Well, put simply, these are my thoughts on the next Zelda game, which I hope they reveal at this next E3! Anyways, oh, and btw, before you read my thoughts, I figured alot of you might be interested in reading this article I found that was written very recently. Here it is:
What's Ahead for Zelda?
So, moving on, I would like to start with gameplay. Now, as many of you hope, the next great Zelda installment will be on the Wii with motion senser and all. I too would love a Zelda game with motion senser, but, Nintendo would have to greatly improve the way you go about things. Don't get me wrong, Twilight Princess was awsome, but the motions and other gestures you have to make in the game felt very tacked on. After all, the game was meant to be for gamecube only, and they had to rush to finish the Wii version in time, ignoring many story element possiblities and other aspects. This time, hopefully, they will have enough time and ingeneous to put all their effort into creating a masterpeice that all of us can enjoy, instead of focusing on deadlines. For an awsome gameplay exp., I was thinking that you could use the nunchuck for your sheild and the remote for your sword, while swinging in certain positions to execute different attacks, rather than just random side strokes or down strokes. Another thing they could use would be the new balance board that just came out for wii fit. Take the example from the article. When you needed to press down a switch or stand on a certain spot to activate something, you would do so on the balance pad. They could have an excelent targeting system and means of shooting or throwing items. Maybe, they could have you actually hold both nunchuck and wii remote above your head while holding a pot in the game, and swing down to simulate a throw. It would completely imerse the player and add to the experience.
Next, it's music. Ok, again, don't get me wrong, the music was good in
TP., but Koji led us to beleive most of the music was going to be orchestrated! I want, for the next Zelda, to have all orchestrated music with real live vocals if any. Also, the wii is very capable of doing so, as well as adding better graphics and more open worlds to explore. So, there really isn't an excuse.
Next, I would like to talk about the environment and dungeons. First off, I would definately like to see a huge landscape with lots of bodies of water, mountains, and towns, castles, and provinces, and make the world seem less crammed together with a desert just 2 miles away from a snowy mountainside. Also, I love to explore forests and ruins. I think it would add to the epicness of exploring. That has always been one of the key aspects to any Zelda game that has peaked my interest. But, I would also like to see alot of stuff to do along the way to certain areas, instead of just riding a horse or flying somewhere for so long with nothing to do. That was where WW. suffered.
TP. had enemies here and there, but not enough to keep me buisy. Plus everything seemed too sectioned off. I would like a completely open world with lots of hidden caves and secrets to discover. Who knows, it could happen. Secondly, dungeons need to be alot harder with more rooms and levels. I thought
TP. was way too easy, especially the bosses. Andl, maybe not make the whole 'get and item and destroy the boss with it' as strong. Maybe, just don't have any item in the dungeon at all. But, I have to give credit to
TP. for making the temples very creative.
Next, I would like to talk about story and how the Zelda game will play out in terms of tradition and other aspects that make it 'Zelda', but I really don't feel like it. So, I'll leave it to the conversations in between to discuss. Although I would like to mention one more thing. I would like to see many more sidequests and character interaction, with each npc have thier own background story and everything, similar to MM. I don't want to see Ganon or Ganondorf, but mabybe a new villain. You know, something fresh. Oh, yeah, and more races! Also, maybe war and side battles. Remember the very first trailer for
TP. with all the goblins and mulblins lined up to face Link? (ooo, chills!)
