Link's Voice

In Soul Calibur 4, the guy who does Seigreid's Japanese voice (Nobuyuki Hiyama) also does Link's adult voice in Ocarina of Time. After hearing some of Seifreid's lines, I began to wonder if they would work with Link, if Zelda ever got any voice acting. After more research, I came across OTHER voices of Link, including from TWW and TP:

Fujiko Takimoto (Young Link, 1998-2001)
Nobuyuki Hiyama (Adult Link, 1998-2001)
Sachi Matsumoto (Toon Link, 2002-present)
Akira Sasanuma (Twilight Princess Link, 2006-present)

So, if Link was ever given spoken dialogue in a future Zelda game, which one do you think would be the best?

Re: Link's Voice

I'd really like to hear what they sound like in English before I pick. NOA would probably hire English voice actors anyway, so the point is moot.

Re: Link's Voice

Of course they would hire English voice actors for the American release. I was just wondering what they would pick for Japanese, cus the English actors they choose will probably suck and I will be forced to listen to the Jap version.

Re: Link's Voice

I'm not quite sure whose voice I'd like to hear as Link's. I'd need to hear a sample of them voicing out a line for Link first. If Zelda was ever given English voice actors, I'd probably have to turn the game on mute.

Re: Link's Voice

If Nintendo decided to release a Zelda game featuring dialogued voice actor, I wouldn't care who the Japanese actors were. I'm not Japanese, nor do I speak the language, nor am I familiar with any of their voice actors. I'd care more about the English casting. In which case, Patrick Stewart and James Earl Jones must play some sort of role (joking; although...).

Re: Link's Voice

all your comments is ending in a result. that result is why nintendo doesnt do voice actors with link... but what about mario.... the guy who does marios voice acting sent me a recorded call with my reserved copy of super mario galaxy and it sounded like he would be a good american voice acter for mario.... but maybe not in japan... but what i mean is that link is too cool to have a voice actor and i dont want to have to mute my tv every time link talks... its stupid and anoying...

Re: Link's Voice

So what if the voice actor is actually good? What say you then? Nintendo is a company; they're not idiots (for the most part). They're obviously going to go with a good voice actor if they ever decide to make Link talk.

Re: Link's Voice

I always thought Saffron Henderson had the perfect voice to fit a young Link. Just listen to her voice (she does the voice of Gohan in the Pioneer dub):

YouTube - DragonballZ #06 -Gohan makes a friend 1-2 UK

It matches young Link perfectly!

Believe it or not there is a huge amount of games that have great English voice actors. If they got some truely good voice actors it would work fine. Jennifer Hale would be perfect for Zelda/Midna (she did Naomi Hunter in MGS twin snakes, Bastila in KotOR, and Samus in all three Metroid Primes).

I don't want link to talk, but everyone else should.

So maybe you'd prefer American voice actors? American accent is not something for LoZ characters, IMO. But it's not like you said or suggested a preference of American voice actors.

Re: Link's Voice

Link is an avatar of the player, he shouldn't have a voice. People either imagine themselves as Link or turn Link into their own character with their own idea of what he sounds like.

If you give him a voice you will destroy that immersion that these people have. They can no longer put themselves in Link's shoes like they always did because someone else has filled them. The people who make him their own character will have someone elses character in his place
