What new characters can we have?
I would like the next Zelda game to have a cast of characters that are even more memorable than the ones in any past game. Here are my ideas for some characters. There names can be changed.
Jeremy: Jeremy is the sole survivor of a disaster that befell his village. He knows that the disaster was caused by the main villain of the game which is why he helps Link through his quest. He has a hard time dealing with reality but he is eventually able to move on. Shelly: Shelly is a gardener in a village who takes pride in her work. She's been in love with Jeremy ever since she saw him but she doesn't want to say anything because she knows that Jeremy isn't ready for that yet. She's also very shy. Zachary: Zachary is greedy and decides to help Link out because he thinks that it will get him more money. Zachary eventually betrays Link because the main villain of the game offers him a lot of money. Near the end of the game when Link fights and defeats Zachary. Link decides to spare Zachary's life. When Link is fighting the final boss, the boss throws a powerful attack at Link that would have killed him but Zachary showed up and he took the hit. Zachary dies there but at least he can now go to the good place. Jane: Jane is an excellent singer who is famous throughout all of Hyrule. She has a crush on Link but she doesn't want to distract him from his adventure. Her feelings for Link grow when Link rescues her from something. Other single women in Hyrule are jealous of Jane and they start a rumor that Link is engaged to someone else. Jane hears and believes this rumor and becomes depressed. She starts staying in bed all day because she doesn't feel well. Link eventually learns about this and he rushes to Jane's house to make her feel better. The end of this story would either be Jane dying of a broken heart and Link arriving too late, or Link arriving just in time to tell Jane that he also loves her. Mark: Mark is a novice warrior who looks up to Link. He's eager to help Link in whatever way he can but most of the time he just gets in the way. Near the end of the game, Mark somehow saves Link's life. I don't know how this would happen but Mark gets his wish anyway. William: William is a Knight of Hyrule and Link's rival. He dislikes that Zelda chose Link over him to carry out the mission. After all, William spent years training and climbing the ranks while Link isn't even in Hyrule's army. William challenges Link to sword fights several times during the game. With each loss, he gradually begins to understand why Zelda chose Link over him to defeat the main villain. Near the end of the game, William decides to help Link out. Margaret: Margaret is Link's childhood friend. She is a tomboy and she often sneaks outside of the village to join Link on his adventures. Her father doesn't approve of this. Link who is concerned about Margaret's safety often tells her to stay in the village but Margaret keeps finding Link anyway. She's pretty tough. One time she and Link were arguing about her outings and a moblin showed up to attack them. Margaret quickly pounded the moblin and it became unconscious. These are my character ideas. What are yours? If there's already a thread like this then I don't remember seeing it. |

Re: What new characters can we have?
Thanks.
Zelda has some pretty good characters but there aren't enough characters who have a lot of character development. |

Here's another character that I just though up. Naba: Naba is a Gerudo with a moral dilemma. It is a tradition for Gerudos to be thieves but Naba thinks that stealing might be wrong. She doesn't want to be an outcast so she starts stealing. She tries to steal from Link but Link defeats her. Then she starts to tell Link about how she never liked stealing. Link offers to let her help him and she accepts. After Link goes through the dungeon in the dessert, Naba stays there and is able to convince the other Gerudos to not steal from others but to instead work for wealth. I don't think that Ganondorf would be in this game. That means that the Gerudo tribe would be 100% women with no male leader to stop Naba. |

Re: What new characters can we have?
I got the game "The World Ends with you" recently. I just played through a part where a lot is revealed about this one character, Shiki. I won't reveal what happened, but why can't Nintendo have that in a character more often? Maybe there should be a Zelda game that has its story written by people who work for Square Enix.

Anyway, here's another character idea: Ridder: Ridder grew up as an outcast because he was feared for having psychic powers. Social rejection along with the mental instability that came with the psychic powers caused Ridder to go mad. Ridder decided to start killing everybody who disliked him. He knows how to use telepathy, and telekinesis. The main villain of the game who was able to shield himself from telepathy was able to convince Ridder to fight for him. When Link and Ridder first meet, Ridder reads Link's mind and finds that Link isn't liking him. They get into a fight. Sometime during the battle, Link gets a vision of Ridder's troubled past. Link can now understand Ridder better and he feels pity rather than hate toward him. Ridder picks this up with his telepathy and is confused. Link decides to keep fighting Ridder to knock some sense into him. Just as Link is about to win the battle, Ridder sends Link into the realm of his mind. There, Link fights the personification of Ridder's pain. Link defeats it and then he sees a younger Ridder who is scared of Link. Link shows compassion towards the younger Ridder, and returns to the real world. Ridder faints and falls to the ground (he was levitating during the battle). He wakes up a few days later and is surrounded by Link's friends who are happy to see that he is okay. Ridder then tells everybody a huge secret about the main villain that helps Link a lot. |

