Miri, the reincarnation prologue-chapter 4
Miri, The Reincarnation
Prologue Do you know that feeling that you get? The kind of feeling when something happens that you thought already happened, but this time it has happened before just all over again. They say the first princess of the land of Hyrule was so beautiful and had beautiful red hair and light blue eyes. They say I look so much like her. I act like her and I love to act like a princess. They say I could be her twin but I’m not. I was born into a poor family. When I was four my both my mother and father died of an unknown cause, a disease not yet known. So I had to do everything on my own. I had a brother… yes “had” I don’t have one I had one who abandoned us. I don’t accept him as a brother or a man. I’m nothing close to a princess. I’m not rich, I’m poor. I may be beautiful but the only thing keeping me alive is my beauty. My beauty convinced people to help me. The old men and women praise me for unknown reason. Well unknown to me of course, but to them a secret they kept from me. A secret that would determine my whole life. But no one had to courage to say it to me. I’m now Twenty-nine and I’m a servant and a body guard to the great king Link and Queen Zelda. I knew Link before he married Zelda. When I was five he took me in as a daughter. He taught me sword skills and he in trusted me with a well crafted hylian sword that he made himself. His sword that he used to fight with. He gave it to me to take care of and fight with. When I became worthy enough to move on from a wooden sword. He said this as he placed it in my hands “With this sword I want you to fight bravely and take care of it for you can pass it on to your son or daughter when you become a woman.” He said it so kind and gently. It still gets carried on my back until this day. I still have it and I fight to protect them. And I will keep them safe. Even if I die in the process. Now then he told me a secret. Why everyone was loyal to me. “People think you look just like the first princess of Hyrule. Zelda’s father’s great great great grandmother. That’s why you are praised by the old men and women.” He said. I then decided to dedicate my life to serve the royal family and in the process find what these visions that I see are. Memories of the actual princess herself. Chapter 1 It was raining hard as I walked. Step by step the rain hit the top of my head. It was chilly but I could handle it. King Link sent me on a quest to save an old friend of his named Malon. I heard she was a beautiful woman, with long brunette hair. As for me, people say I’m beautiful to but they say Malon isn’t as pretty as I am. They say she used to be the second prettiest woman. Now they say I’m the most beautiful compared to Zelda herself. But enough of my beauty I have a very important task to finish. He said Gania captured her. Gania says if Link doesn’t give up the throne then she will kill Malon and I only have 24 hours before she does. I want to save her before it’s too late. The problem is finding her; Hyrule has changed over the years. The gerudos are being even more mysterious, Ganondorf has built a new castle but I’m the only one, for a reason unknown, who can see it. Maybe I’m different from others. I now know where to go. His castle was deep in the desert, where tornados started to form and blow things away. I’ve been there once where I was undercover as a Gerudo. That castle scared me half to death if you ever say it. Blood splattered everywhere with skeletons and flesh rotting on the cold tile floor. The stain glassed windows. Stained with blood and covered with dust and cobwebs. They say when you step through those doors you never came back out. If you were a gerudo then you had a more likely chance. Knowing that I would die there after saving Malon, I then decided to say goodbye to everyone I loved and even said goodbye to my boyfriend. He couldn’t believe that I believed that the old fortune teller told me I would die. I know because she was never wrong and she’s my best friend. She’s been right every time I went to her. She was a kind old woman with a heart of pure gold. She was nice and never mad, she would get serious some times but it’s not her being mad. I said goodbye to her to. I also thanked her for telling me the truth and not hiding anything from me. My boyfriend when I said what I had to do. He told me not to do it. He didn’t even know why I served Link and Zelda anyway. He said they were bad people but that’s his opinion. I keep telling him link is like a father to me. Why is my boyfriend saying this you ask? Because, my boyfriend is Dark Link, Link’s evil half. Why am I his girlfriend you ask? Well it’s a long story really but before I get ahead of myself I want to tell you the whole story of my life from the beginning to the very end. Listen to my story but I must tell you most of this story is sad and does not have a happy ending. If you wouldn’t want to read it then change the page and read something happier. Turn to the next chapter if you want to read and prepare yourself. Chapter 2 It begins when I was three. It’s when the taxes were due and we had only enough money to pay for them and if we did we would starve. So we didn’t, hoping they would wait until we could. After three days they took our money by force and we had none left to buy food. We didn’t eat for three days and my older sister, who was a year older than me, died of starvation. We couldn’t give her a proper burial so we buried her beside her favorite tree and laid flowers where she was buried. We prayed to the goddesses’ to keep us alive and that we would get lucky one day and get enough money. Money for school, food, a house, clothes, and maybe even some blankets just in case we would go poor again and we could make a shelter. A shelter made of blankets and sheets. We then started begging for money and food. My dad lost his job because they didn’t want somebody who would wear nasty clothes and not have a long beard. The old women and men then say how beautiful I was then they all of a sudden started praising me. I didn’t know why but I asked them a favor. “May I have some money so my family can have food to eat?” Then they all gasped and took my family in their home and they gave us food, shelter, and clean clothes. I didn’t know why? Why they were so nice until I heard a conversation in the middle of the night. The old men and women were talking to each other about me. I heard an unusual voice that sounded younger and prettier. It sounded like a young woman. I heard it say “Are you sure she does?” the old man talked back “Yes, the little girl must be the one.” “I want to see her.” “We’ll let you take her in, but we want her to spend more time with her family. Give them two more years.” “I want to see her anyway. I want to welcome her to join our family. That’s only if she does act like her and look like her. She could have the powers that the princess had.” “Fine you may.” I wanted to see what they were up to, but I didn’t want to get in trouble. My curiosity won over all the reasons. I stepped down the stairs and the old men and women looked at me. Then I saw who had the strange voice. A pretty, young female who dressed like a rich princess. A pink dress, blonde hair and bright blue eyes like mine. She also looked at me. She was looking at me like she was scanning my body. Then took a step closer. I was afraid at first so I stepped back. “Do not be afraid little one, I won’t hurt you. I’m Zelda.” She spoke in a kind gentle voice that then told me she wasn’t a mean person. So I came closer to her. My curiosity winning over all reasons again. I felt her pink dress. It was soft and warm like a blanket. It was so warm I rubbed it on my face and touched with my fingers. Zelda laughed “Is my dress that soft little one. Even I love it myself.” I loved the fabric so much I want to wrap myself in it. So I took some dress that was free and loose and wrapped myself in it. “Can I have a dress like yours?” I asked her. Seeing what she would say. She smiled and spoke “yes you may but it will take two years to make and when you put on that dress you’re life will change I promise you that. Until then I want you to stay with my friends the old men and women. We can be friends then.” I knew she would keep her promise for her face showed that and I let go of the dress as she walked out the door. She gave me a wave and a smile before leaving and then I knew something was going on. Something no one would tell me about. Then I waited for two years, staying with my friends the old people. Chapter 3 Yes, I waited two years. Wondering which day she would come back and change my life forever. Which day would be my last for this horrible life of being poor. I waited and waited. As I waited my family members started to die before my eyes. My mother and father died from an unknown disease. There was no cure, no medicine to help them. So we kept them comfortable until they slowly died. My brother and I buried them beside my sister, who had died of starvation a year earlier. I had to live with the Old men and women who took us in. I was four when this all happened and I still remembered Zelda’s promise. I also remembered my mom and dad who talked to her to while I was in bed after she talked to me. Then during the year I got used to being there but my brother hated it. So he ran away. I never saw him again after that he was gone. Gone forever but I excluded him from conversations and family. For now, I didn’t even want to hear his name. He purposely abandoned me for his own selfish reasons. I only had the old people and they included me in all conversations. I then went back to waiting, waiting for Zelda to one day return. I waited and waited until one day I went out side to watch the sun come up on the roof of the house. I heard a knock on the door below me. I climbed down the ladder and walked up front. Then I recognized the bright blue, female eyes I saw two years ago. The same pink dress and this time Zelda, she was with a man. A handsome cute man that made me blush. I overheard their conversation, “Yes, Link this is the place. The little girl was born into a poor family but she has to be the one.” “Okay, I believe you. She must be a cute girl. Why did you bring that dress anyway?” “I told her I would come back and give her a soft, warm dress just like mine. She asked me and I couldn’t say no to her beautiful face.” “Well that was nice of you.” The man had pointed ears like Zelda. He wore a green tunic and boots. He had blonde hair and light blue eyes just like Zelda. Then I noticed the engagement ring Zelda was wearing. Those two were getting married. I wanted to say hi to them so I walked up the porch steps and they noticed me. “Hello, are you here to see me?” I asked “Hello Miri, I told you I would come back.” Then the old man of the house opened the door. He was surprised as he spoke “Welcome, we were expecting you your highness.” “Please just call me Zelda.” She replied I walked inside and sat on the chair near the wall. Usually where I sit a read or sit and eat if I wanted to be alone to think. Link and Zelda walked in and stood there as the