Links Rival?

I was reading a thread and for some reason got this idea. What if in the next game not only do you have an enemy but you also have a rival you meet in the game, with the same goal but fighting for fame and fortune not peace.

No, it's that the idea was pretty bad in the first place, especially sine your rival wasn't really a rival, just an annoying person you were forced to fight four times.

The idea's just bad.

Re: Links Rival?

It wouldn't be very....Zelda to do that. Mainly because link can't speak. The cut scenes would be weird.

Re: Links Rival?

then maybe it's time to change that, besides, the series is getting rather stale and repetitive of earlier games so maybe something like a rival would be a good thing.

Okay, so, make it different for me.
Ya, I just got an idea! Make the rival actually have a chance at completing the game before you! Suck all the fun out of the ability to leave the dungeons at any time and travel Hyrule! Instead of forcing somebody to fight someone else, force them to do all of the dungeons under one millisecond! Yay rivals!!!

Okay, maybe I'm being a little too sarcastic, but that's the only other way a rival could really work in the zelda series. Any other way and it'd be waaayyyy more annoying.

Oh, and P.S. You grow up. You really need to stop yelling at people for expressing their opinions.

Just because you propose bad ways of implementing a rival, it doesn't mean it would go that way.

I see no opinion in that post. All what I see is you trying to bring down ideas proposed by people just because you can't think of good ways to implement them, and writing ignorant posts.

Then what other ways could it go? Seriously, give me an example of how a rival could actually help the game, in full, without hindering it, well, at least hindering it alot.

Then you're not looking hard enough. I cleary expressed my opinon of a rival being a bad idea.

King Bulbin was like a rival. And he was awesome. He needs to return.

It could be a guy who gets stronger as you advance in the game, not depending on how many hour you have played. And it could be optional: whenever you meet him, you can choose whether to fight him or not. If you say not, then you can later go find him in his house and fight him, if you feel like. And they can make it so that each time you defeat him, he teaches you a new skill that he learned.
How's that?

Goronlove7 didn't specify any way of implementing him, and you just replied saying that it wouldn't work and it was a bad idea. That made no sense.

Hmm... Good. However, sounds more like a teacher than a rival.
A good rival is someone you hate, someone you wish to kill, someone who wants to kill you... It's basically a hate-hate relationship.

Re: Links Rival?

How about a rival that evetually sees you as the chosen one and understands what you must do about 2/3 the way through, stands aside and ends up helping you closer towards the end? Finally humbled by your greatness...

Mhm. But how would you implement him before he figures it all out?

Re: Links Rival?

he can 1) have a battle with him once in a while, 2) try to out do you with heroics around the world trying to get more attention, 3) just act like Malo (i think that's his name) from OoT, 4) just ignore his bragging and carry on with the adventure.
