The more I look at it the less I like it. It could honestly be Link before he fixed his tunic properly.
I just couldn't locate a good colored picture besides that one.
If they did a female Link, she'd have to have longer hair. (noticeable length overall)

If a game features a customizable Link, and a Male/Female option, I would invision it would go something like this...
Hair Colour <-Brown, Black, Blonde, Red, Green, Sky Blue, Silver [Last three are just for kicks, there could be more then this though]
Eye Colour <-Hazel, Blue, Green, Brown, Black, Gold, Red, Purple [See above brackets]
Link as default regardless of sex, but able to change it to whatever the player wishes
~*Horse Name*~ (If there is one in the game)
Epona as default, but able to change it too.
Personally, I would really like to see something like this in a Zelda game. The series is in desperate need of change in many different ways. Those of you who say, "Link must be a guy, or it isn't Zelda," I say: Shut up and go back to playing OoT for the rest of your lives because the series was BUILT on innovation, and going out on a limb to make a new experience for the player.
This thread also reminds me I need to get cracking on my own customization idea in regards to weapons. >_>
O_o Heck no! I'm talking about Customizable swords. *Shudders* Why the heck would you even say something like that? *Shudders again* I REALLY don't get that tentacle stuff. @_@
I'd start off with charms you can add onto your sword first before going all the way to customisable weapons.
You could have 3 types of charms, scrolls wrap around the handle, medalions hand from the end of the handle and emblems rest of flat parts of the weapon.
That and being able to have different types of weapons such as spears, hammers, axes, ect. Each one can hold a certain amount of each charm (spears can hold the most scrolls, hammers the most emblems, ect.)
