The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
Here you can discuss future weapons.
PLEASE don't bring up old weapons you want to return. It's the NEW weapons thread. What kind of weapons would you like to see? What kind of function would they serve? Where would you find these weapons? Could they be combined, broken or lost? Discuss these and other things regarding the future weapons here in this thread.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
First of all, go into more detail. This post is just... bleh, and much below par. Why would you need another weapon which is just like something you already have?
This thread has the kind of responses we're looking for... Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
There's an item that I have had in the back of my head for quite a while (along with many others). It's called the crown of Quili, basically it gives Link the ability to become completely covered in spikes. He loses his sword and shield while using it, but his whole body is now a sword. It is found within a cave dungeon or something to deal with rocks as the spikes are able to break apart boulders. That's pretty much it aside from that it's a helmet with various spikes on it.

A transformation wand. Like how in Majora you had the four masks. You could use it to change into different animals.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
A small doll that Link throws across gaps, and then the doll stands up, grows to Link's size, and Link can control it by making a motion. So if there is a platform with a switch on it across a gap, you can throw the doll, and have it walk onto the switch.
If it falls down a pit, or you toss it somewhere you can't get it back from, press a button and the doll will come back.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
Deku Musket
I've been thinking about this one a lot, since the Deluge rumors started showing up. The Deku Musket would look like a cross between a real musket and an elephant gun, and would fire gunpowder-filled Deku Nuts as weapons. It would work in a similar way as the Bow and Arrows, only loading each Deku Nut would take a little longer, but would be stronger than an arrow. It would have the same kind of effect as the bomb arrows.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
Hidden Knife.
What is it: A knife Link keeps hidden in a sheath attached to the inside of his boot. What does it do: Since it's hidden Link can use it when all of his other equipment is stolen. It's primary focus is on stealth. Link can sneak up on enemies and kill them quietly with it. Where do you find it: Someone hires an assassin to kill Link and he uses this knife. After Link defeats him he takes the knife and uses it himself.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
The wand of the Elements.
It would be for a game like OoT when you get medallions. When you select it you can choose to draw power from your medallion. It would take magic of course. Light. Heals self Forest. Turns the targeted enemy into a flower. (There is a 20% chance that it will reflect and turn you into a flower for 5 seconds) Fire. Turns the targeted enemy into a living bomb which explodes after 5 seconds. Water. This one is kind of passive you don't have to select it to use it. It allows you to swim and breath underwater. Shadow. Turn invisible for a short period of time. Spirit. Distorts the targeted enemies mind and makes them become your ally for 15 seconds drains all magic.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
The Gale Boomerang and Iron Boots from TP were a step in the right direction, I'd say. The attachment of magical attributes and new uses to old items is definitely yay-worthy.
I'd like to see: -Fire Boomerang: They have this in Zelda Classic for custom quests. -Pegasus Boots (3D): It'd work like a combination of the Hover Boots from Ocarina and the Bunny Hood from Majora's Mask. Win. -Thunder Arrows: Would make a fun weapon and be versatile for puzzles. -Twin Swords: Two light blades, possibly katanas, that can be used in rapid succession, but do not allow for shielding More shields, swords, and clothes in general. Specifically a tunic used for stealth and one that heals you each time you kill an enemy. Preferably eliminate Recovery Hearts altogether, since Potions are good enough, frankly.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
I think a new set of arrows would be neat. They'd use magic.
Farore's Arrows: These arrows create a temporary field around an object that cause vines to wrap around it and imbue it with life. Unlike the Dominion rod, this is temporary and the objects have minds of their own. You must slay the monsters that you give life to to get past them, like, say, a statue that blocks a door, etc. On ordinary enemies, the arrows cause vines to wrap around several of the enemies, choking them for a minute and allowing you to focus on other things. Din's Arrows: These arrows are like the fire arrows in that they destroy enemies with fire and melt ice. In combination with Farore's arrows, you can destroy all of the enemies you encase in vines with fire(to combine them you must hold R and go over them on the item screen, it will use two arrows to fire) over a wide area. Nayru's Arrows: These arrows are pretty neat because they can be fired underwater, allowing you to use your arrows if you are wearing the iron boots. In combination with Farore's arrows in the water, you can cause underwater statues to be imbued with life and underwater enemies to be encased with vines. In combination with Din's arrows on land, you can create ice arrows to encase enemies in ice and freeze even the hottest fires. Switch Hook: Like the Switch Hook from OoA, this hook, upon use, switches Link's position with certain targets. The strategy is that this item will allow you to switch places with targets inside steel-grated magnetized "cages" in the Gerudo Pyramid (they can be used in other places including the Pyramid to get to unreachable ledges). This will give you the ability to move across gaps and also shift your weight so that the cages turn and shift with your weight (Link will stand on the walls of the cages if he wears the Iron Boots and uses the switch Hook to switch places with an item on the wall to tilt giant cages around the Pyramid.) This item is easily the coolest out of them all. Honestly, i loved the Switch Hook, and its transition to 3-D would definitely make for a great challenge. Phantom Bardiche: Enables you to slash certain types of armors and obstacles that can be seen with the Cloak of Truth (see below), almost like a sword you can use against invisible enemies and some invisible targets. This item does half the damage if you attack a tangible enemy, making it almost useless in most places. Golden Arrows: A combination of the three arrows of the Goddesses. It effectively kills all enemies within a close area both underwater and on land, and also kills 'invisible' targets within a close area with intense light whist using 3 arrows and thrice the magic power of a normal magic arrow. This is the key to destroying Ganon. As you can see, these weapons (especially the arrows) are great in that they allow for much strategy in late-game puzzle solving. Once you get all three arrows (after you complete the first three dungeons. Before the first, you are given a bow, the bow of the hero. In the Forest/Woods level, Farore's arrows. In the Fire/Mountain level, Din's arrows. In the Water/Tropical level, Nayru's arrows.), you must use them in different combinations to navigate two other temples. One is a pyramid in the Gerudo Desert which must be manipulated by the player from the inside out with a weapon called the Switch Hook (I loved this weapon, and a 3-D version of it would work, I'm sure of it). The next and final dungeon is a cavern or sewer in a deserted subterranean town with only spirits and monsters inhabiting it, much like OoT's Shadow Temple, which will only be revealed to you and become navigable with a special suit called the Cloak of Truth (like the lens of truth in that it allows you to enter into secret passages that only spirits can access. You must go on a stealth mission to steal this cloak from the spirits, who do not trust you, as they do not think you are the true hero until you defeat the monster in the Subterranean Temple). This temple contains an item known as the Phantom Bardiche, which allows you to slash certain types of armors and obstacles that can be seen with the Cloak of Truth, almost like a sword you can use against invisible enemies and some invisible targets. This item does half the damage if you attack a tangible enemy, making it almost useless in most places. When you defeat the temple, the spirits forgive you, realize you as the true hero, allow you to keep your Cloak and Bardiche, and give you the power to create Golden Arrows (they are much like the light arrows) by combining all three arrows together (effectively killing all enemies in a close area underwater, on land, and also 'invisible' targets with intense light whist using 3 arrows and thrice the magic power of a normal magic arrow). These arrows also contain the key to destroying Ganon. Last edited by Mr_Cheese_723; 07-14-2008 at 01:05 AM. |

