Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
In this thread we can discuss all the ideas and things that would relate to future bosses.
What would you like to see? What kind of fighting strategy? Any certain items you'd like to use against the boss? How much damage should his attacks cause? Should the boss follow the three hit / five hit pattern? Discuss things such as these and whatever else you'd like to see in future bosses.

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
I had made up a heap, and I was sure I had them one of my USBs, but they're not there... And I can't be bothered setting up my old computer to get to the powerpoint, so I'll just try and describe them from the top of my head as best I can.
An ice cave/temple boss set in the middle of a pool of water, on a slab of ice in the middle of the arena. Around it are other little platforms of ice, which you need to use to get around and avoid it's attacks. It's impossible to reach the boss, normally, from these platforms. The platforms sometimes drift apart, so it's important to take note of the distance of the other platform before leaping at it, as landing in the water turns you into a block of ice, taking consistent damage until you manage to knock into one of the platforms, which breaks the ice and allows you to quickly scramble up onto the platform. Much like the Great Bay Temple boss, getting into the water generally leads to defeat unless you're lucky, as you're more vulnerable to attacks. The strategy is to avoid it's attacks and get to him. This requires the use of the megaton hammer (acquired in this ice temple). His attack pattern differs slightly after you hit him a few times, but generally he'll: - throw ice crystals at you: possible to avoid without leaving the platform, but generally it's safer to jump onto another anyway, unless it's too far away - throw an entire platform: just jump to another platform to avoid it - breathe a stream of icy wind The last is the most important. When he does this, in order to be able to get to him, you need to take advantage of it - timing is crucial. When he does this, stay where you are and use the megaton hammer, timing it right, to get the platform to sink slightly, then bob up. As it does this, if you timed it right, his 'breath' will turn to ice and connect with the platform. Jump on it and slide down (balance is basically automatic, just don't move the control stick left or right, predictably), and then attack. It's really up to you what approach you take, but the sword is safer, as the megaton hammer is slow and can cause you to be knocked back slightly. Once you've had a fair share of attacks, the part of his 'island' you're standing on will break off and join the circle of platforms. Repeat this two more times, minimum, to pass the first stage. The movement of the water speeds up during these, and so does his attacks. The second stage has him coming at you, finally free from being stuck to the island. Basically, you run, avoid ice crystals, and when you think it's a good time to do so, use the megaton hammer to have him smack into an island. When he falls into the water, a little platform of ice emerges around him, enabling you to get close and have more strikes. Repeat this at least once to clear the boss. Okay there's one. Might do the other one later... >_< |

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
The master of bad ideas has arrived to throw in a dumb idea... though, i can admit this one is meant more as a mini-boss. Is that ok? or are we just talking about the big baddies?
![]() (This is hand-drawn BTW. My scanner sucks bad and I may one day find the time to color it) DODONGO CAVALRY ::: HISTORY: In every army there is a need for something that can scatter enemy men and send them routing. Dodongo's were singled one for their fearsomeness and terror factor. Domestication failed merable but the trainers found they could at least influence these beasts by keeping their bellies full with the promise of more food to come. On the field their use was tremendous as enemy forces were shattered. But ultimately, the use of Dodongo Cavalry ran down as logistic lines were drained, unable to supply the abundance of food for these fearsome creatures and the beasts turned there claws and teeth on the very army that had 'trained' them. Now, Dodongo Cavalry are expensive to train and keep happy. Their are few in only a handful of armies and are used rather defensefly so as not to get them to far from their food supplies. Nevertheless these Heavy Cavalry remain terrifying and their presence in battle decisive. INFO: Dodongo Cavalry are usually equiped with heavy army to buff up their natural carapace. Despite termed as cavalry they remain slow with their main purpose to throw off the enemy and send their cowards/soldiers from the feild in terror. Fitted on the Dodongo's back is a massive cart where the commanding officer usually sits. A driver sits near the back of the head and is able to influence the direction of the Dodongo and even some of its attacks. A major problem with the Cavalry in the old days was the presence of boms on the battlefield... The driver, using a special took, can cause the Dodongo to snap shut its jaws if a bomb is thrown towards the beasts mouth and into its belly. The biggest weakness of the cavalry is that if the driver is incapacitated the beasts tend to run amok and attack allies. ATTACKS: - Fire Breath. Breaths a line of fire at the enemy. Vulnerable to Bombs unless Driver shuts the mouth. - Ram. The Beast lunges forward, riders with weak stomachs are not advised. - Tail Swipe. The Beast spins around trying to strike the enemy with its Tail. The Riders tend to become jarred and may momentarilly be incapacitated. Drivers and officers occasionally are thrown off but will get back of soon. - Riders Attack. Riders may fire arrows, jab with pikes or strike with swords from the safety of the beasts back. - Crushing Jaws. Arguable the most powerful attack of the Dodongo as it bites down it shreds its enemy. STRATEGY: - With its usual weak spots covered, either by army or reflex (mouth), the alternative is to strike at the riders. Getting to close to the tail of a Dodongo and striking at the tail, though armored (hit about 3 to 5 times) will make the creature attempt a Tail Swipe. 50/50 chance the Riders will fall from the Dodongo, the other 50 they will stay on but will by only momentarily incapacitated... With enough time, the attacker may get a chance that, with the driver down, the Dodongo will attempt to breath fire and the classic trasaction of bomb-to-mouth will injure the beast. This however will only work three times (leaving two more strikes)... The Dodongo will no longer open its mouth to spr fire but will rather switch to melee combat. Charges will ultimately happen and if the Dodongo hits something hard enough it wall stir the cart holding the officer on the back. When the Cart stirs, a rope will be revealed as armor falls from the Dodongo, strike the rope to cut it. Repeat on the opposite side of the Dodongo. When the Ropes are severed the Cart will fall from the creatures back. The battle will end as the agitated beast turns on its riders. WEAPONS THAT WORK: - The bow can be used to upset the Riders and a good shot may incapacitate the Driver. - The hookshot, though relatievly useless, can be used to the same extent as the bow but usually proves less effective. - Bombs ae a must need for the first three strikes at the Dodongo. ATTACK STRENGTH: - Fire Breath. 1 Heart / Afterburn drains half a Heart - Ram. 1 Heart - Tail Swipe. 1 Heart - Riders Attack. Half Heart - Crushing Jaws. 3 Hearts but is easily avoidable. Just hope you're not unlucky. |