old man closed the door. “Miri, I have something for you.” Zelda said as she walked over to me. “You did?” I asked. “I promised you a dress like mine and I have one for you.” “really?” “Yes, I hope you love it” She held it up for me. It looked like hers just with out the triforce rest and it was red and dark red. It was as soft as Zelda’s and it came with a beautiful triforce necklace. “Do you want to try it on?” Link asked with a gentle voice. I blushed a little as Zelda handed the dress to me. I walked to my room and closed the door. I could hear them down stairs talking as I put on the dress and necklace. It felt so warm and it made me all fuzzy inside. I walked down stairs into the family room. “awww, she’s so cute isn’t she Link.” Zelda asked. “Yes she is, she looks like a small, brunette version of you.” “Her family is gone. She really needs someone to be like a father and mother to her.” The old woman said standing up and smoothing out a wrinkle on my dress. “We would like to adopt her then.” Zelda said and looked at me. “Do you want to come live with us?” Zelda asked me. “Will you be my new mommy?” I asked curious. “Yes I will be your step mom and you can call me mommy if you like and you can call him daddy.” I smiled at her comment. I was filled with joy and happiness. A feeling I haven’t felt in my whole life. The first time when I was ever so happy. I hugged Zelda and she smiled her gentle smile and Link smiled to. Next thing I knew I was walking out the door and out of kakariko village and I was holding both of their hands. Everyone behind me waving and saying goodbye and I waved back and so did Link and Zelda. “Now are you ready to come live with us?” Zelda asked me. I nodded and we started to walk again. For me, well my life did change then and now I was actually happy but that’s not the ending yet. Soon you will find out what hard times I had to go through. For now I was going to the castle to live with my new mom and dad. Chapter 4 Three days after I’ve been here in the castle I started to miss the old people who were so nice to me. Yes I was happy to have a room, clean, comfortable clothes, food and a huge court yard to play in with the butterflies and dragonflies. They gave me a home, a mother, a father, and most of all…..the most important thing of all. A family to love and a family that would love me back. I walked down the long stair case. Impa who is now my attendant and no longer Zelda’s said that Link wanted to see me in the armory. Impa was a sheikah and was trained to fight and was a servant to the great princess and prince. Her white hair and dark eyes scared me sometimes but I learned to get used it. Deep inside those cold eyes she was a nice and kind person. If you haven’t heard of her then you should know she is the sage of the shadow temple and she uses her powers to help the other six sages. I walked down the long stair case. Trying not to trip on my long gown. I walked down a long hallway with suits of armor every few feet on both sides. I took a right at the end of the hall. Not knowing if I went the wrong way or not. I then say a room filed with weapons, armor, and shields. I knew I was in the right place. I saw Link holding a well crafted sword. He saw me come in and smiled a gently. I blushed a little. Like I always do when I see him smile. Actually I loved him a lot but I was too young at the time. Knowing that I’ll never be able to have him as my own. His handsome face, and his strong arms and his muscles. It’s not hard at all to fall in love with him. “Miri, I know you are wondering why I brought you here so I won’t keep you waiting. I have a secret to tell you. I want you to believe me but I don’t know if you will. So will you believe me if I said this. Don’t think this is some story I made up. Miri, you are old enough for me to tell you this and I want you to remember it well.” “I will, I’ll believe you. If what you say is true then I’ll do whatever I’m exposed to do.” I answered back. For a five year old I understood most things and I knew a lot of grammar and I had a bigger vocabulary than I 13 year old. I didn’t know why but I thought the secret that Link was about to tell me would reveal that. He began to speak so I prepared myself so I could listen well so I sat in a chair beside him and I got comfortable then he spoke “Do you know why those old men and women praised you? Why they helped you?” he asked “No, I do not.” I answered “You are so beautiful and you look and act like the very first princess of Hyrule. They took you in because they believed you were the chosen one. There is a story that the royal family themselves tell. The story of the princess herself. I would like to you tell you that story. It began when she was queen and she died of the same unknown disease your parents died of. She once told her father that with her powers she will bring a reincarnation of her self into this world after the third princess was born. Zelda is that first princess. Then a few years after she said that she cast a spell on a family. After she died she was buried right under the place where you were born. You have her powers; you have her beauty and passion. You are her reincarnation and she was a great fighter and was trained by a swordsman and a sheikah. She was one of the greatest fighter’s in all the land and as I am a swordsman and Zelda is a sheikah and has powers like you. It is also our duty to teach you how to fight and I want to begin your training tomorrow.” Do you believe me and if you do will you train to be the greatest fighter in the land?” “I do and I will”
