Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
I've always thought it would be interesting for Link to gain more exotic tunics (like the Zora armor) that give him special abilities--like a Sheikah tunic that increases his agility and changes the Master Sword into a katana, or a Gerudo tunic that gives him access to dark magic. Maybe a Rito tunic that could let him fly...

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
The Fey Lantern!
You would get it from the Great Fairy at some point and it would serve as an upgrade to your original lantern. You could put lantern oil in it, and it would drain at a slower rate. But, alternatively, you could put a fairy inside of it. The fairy light would not only be brighter and have a wider effect radius, it would keep weak enemies at bay(annoying hordes of rats and Keese) and increase Link's resistance to enemy attacks. In addition, the fairy light would have the side effect of revealing hidden things, in effect taking the place of the Lens of Truth. Or, a glowing pot would indicate that there was fairy inside. Or, if you don't like that, what about a battle mech? It would be of Ooccoo design, with left arm cannon that fires bombs and a giant clawshot on the right arm that would have drill capabilities. The left shoulder would fire arrows in a scatter shot and the right shoulder should be equipped with a Gatling gun that is loaded with pumpkins and fires pumpkin seeds. Lastly, it would have a magic-powered beam cannon that emerges from its back. Pretty cool, eh? (I'm just kidding about the mech by the way) |

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
I was fooling around with the Ball & Chain in TP the other day, and something hit me: Why is Link only limited to using a sword as his main weapon? Which led to this thought:
How about a main weapon that transforms? I had a thought that the mysterious girl that was shown on the new Zelda Wii poster could transform herself into the Master Sword, but could she also turn herself into different weapons? Here's what I had in mind: *A sword (The Master Sword, essentially) *An axe *A lance *A hammer *A ball & chain I can't remember any other weapons than those 5. But it would be an interesting idea, no?

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
I'd like to see, above all, more tunics. In Ocarina of Time it became a personal preference which tunic you wore, but I'd like to see more than just color swaps. The Zora Armor and Magic Armor was a step in the right direction.
In the next Zelda I'd love to see; Fire Armor: Basic heat-reduction. I see this as the basic tunic, only red and sleeveless. It might look cool if Link wore it with the top of the tunic rolled down to the waist, so that he was basically bare-back. Water Armor: I think the Zora armor should return for this one. Desert Armor: An Arabesque Cloak to protect against sand-storms? Should probably look like something a bandit would wear. Grand Armor: Similar to Magic Armor. Samurai-inspired? Dark Armor

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
I have an idea, it's called the Deku Bomber. Essentially a portable deku shrub, the deku bomber looks and is held similar to the Gust Jar from 2D Zeldas. This uses deku nuts as ammo, and is a great replacement for bombs, as they offer a great punch without the explosion which may effect you. The deku bomber could also stun enemies while attacking them, much like regular deku nuts. The only problem being is that this weapon is two handed, meaning, you're completely defenceless. It's a great offensive weapon, but can be poor on the defence. Luckily, it allows Link to move at slightly-lower-then-regular pace.
This is also a great way of being able to use projectile attacks if you're out of Arrows.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
Well, as for weapons, I think it'd be cool if Link had weapons that, on their own, got the main quest done just fine, but they could also be combined (reasonably) with each other to create new weapon combos, or maybe it's how you could complete some side-quests?
Twilight Princess allows you to combine bombs and the eagle mask with the Bow, but I want to take it further, and include everything. Another idea that goes along with my first one, is get rid of the 'always have to have a sword' thing, and make the sword simply another item in the 'Item' screen, along with the tunics and shields, and just make one big inventory screen, rather than one for sword/shield/tunic and one for the rest. Sure, the Sword/Shield combo is Link's trademark - besides the tunic - but I think players should be allowed to break from tradition if they want to; I'd rather like to have Link use his fists sometimes. Ooh, another idea! Make there be swords you can buy, and allow Link to dual-wield! ANYWAYS. Yeah, I think while I post, and it kinda goes on... SO. Back to my original thoughts. Item Combination. I've always wanted to combine the Hookshot with the Sword in OoT, so instead of just 'stunning' an enemy, you could actually sink the sword in, and either pull yourself in or pull him to you (depends on weight; heavy boots would pretty much root Link to the spot against all but super-heavy foes) and whack him with another weapon (stab, pull, shank with Kokiri Sword upon contact :p) Another one; combine the Spinner with the Ball & Chain (chain attaches to the center on the top), so you can swing the ball while you ride the Spinner. You could use the momentum from your throw to launch yourself, making longer jumps possible, or even just saving yourself from a bad jump. Another combination could be you can combine thrown items with the Clawshot, allowing Link to accurately hit enemies with them without having to use arrows; it would also effectively increase his throwing range, as he would be able to swing the item with the Clawshot to gain momentum. Aaannndd... that's all for now. Thinking at 4:30 a.m. feels weird o.o

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
Rod of time
This rod would allow things to go back in time. For example, if you shoot this at rockfall, the rockfall may disappear. Same for things like broken staircases and opened chestes. In some things, the consecuenses could be much more complicated. For example, if you go back in time and open chest with mace, you note that some wooden walls are back because the person who picked it up could not use the mace because Link had picked it. This would lead to intresting situations. ------- Elemental swords and twohanded could be very nice. |

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
Bow and arrows that you can have sharpened for 50 rupees for the razor arrows X2 damage.
The powdered keg from Majora's mask that link in his normal mode can use. The bomb arrows, the Hawkeye and the Spinner from Twilight princess. Electrical boomerang that hurts and stops enemies for 2 secs. Magic arrows that shoot a random element every time you shoot them 4MP (Magic points)

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
Like I thought of something Feathers of Kaepora- It allows you to glide off of ledges and things, but it uses Magic Power.
Or Talons of Steel- Capable of grasping on to certain surfaces and things and also can be used as a grappling hook , and to swing off poles that are hanging on ledges.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
if you use the Talons of Steel while your gliding with the Feathers of Kaepora the Talons will appear on the bottom of your boots so when you swoop down you can grasp and enemy and knock him off the ledge or dig the talons right in them to kill them.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
I think I finally thought of something that may have a chance of eventually getting in: More combat uses for the shield.
I mean, in TP, you could use the shield to deflect projectiles, and that was good and all, but I want to be able to really HIT the enemy, like the shield is not just a defense, but an offense as well. I.E., I'm running up to an enemy, I swing with my sword, he blocks, so I spin around and back-hand him with my shield, which stuns him - makes much more sense than a simple 'nudge' that only kind-of sort-of stuns the enemy - and also does some decent damage... not as much as when I slice him with the sword, but enough to actually help. Another use: run up to the enemy, but instead of swinging, rush in suddenly and use Link's right fist (left if they flip it for bizarro reasons... AGAIN =.=) to do an uppercut, lifting the enemy between 1/4 - 1/2 a foot in the air, enough hangtime to charge up a strong spin slash, unleashing it right as the enemy regains their footing, but before they can counter in any way. You know what? I think Link should get some more martial-arts moves in general; it just seems to me that without his sword and shield - as well as his other items - Link is seriously lacking in fist/feet attacks. He should at least know... SOMETHING. Maybe Aikido, or Judo... SOMETHING.
