I've heard before that many of you are tired of Link going into a dungeon, finding a weapon, and then using that same weapon to defeat the dungeon boss. I myself dislike being limited by the weapons that I don't have. That is why there should be a game in which Link starts out with most of the weapons.
These weapons would include the sword, the bow, bombs, the boomerang, and hookshot/clawshot/grappling hook etc. As you progress through the game, the weapons become upgraded. For example: Link starts out with a regular sword but later in the game he gets the master sword. Another example: Link starts out with regular arrows but he eventually gets fire, ice, and light arrows. These upgrades will be necessary because enemies will become more powerful throughout the game. I guess that there would be a few weapons that Link would acquire later in the game for whatever reason. Weapons are a huge part of the gameplay in Zelda games. Why limit that? With my idea, the beginning of the game can be even funner. |

Re: Start with almost every weapon.
I like this idea. However I don't think you should have EVERYTHING in the beginning. Just the essentials (to put it simply, what Link has in Brawl) and add more unique Items.
For instance, if this were done in TP, the Ball-and-chain should be gotten later.

Re: Start with almost every weapon.
I think most of the Weapons (notice I say weapons) should be found outside Dungeons/Temples at the beginning or towards the beginning of the game. While Items should be found within them.
I forgot that there is actually a big difference between the two. like the telescope VS. Hammer, or Deku Leaf VS Dominion Rod.

Re: Start with almost every weapon.
that would be fun to have decent weapons at the start but ir would kind of cheat the player out of some rare zelda gameplay because they would have good weapons and kill the enimies to easily.

Re: Start with almost every weapon.
Getting most weapons/items at the beginning, or even during the first few temples, would pretty much ruin part of the exploration element of the game. For example, you might find some odd block or whatever in the overworld, and see something very interesting on the other side of it (whether it be a new area, some treasure, a chest, a piece of heart, or whatever), but you can't get this interesting thing unless you destroy the block; later in the game, you get some item that can destroy these blocks, and you can keep exploring the overworld. And so on.
Getting Bombs and the Boomerang early - yes, those are very basic weapons. You should get the bow quite early, but the Hookshot/Clawshot should definitely not be obtained before the third dungeon. They are among the best exploration items there are, and I like to keep secrets for the later part of the game too. Getting the weapons in the beginning, and the "items" in dungeons, however, would be okay, I guess (if the Hookshot is regarded as an item, not a weapon). |

Re: Start with almost every weapon.
Maybe it would work if you got all the weapons/items at the beginning of the game through a Second Quest, and you had to have beaten the game 100% (all heart pieces, all sidequests, etc...) to get the weapons at the start.

Re: Start with almost every weapon.
Start with every weapon obtainable in the overworld (kind'a like in LA where you can buy the Bow in the shop. You only need a lot of rupees.) and with almost the whole overworld explorable from the start. Think back to LoZ. You had the whole overworld you can explore. Now, it seems like you are guided to your next dungeon. I want to choose which to go to stright away, even if I don't have the items to progess in the dungeon.

Re: Start with almost every weapon.
Not necessarily. The weapons that Link starts out with could be weak. For example, if an arrow can usually destroy a certain enemy in one hit in most games then the first kind of arrows would require multiple hits to destroy that same enemy.

Re: Start with almost every weapon.
Oh, instead of normal arrows, it'd have sharpened reeds. Nah, the bow in the beginning makes the beginning a bit too easy. Slingshot and bombs at the beginning at most.

Re: Start with almost every weapon.
Lame.
I dont want a game where I have everything already. That would just get boring. YOu would beable to solve most puzzles that way. We just need a new way of obtaining items. Maybe not have them all found in the dungeons, but some in side dungeons similar the the Well in OoT/MM the Ice Cavern and other such places. Where for the most part you can obtain these items almost at any time, the better the item the harder it would be. So if someone decided to get the bow at the start, they could. Maybe you wont even need the bow until the final boss. But atleast you would have it. I just dont want to start off with all the items. Its lame and would make the game to easy. |

I'd rather start off with no extra stuff again, but with the item-collecting leaning more towards how it was in LoZ. You know, buy a bow or some other make-able item. Just like how they've done it with the shield, except you actually need the bow for certain parts of the game. |
