'Colosseum'

What if, in a future Zelda game, there was a 'Colosseum' of sorts? Like a place where you can do battle with monsters you have encountered thus-far in the game. Think about it. It could be a dank dungeon, a public attraction, or maybe even a quaint little museum, not neccesarily a colosseum. You could pay some rupees to get in, set the monsters and the amount of them, and then duel your way out. Perhaps little tournaments could be held, with a large in-game prize going to the winner (Maybe you would have to compete against NPC's to defeat as many monsters as possible in a set time period).

This would be a great way to get a little challenge and extra practice out of the game. Maybe it could even be a stage for one-v-one duels with your pals, or random players online. A small minigame that allows you to step your game up to the next level. I think this would be a great addition to a future Zelda game. What are your opinions on this?

i like the sound of an arena sort of thing, this reminds me of a little chat about haveing sidekicks in zelda, and mentions of perhaps having a 2 player co-op. perhaps the online play could be a bit chlenging, not to play but to sort out, i wouldnt really like to play as link, against another link, i will leave that to brawl (when i get it)

I had a similar idea a very long time ago, I think it sounds awesome. Maybe if it were a little more like the Tales of Symphonia Coliseum than the Savage Labyrinth of Cave of Ordeals.

That's nice, 10th Rider, but coming up with ideas first this isn't a competition. Not right now, anyway. Right now, right here, this is where we discuss ideas for things we'd like to see, not lay claim to ideas in a bid for intellectual superiority.

I like this idea. I've been mulling it over for the last few days, myself, but it didn't really occur to me to make it a location in the game itself. I was thinking of something more like an option at the opening screen. I like the in-game version much more. Do you suppose that the arena would be limited to non-boss or non-miniboss creatures, though? I'd love to be able to fight combinations of bosses. Challenge, ahoy, y'know? Like... the Dark Sword and Blizzeta at the same time. It would be crazy.

anywho...but in America's Army (an online FPS) they have it so the other team appears as terrorists, and you as the Army, yet the other team sees you as the terroists and them as the Army.

If that makes sense to anyone.

So you would be depicted as Link to yourself, and the other person would be seen as a Stalfos or something of similar-Link-size, and vice versa for them.

whoa, that's kinda trippy. but it sounds really cool. Why not just let people control monsters, though? That sounds even better to me.

I would hope they would allow you to battle bosses and such... that would be awesome. Perhaps you could even place bets and stuff. Maybe you could even pit two monsters against each other and have them fight it out? That would be sweet! And yes, I understand what youre saying with the whole 'see the other person as a monster' thing. Only, the monster would need to have a similar moveset as Link. Maybe you would just see your player opponent as Dark Link?... Or, perhaps, you could choose your monster...

This idea would be neat actually. I could see this being incorporated into a game that isn't set in Hyrule though. It would be neat, you pay a certain amount to go in the battle arena, and depending on how are you get determines what your winnings are.

It wouldn't necessarily have to be in a different world, it could just be a different time frame.

That would be AWESOME. Mebay it could be wi-fi.

Maybe it could even be made as part of the story, where Link is accidentally accused of being a criminal, so they throw him the the battle arena/colosseum thing and he has to fight his way out...

i think it would be a sweet idea. if it was implemented into the story too that would make it better too.

A Helepolis was a siege weapon, not a battle-arena type thing.

And 10th Rider, I would want to replay boss fights too. Maybe you would try to beat the boss with the quickest time, while losing the least amount of hearts possible, etc. Maybe you could even group bosses together...

I would do something really challenging, like 20 darknuts, some archers shooting me from above, some little goblin guys riding around on boars, and a giant boss...
