Would you like an alternate universe?
First and foremost, with alternate universe I don't mean alternate timeline or dimension.
How would you feel about Nintendo starting a new standalone Zelda Universe (unintended pun, sorry), one in which the previous games didn't take place? A new timeline, story stripped to the core of Link trying to save the country (and/or princess), no more Ganon/Triforce/Master Sword bull****, but a new villain and artifacts! No more reincarnations of the same characters (sans Link and Zelda), but a completely new Hyrule! One with no history, hell, why not remove the Goddesses and their precious Golden Triangles as well? No gods or kings, only man! (cookie for the first to get the reference) Well, perhaps a new god or some new gods could do... Many other franchises have successfully created new universes, and I feel that one like Zelda would be perfect for it. Also, it would keep timeline discussion to a minumum, which would somehow be nice. Ofcourse, some items and characters may return, like an owl to guide you, the boomerang and a hookshot (replacement), but it should mostly be new and feel fresh, while still maintaining that Zelda-feeling.

Anyway, I disagree. Getting rid of certain things like Ganon or the Tri-Force would remove key parts of that "Zelda feeling." Maybe a new game in a more unique Hyrule that focuses more on the characters and less on the artifacts when it comes to plot, yes, but I do think many of the old aspects should remain. Maybe altered, but still remaining.

Re: Would you like an alternate universe?
This sounds like a good idea actually. Have Link go to a new land, and forget Ganon and Zelda (maybe have 1 cutscene in the beginning that Zelda tells Link to go to this new land) but, dont make Ganon the huge threat to this land.
But still keep the style of having temples to beat to collect this "new artifact".

Re: Would you like an alternate universe?
The poll is worded with a bit of bias, lol.
It's always cool to hear new ideas for the Zelda series, especially since most can agree it is due for a change. But I'm not so sure a new game should be stripped completely of the universe Zelda is established on; why would a game like that even be associated with Zelda?

Re: Would you like an alternate universe?
The poll completely sucks and refuse to take part in it until its changed.
I would be all for it. Although I would like to keep the Goddesses and triforce symbol. I wouldnt mind giving up the whole Ganondorf trying to get the Triforce for awhile. The whole plot is getting kinda boring. Leave the triforce out, but dont mind seeing the symbol or even hearing the legend. Just as long as it has nothign to do with the plot. New villian with some new artifact would be awsome. I like the idea. |

Anyway, I found PH to be one of the more original games in the recent history of the series, if anything it's nothing like OoT (which is a good thing).

Re: Would you like an alternate universe?
Although it sounds like it could work, I think it wouldn't feel Zelda-ish. In my opnion, the steam age is the last age on Earth that could be fit for a Zelda game.

Re: Would you like an alternate universe?
OoS, OoA, LA, PH, and MM.
It's not a new concept to the Zelda series, in fact, it's fairly tried. However, the games within the main storyline are in no way "remakes of OoT". Every game has it's own storyline and feel. LoZ introduced the triforce, Zelda, Link, and Ganon. AoL added the Triforce of courage and gave an epiloge to LoZ. AttP introduced a new Link, a new generation, the Master Sword, and the legend of The Great War. OoT took place during the great war, and gave backstory to the series. tWW took place very late in the series after a great flood. TMC took place before even OoT and explained Link's green hat and the hidden drops in bushes and under rocks. TP, although a spiritual sequel to OoT, took place at a different time with a new story.

Re: Would you like an alternate universe?
For the last time, if TP is a remake of OoT, then OoT is a remake of ALttP. So ALttP is the game that keeps getting remade. What does everyone have against ALttP. [/rant]
Back on topic: This has been done with all the sequels and the oracles (LA, MM, OoX, PH), so it could very well happen again. edit: That is very controversial. If anything most theorists disagree. The hat thing is just so you can have Ezlo on our head. OoT explains not only the hat, but the entire tunic as being Kokiri clothing (which Link wore since he thought he was one).
