I totally agree, it felt, very different...

Man, i post this thread with the word "casual" in it to get people's attention (Sorry for that) , and then this portion of the ZU site goes crazy. I apologize for the mis-leading title, but some people really need to learn to read the article CAREFULLY . Anyway, to everyone who read the article and had to suffer in this thread, i apologize.

I trust Nintendo, I had the choice of buying any game system, and i bought a GameCube just because of Melee and Zelda, and so far, they haven't let me down (well, except for the lack of games, but that's just because the wii is just entering, what i call, The Golden Nintendo Era (once every system)).

Re: Oh no! Our WORST nightmare has come true! Zelda is... CASUAL!!!!

I still say Nintendo should really think about including dificulty levels in all "original" (Mario, Zelda, etc.) games. Then there is no more arguments about this. If they do not, and decide to make the whole game super easy like PH was, it will be a bit saddening, to say the least. It will be fun, yes. But it will lose the whole quest feel. It will feel like a watered down game, which will not be a challenge to complete to the fullest. It would be in the best interests of all gamers to have difficulty levels in future games. Then everyody is happy!

Halo. All you basically do is walk in a straight line and find the boss/enemy. BAM! Game done
Mario. Jump on this, throw a fire-ball at that. BAM! Game done.
StarFox. Fly straight shoot this. BAM! Game done.

At least in Zelda you can back track, choose different doors, and have side quests.
The point being that in Zelda you actually have to pay attention to your surrondings and figure out what to hit where, what to kill when, or where to look how, on your own.

That was my point! I like the looking around for stuff! I DON'T like games that tell you exactly what to do.

Re: Oh no! Our WORST nightmare has come true! Zelda is... CASUAL!!!!

The next Zelda is going to have controls that are similar to Phantom Hourglass's, that's for sure. Nintendo is going to use all of the Wii's functions to the fullest in the next Zelda just like how PH used every function on the DS...This isn't something to cry over unless you absolutely hated PH's controls...and I thought PH's controls were pretty cool and at times I thought some of the functions were amazing.

Soooo. This is just another way for Miyamoto to say TP was the last Zelda as we know it. New Zelda's are going to use control functions to the fullest like PH and (ugh) Link's Crossbow Training.

The one thing I hated about PH's controls was how you had to draw stuff using the stylus. I would draw something perfect, but it would reject it because it didn't connect in one place of the drawing. I spent a 1/2 an hour trying to draw a triforce in the dungeon of the sea king.

That was part of the puzzle. Drawing the Triforce in one stroke is more of a puzzle rather than a stylus problem. I had the same problem till I realized that you can overlap lines. X_x Now I've perfected my One-stroke Triforce drawings.

I never had any trouble with that Triforce drawing. And I didn't know you could overlap lines either... I thought the point was not overlapping.

I think it would be best if there were only 3-4 difficulty levels. I think having any more than that is a bit excessive.

I'm pretty sure Miyamoto was not talking about making it easy and dumb, but simplifying the controls or something like that. I'm sure anybody who is trying to say something about this has tried the first Legend of Zelda game ever made... you know, the one with the simple controls.

Well on LoZ, you had yourself 2 action buttons and the D-Pad. I don't think Miyamoto was talking about going backwards in terms of control, rather, he was talking about having the game's control streamlined.

I thought it was pretty simple. Oh well. :|

It'd be nice if the next Zelda stood a little closer to its roots, though. Just a little. Not maddeningly close that you can't find the fifth dungeon or that raft after playing for three weeks. More sandbox-y, if you know what I mean, since I'm pretty sure an interview with Miyamoto said that the first Zelda was meant to be like a player's sandbox-like playground. Only with a quest and stuff. Blah... I got my message out, so whatever.

On a different note, can somebody please change the title of thr thread?

Re: Oh no! Our WORST nightmare has come true! Zelda is... CASUAL!!!!

If Miyamoto is saying what I think he's saying, then I don't think we need to worry. He says he wants it to be easier to play, not easier temples, puzzles, side quests, etc., after all, he also said it needs to appeal to hardcore Zelda gamers with these challenges. This could be a hint at it using the WiiMotionPlus, meaning that it may have 1:1 sword play. By adding this, it makes the game that much easier to play, but not to master. Do you get what I mean? In short, Zelda may not be going casual, rather going for a user friendly interface.
