Faster than a speeding arrow.

Exploring can be fun I don't like it when it takes forever to go from point A to point B while doing nothing or almost nothing. So, what if Link had special boots that made him run faster than ever before? I would call them, "The Hermes Boots"!

Link running with the Hermes Boots would make Link running with the Pegasus Boots look like he's walking. Link would also be able to change directions easily and be able to use many weapons. Link's auto-jumps would also take him farther. If the player thinks that Link goes too fast, he/she can turn down the magic in the boots so that Link can run slower. Link would also have no trouble stopping at all.

But why stop with boots? Why not have the same thing with horseshoes?

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

Though the latter Zelda games let you teleport to different spots, those kind of boots can make traveling fun. And though you can teleport, sometimes you do need to make your way to nearby areas-- those places could be far away, and the boots can make the travel quick.
I like the name "Hermes Boots," but Nintendo seems to avoid mythological references...

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

I'd like the good ol' pegasus boots to make a 3D return, personally. Just press a button to run in a straight line with your sword out.

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

Them being named "Hermes Boots" seems highly unlikely, because of a reason IGNIS already stated and Hermes sounding similar to herpes. Besides, what you described pretty much sounds like the Pegasus Boots in 3D (not too different from those in PH), so they will most likely named the Pegasus Boots again.

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

No, thats what Epona's for. There would be no point in having Epona otherwise. Also, it wouldn't really be needed because the game already has warping. I think the pegasus boots would be alright as long as he doesn't keep on running continuously.

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

I have two words: Bunny Hood

I loved that mask. Sure I could use the soaring song to warp to places. I just found it so much more satisfying to just run there really fast. I would love it if they put something like the bunny hood in the next game.

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

Exactly, MM had warping, Epona, the bunny hood, and the goron rolling, and all of them were useful. If the pegasus boots end up replacing something else, then maybe that thing was meant to be replaced, since it's inferior.

By the way, Epona can't be used in towns and certain areas, so there would be opportunity for both. Boy what I wouldn't give to be able to run fast in TP's desert.

I usually use the wolf form if I want to run fast on foot.

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

It still feels pretty slow considering the size of the places in TP.

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

With extended jumps and the potential puzzles involved with running quickly in dungeons, that sounds pretty good.

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

Warping can be useful, but you have to get to the place first. You might as well get there fast.Running in a straight line in my opinion isn't as useful in a 3D world as it is in a 2D world. Epona is fast but you can only use dash a certain number of times within a set time period. That speed boost lasts about a second. For those who love Epona, I say Nintendo should put in some magical horse shoes.

If Link had on these magical boots, then he could run so fast that there would be after images of him. Maybe Link could even jump higher or run up vertical walls.

You might want to read that quote again, emphasis on "and".

Why would running faster make you jump higher?

Re: Faster than a speeding arrow.

Well if the boots made your legs stronger to run faster, jumping higher would make sense.

The Oracle games had Pegasus Seeds to help you run faster...... and the above would warp that into Herpes Seeds?

Ah, but child... That land will not
be Hyrule.

It will be YOUR land!

I have scattered the seeds of the herpes...
