Ganondorf
After making my Dark Link topic, I came up with another Zelda which lets you take control of the dark side: a game starring Ganondorf! In it, you attempt to take over Hyrule and the the Triforce. You would also have command over an army of monsters. It could take place before OoT, before Link exists and end right before OoT begins. It could explain his orgins of evil.

Re: Ganondorf
I don't think that it woud work as a game. I'd love to write a book or something from the evil guy's point of view, but I would NEVER forgive Nintendo if I had to kill Link. After being through so much with him, I could never betray him and join the dark pig's side.

Re: Ganondorf
No.
Alot of people play Zelda because it's an escape from the real world. It's refreshing because you can easily tell who is good and who is evil. Besides, Zelda is a series primarily geared towards children. It wouldn't work.

Re: Ganondorf
This just makes no sense. It's cool, but you don't like it? What?

As for the actual idea, I don't think it would work that well. The implementation would just be kind of weird. I mean, once you play from the bad guy's side, you wouldn't think that they were bad anymore as you would understand their motives. While I think a properly motivated villain that you can sympathize with is more realistic, putting the player in the shoes of the villain provides too much sympathy. The point is to feel sad for the villain, not to side with them. Playing as Ganondorf would force the player to side with him, which could ruin his standing in any future titles. Something I really don't want to see as Ganondorf has finally been getting some character development in recent installments of the series.

Re: Ganondorf
Definately. Perhaps a 'Star-Wars-prequel-trilogy-style' story, which tells us how Ganondorf, the young gerudo king, becomes tainted by the lust for the Triforce - how Twinrova manipulate(s) him, and how Ganon comes to be.
You wouldn't have to kill Link or anything, because it would take place before he exists... or something. Maybe it could take place before OoT, and in the period of time when Link is frozen in the Temple of Time. I didn't like the idea at first glance, but now that I've thought about it, I'd love to play as the bad guy in the Zelda universe... although I think that the 'main character' spot in every Zelda game should be reserved for Link. |

Re: Ganondorf
A whole game? No. A level? Hell yes.
I can picture it now. The ENTIRE hyrulian army versus Ganon. Ganon wouldn't even need to use his sword to beat those pansys. It would just be a blood bath of immeasurable proportions. ![]() |

I don't want to be evil. Zelda games are about the triumph of Good. Reversing that is the Epitome of modern suck.