So basically Link has to win back the support those who have supported the villain, so throughout the game Link successfully wins their support he notices flaws in the villain and his plans right? So when Link wins the alliance of the former villain's supporters (and the characters mentioned who partically didn't like Link to begin with, now join forces to weaken the villain) so he can confront the villain and defeat him. |

Here's another character that I just thought up: Andrew: Andrew is a Kokiri boy who ran away from the forest (he's a child and children do that sometimes). The Deku tree tells Link that Andrew will die in three days unless he returns to the forest. Link finds Andrew but Andrew refuses to come with him. Soon afterward, Andrew falls into an enemy trap. Link rescues Andrew and Andrew decides to do what Link says and to go back to the forest. |

Re: What new characters can we have?
Thanks for your support everybody! Does anyone else have any character ideas? Well here's another character that I ripped off-, I mean thought up.
Samuel: Samuel is a new soldier in Hyrule's army who is very skilled and dedicated. He comes along to help Link on one of his missions. During an enemy attack, Samuel's armor gets torn off, revealing Samuel to be...a woman? Samantha: Samuel is Samantha in disguise. She became a soldier because she wanted to protect her village from the enemey. Samantha disguised herself as a man because women weren't allowed in Hyrule's army (it's one of those unfair traditions). Samantha makes Link swear not to tell anyone about this. Later in the game, Samantha is accidentally revealed again but this time in front of everyone. Zelda says that she knew this all along but she didn't say anything because she knew that the other soldiers wouldn't accept a woman to fight alongside them. |

Re: What new characters can we have?
I want a dude who works for the main villain that shows up periodically to fight Link. During these fights this guy trys new moves he makes up for the sole purpose of defeating Link and it is through Link's copying of the moves that Link beats him.

Here's a character that I stole from myself. Her name has been changed because I don't want anyone to recognize her in the future. Emily: Emily's destiny is to join Link on his adventure. Some time into the game, the village that the two are in is attacked. Link and Emily both agree to defend a separate half of the village. Emily is never seen doing this but the villagers comment on how amazing she was at fighting. Link himself doesn't know how Emily fights yet. Eventually, the group arrives at Monsto City. Emily hesitates to enter and says that that city is where she grew up. She had a rough childhood. Link convinces Emily that they have to enter that city. Emily agrees and warns Link to not accept anything from anybody. Monstro City is full of crime and nobody follows the laws there. Even the police are corrupt. Emily tells Link that they have to split up in order to not look suspicious. They split up. Lightning: Once in Monstro City, Link faints from the toxins in the air. When he wakes up, he is surrounded by a gang. Link asks for their help and the gang decides to allow Link to join if he can pass a test. The test is to defeat their toughest member. Link does this with ease. Coincidentally, the thing in the city that Link is after is made easier by the gang's latest plan to destroy the police department. The police would have prevented Link from getting his thing in the first place. Link is given a mask to conceal his identity. The Link and his gang proceed to do this. Once they arrive, they are attacked by something like the mafia. There, Link sees the organization member known as Lighting. Lightning is incredibly fast and nobody knows who he really is. Link takes on Lighting and the two eventually fall into the sewer. Link almost wins the battle when Lightning catches him in a trap. Link's mask falls off. Lightning does the same to the other gang members. Lightning's boss shakes hands with Lightning but he is then frozen. Lighting removes his mask in front of Link to reveal that he is really...Emily?! Emily (again): Emily used to be part of a crime organization. Her powers were exploited by them. Emily had gotten back in the organization so that it would be easier to get the thing and also so that she could kill her old boss so that he wouldn't kill anyone innocent. Emily frees Link and the other gang members. I'm not revealing the rest of the story because this is getting way too much like Jaff. Oops! Did I say that out loud? |

Re: What new characters can we have?
I think that with Emily, Samual and William you could make the game into an optional multiplayer game. I love the characters so far!

Re: What new characters can we have?
Eh. Cool ideas and all, but I think we should leave the band of Heroes to Final Fantasy.
Link's a guy that works alone, and always has. It'd be kind of stupid to put characters in a party. Plus The characters names are too common, and not epic. This would be silly for The Legend of Zelda. That's my opinion. |

Re: What new characters can we have?
So, change the names and maybe make it 2 player after you beat it the first time through. Don't have the characters all in it at once but different ones play at different times throughout the game to keep link a loner yet give some interaction once in a while.