My ideas.
Hmmm...Future Bosses. Well, I definately want the last boss battles(not counting Ganon or Zant like bosses, but the ones you see the second half of the game)to be harder Sure, have like the first 3 bosses be easy. But as you go into the latter part of the game, you fight the biggest and toughest bosses any of us Zelda fans have ever seen. As far as types, maybe a Great Fying Dodongo, that flew arround and chased you with fire. You could get like a easy to control deku leaf for that level, and fly around while conserving magic or another form of power(oil?). Or maybe a Giant Molten Teketite(not Skutulla), that you fought on lava and land using a special item that allows heat resistance. You could use a bow or a hookshot to hit it in the eye(the weak spot) to kill it. My final idea is a Monsterous Aquatic Octoroc that you fight underwater instead of land, and instead of shooting rocks, it shoots pressured water blasts that sent you into a spike wall. It could also do a tentacle grab and take one heart and then another heart for sending you flying into the wall. Tell me what you think!

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
The next main villain should be balanced in Power, Wisdom, and Courage. I'm tired of the "flawed" villain, the one who can't handle "all the power of the Triforce."

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
Yeah, but then the villain would win and the game would be pointless...

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
Why would the villain HAVE to win? Don't the writers have full creative control?

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
A fast paced, SotC esque boss. It would look alot like a colossal multilegged wolf with Mandibles, Maxilla, and two large and two small compound eyes. The technique would be to time it right, roll to the side as it is about to grasp you in it's Mandibles, and you climb up its fur, and there would be a feature that acts as your balance, grip, and position on the boss so that it wouldn't be easy to climb up, and then you have to continually stab it in the head to kill it (the challenge is to get up there). If you can establish a position on a leg, you can attack those to weaken it and slow it down, however the legs are too big for you to cut off.
Sound good?

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
It says whoever controls all 3 powers will control all, so he would destroy Link(besides a villain could only have power like it says in OoT. Power and Wisdom, sure. But you can't take Link's courage power away because it gives him the power he needs. It could work, but traditionaly he has to have the Triforce of Courage to win.

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
Quote:
...like it says in OoT...hurm...WRONG! There's no defined rule book in art, save the bare brass facts. No one law states that you "can't take Link's courage power away." Now, if they said something like, uh, Hyrule won't get flooded someday, that would be stupid. There's a diffence between flip flopping and story development. I encourage a complex villain, not a character with a singular flaw that will always lead to destruction. It's always POWER, GIVE ME MORE POWER! And that's the end of them, their needless greed. If Myiamoto could step up and make the villain at least Link's ideal equal (hint Dark Link or the like) that would satisfy me. NO MORE GANON (unless it's like Beneath of the Planet of the Apes was to Taylor) NO MORE CLICHES. The end. |

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
Not to say I don't want a tough villain, I just doubt Nintendo would do that.

You and me both. The game has to teach us that "with great power comes titties and beer..." or something of that nature.

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
I would like to see Ganondorf, but in a whole new way, like he uses punches, kicks, range attacks, and his sword, basing his character loosely off of the Super Smash Bros. Ganondorf.
You must use the Gale Boomerang against a ranging Ganondorf, your sword against Ganon, the Hero's Bow against Ganondorf on his steed, and your sword again against melee Ganondorf. Ganondorf's range attack would inflict one heart of damage, but will slowly take away four more hearts caused by the poison on his arrows, his Ganon form will take away three hearts, three hearts against him on his horse, two from a punch, two from his kicks, and four from his sword attacks. I don't know what the 3 hit, 5 hit thing is honestly... :blushes:

Re: Official Ideas for Future Bosses Thread
I've had this idea of a giant scorpion boss, in some desert temple. You have to target the joints with the clawshot, fly up to them, and slash at them with your sword. When you've done that with all 8 legs, it falls over and you slash at its eyes. Do it one more time, and it appears to be dead. Walk up to it, and it reveals it wasn't dead. This time it's burrowling under the sand, and attacking without warning.
It attacks by shooting blobs of poison from its stinger, grabbing you with its claws and throwing you across the room, and stepping on you.
