Re: 2 Zelda's in development? Drastic Changes?

I am starting to think the Zelda info we got today was underreated, and that it might be a lot more than what we think it currently is. This is in my opinion, we got a lot more solid evidence that what we thought we had when this was released. A trailer would have been nice, but what we got was maybe 2 Zelda announcements when you think about it. One has been now officially confirmed and is underway, another one maybe is just starting. We may have got a possible announcement on another Zelda other than wii(we knew a wii Zelda was coming), which we weren't sure existed. In short, we maybe got 2 Zelda announcements: One official and one not official. We didn't get other games we wanted(which was still disapointing and lame), but we got our Zelda.
Edit:You might be right, it also could be a tingle tuner thing.

Agreed fully. TP was a little less than 3 years in development, and it could have been so much more if they'd released it at a later day. I'd say this Zelda has been in development for almost a year, so we're looking at holiday '09 to Q4 '10 if we're wanting a quality title. I'd prefer '10 myself, but the Zelda fans may be in detox by then :O

Who knows what their exclusive conference will hold for us.

I hope it's not 3 years between development. I hope it is late 2009 or early 2010.

Re: 2 Zelda's in development? Drastic Changes?

greg, we've known about a wii zelda for years. the DS thing is purely speculation grabbed from that interview. there's a difference between expectation and wishing/hoping .

I was replying to someone who thought we'd hear any information concerning Zelda Wii, not just a trailer. Read the rest of my post. You'll see why I said that.

Well, we don't really know that, although I hope it's true about the story development.

Nintendo always plans ahead about Zelda games (you kind of have to with blockbuster titles like that), and I don't think that they made the story up last minute. They've always pushed gameplay development first and story later, but I would never say that it's last minute.

We don't know that either, but I'd say it's a notable possibility considering the Wind Waker-GBA connectivity in the past. Twilight Princess didn't have it, but I don't think that discounts DS connectivity right away--especially considering the easier, wireless connection between the Wii and DS.

Anyway, I think that as long as it doesn't get any significant delays (reaching for the stars here) we'll see Zelda Wii in time for 2009 Holiday season. Again, that's if things go smoothly. But I wouldn't be surprised if it went into 2010.

Re: 2 Zelda's in development? Drastic Changes?

E3 is done Zelda wise, but we may see it at E for All and Tokyo Games Show. There's still a good five and a half months left this year, and I think we will see a new Zelda.
As far as the rest of the show, I would forget today's mistakes(I only liked the wii motion plus, wii speaker, and Animal Crossing), if they drop a possible late bomb like Pikmin 3 or Starfox Wii.

Yeah

I totally agree, e3 might have not been the "spoonful" we wanted, but this is a good "start", let's hope 2009 is the year to remember.

Re: 2 Zelda's in development? Drastic Changes?

i've never played pikmin 1 or 2, but if they released pikmin 3 - i'd buy the ****er. the wii has NOTHING to cater for anyone other than my grandmother.

Re: 2 Zelda's in development? Drastic Changes?

Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 are some of my favorite Nintendo games of all time. I could not imagine the limits it could have with the wii.

Re: 2 Zelda's in development? Drastic Changes?

yeah i was looking into those they look pretty good. actually, since i've been so starved for wii titles (none to find worth buying currently, STILL) i've been buying gamecube games again. i seriously need to get tales of symphonia and skies of arcadia again. i might get those pikmin games too. gamecube is so much better than wii. argh.

I can see into the future! I rule!
Nah, they probably realized the same thing like a few hours after I made my thread. They did not know I already had made one, and posted it on the front page. I'm glad they agree with me though!
I hope this rumor is 100% true!

Actually, given interviews and past showings, a good 50% of the stuff in the games isn't added until within a year before release (which is really late to make drastic changes, by the way). The developers have a habit of "changing the story all the way up until the very end," too, according to Aonuma-san.

They don't even have footage and that's less than a year-and-a-half away. Doubtful if not completely impossible, unless they have stuff that they've been holding back.

But Miyamoto says they're still looking for ideas (in fact, they're still looking for a winning idea, it seems), which means the game is still in the conceptual stages. Given that, if it releases in a year-and-a-half, I can guarantee it'll suck.

Re: 2 Zelda's in development? Drastic Changes?

*YAWN* That's nothing new, we all knew that basically. The only thing is the DS, it could hint at Wii-DS communication.
I agree thinking over ideas is concept stage, which is another way of saying 2011 release. Anything before that is likely rushed.

Re: 2 Zelda's in development? Drastic Changes?

2011 is a bit late. I was under the impression that the next Wii Zelda was under production shortly after the release of TP. If that is the case, then I would expect it any time during 2010. Although, if it was held untill 2011, I'm sure it would be extremely innovative. It would have to be a game of true genious if that much time was spent on it.
Either way, I wouldn't compain.

I'm still gunning for the return of Zant. My god he could be a good character if they took the time to develop him. (shame TP was rushed.) He's the Joker of the Zelda series.
