Something that has stayed in Zelda for a very long time is blinking when something gets hurt. However I think starting with the Wind Waker, the enemies stopped blinking red and instead showed more reaction to blows along with the infamous red flashes, but Link still blinks red when taking a strike (Along with other nice NPCs).
I have to admit I don't think blinking red looked good in Twilight Princess. It seemed out of place in such a "realistic" game. Do you think Link's blinking habits should come to an end and be replaced with...whatever, something more realistic, perhaps?
When enemies are shot with arrows, the arrows stay impaled inside them till they die (I remember shooting a redead 100 times and then realizing that it wasn't hurting him. xD) But when Link gets shot with an arrow it disappears on contact. It's kind of funny how monsters can be graphically brutalized but Link can't.
Do you think Link should follow the crowd and stop blinking, or keep this classic damage indicator? When Link blinks red he becomes temporarly invincible preventing the player from being repeatively hit over and over again. That's what I love about blinking...buuut what do you think? Next Zelda should have blinking or no?
You know what eats large amounts of the day are naps. You go to sleep it's light out, you wake up it's dark out, that's the whole day. Where did that day go? I have no idea
Blinking is good. You could still make it realistic with the blinking in it. I like knowing exactly when i get hit or not, cause sometimes it could be a real close call and the blinking helps you know even if you don't agree it hit you or something.
I love the blinking!!! Don't know why... I just do. XD

Heh, heh... Thanks...You're nice. Umm... Can I ask...a question? The right thing...what is it? I wonder...if you do the right thing...does it make...everybody...happy?
i would love it if all the enemies blinked as well
and they released blood 'like' globs like on oot (the red glowing ones)
not little spurts of black nothing
I wouldn't mind if the enemies stopped blinking, but it might actually be more realistic to have Link not get noticably hurt, because if he did, every time you got a recovery heart, Link's clothes would suddenly un-tear, or his cuts would suddenly disappear. And that would be much more noticable than the blinking.
Adventure of Link pulled off the no-recovery-hearts thing pretty well. I wouldn't mind losing them so much. Might actually make the games challenging, even.
Still, I don't mind them.
Zelda's not all about an options screen. The most Zelda options screens do so far is switch Z/L targeting to switch or hold on the consoles, change text speed on the handhelds, and switch audio output. Things of a stylistic choice, like painblink, I don't see being optional.
