The Legend of Zelda, but not in a few days....
I want to know what you guys think of this idea, what if instead of the game taking span over a couple of days (or howerever long it took TP to unfold) how about the next game takes place over, lets say, 7 years, such as how OoT was presented, however, we eliminate the time travel. By now you guys must be like, "whats this Noob talking about." but i beg
you to just keep reading for a couple more lines. Majora's mask and OoT are the two games in the zelda series that just took away my breath(well WW and TP had a close effect, but not the same) I loved the time system in MM and liked how your actions on day one affected the outcome for the next couple of days . So in this new game, i believe that you would play as young link (at about the age of 12) and lived as a child gaining some skills and becoming a good swords man. Now, as for storyline, i leave it up to nintendo, but for now lets say a revolution is happening in hyrule, so link is fighting for one side, or something to that effect . so you at your youth you meet young zelda, the king of hyrule, the gerudo girls (children) and various other characters. Now, for the sake of understanding the time system, i will add another "fan-fic" onto the story, please notice my idea is the time system, NOT THE STORYLINE. anyway, young link meets the prophecy gerudo child, who is now slightly abused do to the people thinking he would be the next ganondorf. Anyway, after a point the game flashes foward a couple of years (like 3) , and link is now 15, so you play some more of the game (revolution is over and a new villan surfaces, ect...) and your out come and events are depending on what you did on the first part of the game, different events change, and so yo play some more and you skip foward to the last part (link is now 18) were you finish the game have the boss battle and the end unravels, for this lets just say that the villan was the gerudo boy, as he was mad that everyone expected him to be evil, so he did as they wished, and he is ganondorfs actual son! ok, so what do you think? ![]()

Re: The Legend of Zelda, but not in a few days....
I like stories that take place over a period of time.
I'm not sure I like you're exact timeline idea thing... but I agree 100% that a Zelda that takes place over some years would be cool.

Hmmm... You could work well to rephrase a lot of what you said.
It sounds a lot like Fable: Lost Chapters.

Re: The Legend of Zelda, but not in a few days....
It'd be good to see the storyline branching out depending on how you played the last section of the game. Though which was canon would probably stir up the theorists for some time. It does add replayability though. We can assume Ninty can pull something like this off - although OoT had a reason for suddenly skipping 7 years of the game, so a reason for suddenly going forward x amount of years/months would have to be written into the story. Perhaps going into hiding/training after [Insert Enemy Here] takes over [Insert Kingdom Here] causing you to travel to [Insert Secluded Location Here] and learn the ways of the Hero from [Insert Mentor Here] to prepare you for your quest to recover the [Insert Magical Object(s) Which Are Only Method To Defeat [Insert Enemy Here] Here].
I'm pretty sure that's how Nintendo write the plots Or maybe they have talented writers with months to work ![]()

Also, this would be ridiculous to code and would be very annoying if you would miss a couple of things in the way. It's a nice idea but it would require some massive cleaning up before it could be actually used. Time travel is basically the best way to go in these kinds of cases. Also it's more in "canon".

Re: The Legend of Zelda, but not in a few days....
i thought of fable as well, but i dont think it would be a bad thing
lots of games are using it now (fallout 3 anyone) so it would be kinda like that, but extended across the entire game i assume but what if people missed something in one time period or something. it completely limits its freedom |

No, it creates a game with all the more reason to replay - new plotlines, new side-quests, a new adventure basically.

Re: The Legend of Zelda, but not in a few days....
Just play Fable: Lost Chpaters.
Your idea sounds very similar to the game. Plus it is an excellent game to play. I would be interesting to play a game where you see Link grow through the ages as a young boy to a fine adult. But then it would kill the meaning and the story of the timelines...

Yeah, because Fable 2 = Legend of Zelda.
