Zelda poll

If there were ever to be a Zelda game not starring Link (and I don't count those stupid CD-i games), who should have the starring role?

A Dark Link game would be cool, I've always wanted to control the Dark Side.

Ugh, why do people always assume Dark Link is Sephiroth incarnate? He's just some black magic animated to do Ganon's bidding. A Phantom Ganon who just happens to look like Link instead. I doubt he has any sort of free will or higher thinking whatsoever.

And if Link isn't the main character, Zelda or Ganon should be. And we all know Ganon isn't gonna happen.

I voted for Link. No reason. Just thought it was appropriate

I voted for Zelda... I mean... Next to Link, she's the one whose importance outshines all the others... right?

Zelda would be the next best thing. I mean, the video games are called the Legend of ZELDA. So why shouldn't she star in it?

Other. All of those ideas are terrible, but if I'm controlling a character other than Link I want it to be either a character with a fairly small role in an old game or a completely new character. (Ala, valley of the flood) While Zelda wouldn't be too bad to play as, I'd much rather have a different female lead.

I think it'd be kinda cool to be able to choose your gender at the beginning of the game instead of playing as these stupid characters. =\

That would actually be kind of interesting... On the start up you can customize your character... From gender to hair color to eyes and skin color....

I just enjoy Link as the hero at the start. If it's something so different entirely, then it won't be Zelda.

^Well, it could still be Link, it's just that Link would look different for every player, and for some people even be a female. I like the idea of a customizable Link. It's very neat.

I'm not to fond of the concept... while I have no problem with a different looking/gender character, that character can't be Link, as Link has to fit the Blond/blue eyes/white/thin/left handed in order to be the 'boy in the legend'. (Even though Link goes through many reincarnations, he always fits those prerequisites, and if Vally of the Flood is real, however unlikely, it will cement that even further into the series.)

And if you don't think Link can be female, you need to read up on BS Zelda. No, the BS doesn't stand for what you think it does.

But seriously, I don't see any of those things as being Link. Especially since Link is just what his name suggest. A link between the player and the game. A way for the player to connect with the world of Hyrule. I think making Link customizable would cement that idea even further and overall allow the player to immerse themself in the world a little more.

For the record, I voted for Zelda. She has a very interesting backstory and I would really like to know more about her. I think Zelda needs some sort of radical change now, they can't just keep chucking out he same thing. [Something different like WW controversial graphics.]

I've played BS Zelda. It's hardly canon. It's just a remake of LoZ. That would be like considering the differences between OoT and MQ canon.

Brownish. I have dirty blond hair, and it looks mostly brown unless it's frizzy or I pick it up so you can see the roots. It's very possible that thats what Link's hair was like in LoZ and AoL

If anything, the only change Nintendo should make in the next Zelda is to give Ganon a gun and a strong craving for chicken. (I see the food item from LoZ coming back. It looks much like a chicken leg, no?)

Maybe, but many of the games have made references to Link's appearance in relation to the legendary hero. (Notably, tWW and TP) While I have no problem playing as a lead with a different gender, eye color, skin color, hair color, or build, that lead wouldn't be Link. It would be a completely different character.

Even so, it doesn't seem right to have a character customizer in Zelda. I have no problem playing as a different character, but it seems like it'd be weird for a Zelda game to allow you to customize your character. Mostly because Zelda games often make references to subtle things like hair color or eye color.

I agree. People just find a dark clone of Link extremely cool and totally miss the fact that Dark Link is just a boss without personality whatsoever (more like a fighting machine than a character) >.<

That game DOES'T feature Link (not even as the male player). All what you can choose is between two non-Zelda protagonists.

I never said anything about changing hair/eyes. Just gender.

Your character would keep all of Link's standard features.

Clearly my sig shows that I would love to see a game with Oni Link. We don't know much about him and I would find it interesting to see what his story is, and the boss fights with him would be amazing.