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
Well, I'm seeing multiple weapons now, so I'll do the same.
![]() Chain Shot: Like the Hookshot, only that it is double sided with barbs along it. The Chain Shot can be used as a Hookshot by using the one in the front of the device. It can also use the other side to shot behind Link to create a zip line to cross gaps. If there is no gap, the Chain Shot can be used to drag heavy objects towards Link. This use is mostly for moving statues that are too big and keeping a boss at bay. (See Future Bosses) Boomerang Upgrades: Yes we all know what the boomerang has been capable of in the past Zelda Games and they had improved on this in recent games. There are two upgrades that I have thought of, the Bladerang and Crossrang. The Bladerang is what it sounds like, it has three blades with a hole in the center to throw it at your opponents, this rang is able to deal more damage to the enemy and also can cut through metal objects such as chains which the original Boomerang could not. The Crossrang is an updated version of the Bladerang, this time there are four blades and can split into two separate boomerangs. This feature increase the number of targets as well as increase the range of damage. Ice Wheel/Ball: This is a transportation item as well as a weapon. Like the Spinner in TP, this can follow along a track, but the wheel is at a verticle instead of horizontal lay like the Spinner was (and it's also made of ice as the name says). This means that Link rides inside of the wheel. The wheel has spikes on the outside so that it can actually move along the ground as well as the tracks that it can go along. This item is updatable into the Ice Ball. This item is in the form of a sphere which Link still remains inside of to ride. Unlike the Wheel, the ball has a zero turn meaning that you can freely change directions at any given moment.

Re: The Official Ideas for Future Weapons Thread
Quote:
Link with a knife in one hand (non-dominant) and his sword in the other (dominant). What it does: Allows to deal out more damage in a very sneaky sort of way (the enemy sees and blocks your sword strike, but you strike with the knife almost instantly afterwards) It could add a lot of style.
