You know what I just realized?

If voice-acting was in Zelda, then it would be hard to put in your name into the cutscenes (you know, like when you start a Zelda game, it asks you to put in a name, and that name will be used throughout the rest of the game.) That means that either the developers would have to do a microsoft Sam kinda thing, or make it so that you have to have the name Link. The only thing is is that I like to have my name in the cutscenes. It makes me feel speshul. So what are your thoughts? How could they do this do you think. (If there was voice acting) I realize the possibiltiy of not having Link as a character, like Deluge (which I know is fake).

the diolog would stop and steven hawking's voice thing would pop in and say what ever name you chose XD

I don't see the problem with having the character named Link. I can't see there being a work-around for this, unless for some reason your name is never mentioned.

I think it's just something that people will have to face if Zelda decided to start using voice acting.

i hope they don't/ VO is good for some games but not for all. i prefer reading it and emagining the voices rather than having the voices shoved into my ears...besides nintendo isn't realy known for good VO. *points at mario sunshine and crys a little*

Only this isn't about whether there should or shouldn't be voice acting in Zelda, it's about how Nintendo would go about it in reference to Link's "name" if they were to use it.

Just have them call Link Link and you get to have your own profile name.

I've recently played a game called Baten Kaitos, and it has voice acting for the cutscenes, and the thing is that when they get to your name they just don't say it, for example the text box says:

What do you think Isaac?
Hello Isaac it's nice to meet you.
Isaac? That's a weird name...

And the voice acting says:

What do you think?
Hello, it's nice to meet you.
That's a weird name.

THIS REALLY ANNOYS ME DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO ZELDA

I hadnt noticed that before. I really wouldnt like Zelda to have VA. The voices could just be not right. I preffer to imagine them.

Maybe they would record with a bunch of names and you select from a list?

Perhaps they would do something similar to Final Fantasy X, where they never mention the name you pick, like they did with Tidus. You got to pick his name, it simply was never mentioned in the VOed dialog.

They could have it like they did in KotOR 2. You could name it whatever you wanted, but they always called you "exile". You could name your character whatever you wanted, but they would always call you "Hero of <insert name>", or simply you. Or they could come up with a nickname that links friends would call him.

In Four Sword Adventure you have no choice of naming yourself. You're forced to be called Link. They could easily take away the naming thing again OR they could pull a Final Fantasy and never say the main character's name. xD

I know this wouldn't work in a Zelda game, but I liked how in Mass Effect you could choose the character's first name, but the NPCs would refer to you as Captain Shepherd anyway so it didn't really matter. So... I guess in that sense being able to name your character is pretty much pointless, but I don't know, it's kind of cool in a gimmicky way I guess.

But yeah, as far as Zelda goes they should probably just do a FFX type of thing.

This would also work. Would also give it some more flavor. Imagine Malon calling Link "fairy boy" with a good actor. ^___^

Nah I don't want to see VA in Zelda anytime soon. I just like reading the dialogue box underneath.

That way, both the deaf and the hearing can understand it.

And also, what is the use? How is VA going to make Zelda any better than it already is?

Maybe everyone could have voice acting except for link?

Tidus: "No answer."

But, in the subtitles, it says his name. Could work for Zelda... Ex: Tidus: Hi!
"Wakka: Who are you?"
Tidus doesn't answer, but he seems to know anyway. In the textbox in those mini-cutscene-things, however, "Hey, Tidus!"

I already thought of that. The same thing as FFIV DS.

the only thing they would have to do is change the voice dialouge so that it doesnt say a name, but in the subtittles it does.

The next Zelda game will come with a Wii Speak thing, when you start the game, you write your character's name and the game also ask you to say the character name, so everytime an NPC says your name, you hear the recording of your name you said at the start! Omg! I'm a genious !
