Play as Zelda?

Playing as zelda would ruin links reputation in the legend of zelda games. also, what would the plot be? what would be the goals? if she got captured by ganondorf in other games, she wouldn't face him as the main boss. who would be "the bad guy"?

Zomg... How do I say this... Creating a Zelda game with her as the main character is something new and it might end up being exciting. All I know is that Nintendo would make it WAY better than those CDI games. Whoa, i've never typed like that before lol.

That'd be such a fun game to play as zelda.
Oh, I don't know where to begin..Hmm..Being kidnapped would be a blast..And sitting in a dungeon! EVEN BETTER!

It'd make more sense to play as sheik.

Zelda IS sheik, so if zelda's captured, sheik is captured.

I'm talking about just playing as Sheik.
No Zelda appearance.
Sheik has more defense then Zelda has.
And Sheik can fight on a whole new evil, not just Gannon, I suppose.

Explain. How would removing Zelda from the sexist role of damsel in distress ruin Link's reputation?

Also, who says she has to fight Ganon? Creativity is key. Nintendo can come up with a villain who Zelda can defeat.

To people saying Zelda has no power to fight for herself, I have two words: "Light Force". The Light Force gives Zelda supernatural powers. In Minish Cap, Vaati uses Zelda's power to transform himself into an evil god. When you fight Vaati, you're essentially doing battle with the power of Zelda, so she's obviously not weak if her power can be used to make its wielder nearly unstoppable. Plus the Triforce of Wisdom also seems to give powers to Zelda. That's two sources of magic, all in Zelda. I'm certain she could defend herself if she tapped into them, assuming the Light Force and the Triforce of Wisdom aren't the same thing.

EDIT: Just a thought, even if Zelda isn't made the main player character, she can still be used at some points. Consider Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. You play as Mario, the main character, but during certain sections you play as Peach, who takes advantage of her imprisonment by gathering information to send to Mario in order to aid her own escape. Zelda could do something similar. Perhaps, during her kidnapping, she could use her telepathic powers to guide Link along his quest, as well as have little segments where she herself can be playable, allowing you to play through her attempts of freeing herself.

i agree. i dont think zelda should be the main character but it would be pretty cool if you could play as her every now and again. but she should be detained or some state of restricted freedom.
like maybe she's stuck in the castle because of something ganondorf did. ganondorf does his bit. link breaks the curse on the castle simultaneously breaking a curse on hyrule, zelda gets to help out somehow by doing stuff in the castle. idk. its late and i cant think. all i can say is yeah, it would be pretty freakin sweet to play as zelda, but i dont want her to be the main character. thats links job. thats why he exists in the game - to save zelda.

Its been a decade since the adult ending of OoT. Everything is in state of peace, trade is flourishing amongst the races and other nations. Then a mysterious force begins to throw things into chaos. Week after week news of small villages are being destroyed. At first its only Hyrule, when Zelda attempts to seek help from the neighboring nations, they reject the idea. They claim its her fault for not being able to run a country and that it is now in a state of civil war.

Not only would this story break away from the usual, it would allow the possibility of traveling to other nations neighboring Hyrule.

I like this idea. But you make it sound like Zelda is going to be all by herself, much like Link is at the beginning of his adventures. And I don't think Zelda would carry the entire responsibilty: are you forgetting the sages?
They'd still be around in the period after OoT. I admit they didn't aid Link very much in OoT until the end of the game, but they still seemed to have a considerable amount of magic.
If some of them were injured, captured, or killed, it would explain why the races are in a state of civil war, because their rulers aren't there to keep the tribes in check.
Zelda could go to the remaining sages for aid, and they could then either travel with her or give her a boost in power or new ability/spell. Maybe you could even play as the sages for certain parts of the game.
And hey, it would be a good excuse to see the old sages we all love in new graphics.

i think if they made zelda the main character the name of the game should be "the legend of Link". lol. just because zelda is always in trouble but its still her legend and link is never in the title...*voice trails off because it wasnt funny*

I say yes. It'd be awesome but I think it'd be better if instead of starring her own just be playable sometimes throughout the game.

Oh yea! I keep forgetting this but maybe Zelda could have the some of the attacks they gave her on Brawl/Melee.

That's sounds cool, but maybe not for the whole game. It would probably be better if you play as Zelda for a small portion of the game like maybe you're escaping from a prison cell.

hmmm... Maybe Zelda and Link can be in a team? Like they are in the end of Twillight Princess when ur fighting Ganondorf on Horseback. Except that you can switch between characters.

A team? I'll get to that some other time. Anyways, Maybe Zelda could use Din's fire and Nayru's love for some attacks? Maybe even use magic to solve puzzles?

Zelda would have to use magic anyway to defeat the baddies. In one picture she has a sword, and in one part of the game she uses it, and maybe she could use the Light Arrows like she does in Brawl

How about a two disk set? Disk One could be the "Main" Link or whatever game and then Disk Two could be an optional perceptive where you play as Zelda or something. Or a single disk with an unlockable Zelda perceptive available. Either way, I think you should have to play through the game normally first.

For example: Silent Hill 2 where you can play as Maria or Devil May Cry 2 where you can play as Lucia.

I think something like this would work well and actually be pretty awesome!
