My 'Revised' Idea

I'ts still not going to be that long, because I hate the "tl;dr" posts so here it goes.

The hero time has just defeated Ganondorf (you know this part). He returns to the temple of time. He stabs the master sword into the pedestal and feels himself being faded. On his way back through time, he sees himself. He sees himself being held idle in the temple of light. Now, after Link is back 7 years, he goes on to to do whatever.

But now, the Link that he saw on his way back has awakened. Link stills thinks that he has dungeons, temples, evil, and Ganondorf to conquer. But it is already done. Link is attacked by a group of pleased towns people, gorons, zoras, everyone except the kokiri (because they can't leave the forest).

After a big celebration, Link chooses to return to the Kokiri forest. None of them notice Link as the boy with no fairy. Link takes out his ocarina and play's Saria's song. Saria talks with the Kokiri that she is okay, and Link is the boy from 7 years ago that left. They accept him and let him take his tree house back.

Yet, every night. It seems as though it takes longer and longer for the sun to rise, as if night was getting lengthier. Soon, Link slept outside, stairing at the night sky. He saw something that caught his eye. He takes out his brand new telescope (that he received as a thank you gift from the towns people) and looked up at the moon. It has a face

You see, in either of the story lines, the moon falling to Earth was going to happen anyway. And Link faces this challenge one way or the other. But instead of trying to save Earth from the moon the 3 days, he needs to find a way to the moon, and find whoever is possessing it. Only he finds out later that it is a bit more than one person.

The final battle is Link 1 on 1 with the leader, while Hyrule goes to war with the 'moon people' in Hyrule field

Sounds a tad bit like Majora's Mask...

That's kind of the point. It's like a sequal

Interesting Idea, reminds me of Lost's concept of the universe "course correcting" In that it had to happen one way or a another. I would love to see this properly done.
