Re: Play as Zelda?

I wouldn't be so quick to jump the gun on the sexist thing. Hell, I'm a guy and I'm fine with Zelda being the main protagonist. But yeah, some people object to it because they feel that it, "wouldn't be a Zelda game." Though I disagree with them, I still find their opinion valid. Anyways, I think that a game where one plays as Shiek and Zelda and can change would be sweet. And I agree with you: Shiek being a fighter and Zelda a magic user would be great. Having to use both to slay enemies and solve puzzles would be fantastic. And they could easily make it work. Just set it after the adult ending of OoT. That way Zelda would have to act, as Link would have been completely removed from her timeline at that point.

Re: Play as Zelda?

All I know, is that Nintendo can make it better than those what r they called? CD-i? I've never heard of those. ANYWAYS Nintendo makes the BEST games. Their games have the best storylines, and they always try and make it where the younger players who like to play Zelda don't exactly get scared because of the monsters and people because of their comical look. Because they make the best games, a Zelda game would be AWESOME if they were making it. Their games always turn out great. GGGOOOOO ZELDA!(And Sheik)

Re: Play as Zelda?

If it happened, I think it would be cool if you could play as Zelda/Sheik and Link at the same time. You know, like in Lego Indiana Jones, when you're one character, the other follows and you can switch at will. You could use both characters' abilities to progress through the game. That's just what I think though. :\

You really dont?

Its been a decade since the adult ending of OoT. Everything is in state of peace, trade is flourishing amongst the races and other nations. Then a mysterious force begins to throw things into chaos. Week after week news of small villages are being destroyed. At first its only Hyrule, when Zelda attempts to seek help from the neighboring nations, they reject the idea. They claim its her fault for not being able to run a country and that it is now in a state of civil war.

Zelda tries to combat this mysterious force.

while on one mission, a group of soldiers goes missing. Soon after the people of Hyrule start to fall to pieces, some seek refuge in neighboring nations.

In an attempt to take control over Hyrule she dons on her Shiek disguise. Slowly she works her way to recovering the lost soldier.

Eventually the neighboring nation seek out the help of Shiek, apparently they to are suffering from this mysterious force.

She can't rely on Link... so she must do it herself.

Not only would this story break away from the usual, it would allow the possibility of traveling to other nations neighboring Hyrule.

Re: Play as Zelda?

I saw something about Zelda games on a website & I saw three games that Nintendo made. The games were to where you have to play as Zelda & save Link from Ganondorf. But the games were only sold in Japan. Not one game was sold in the United States. If you wanted to know.

Re: Play as Zelda?

First of all, Ganondorf would NOT capture Link. Think about it -Why does Ganon always kidnap Zelda? Aside from the occasional human sacrifice attempt, he does it to lure Link into a trap.

Now, what does this tell us?

It tells us that between the two of them, Ganon considers Link to be the bigger threat. If Ganon were able to defeat Link, he would not take him prisoner. He would kill him. Why risk letting him live (and possibly escape) just to get to Zelda, who Ganon wouldn't have much trouble with anyway? Link and Ganon are not Mario and Bowser. They are not unfriendly rivals. They are enemies. They would act as such.

Anyway, getting back to Zelda getting her own game, how about a game centered around the Great Flood? We already know Link didn't show up, so there's no reason the game can't be centered around Zelda instead. And as one of the most important points in the Zelda timeline, it wouldn't hurt to give us a bigger idea of what really happened.

I guess that's true, but my theory is that Ganondorf sees Zelda as a bigger threat. She has the power to, along with the other Sages, seal him in the Sacred Realm. He doesn't kidnap her just to lure Link, he kidnaps her because her freedom is detrimental to his plans. Without Zelda, Link couldn't have defeated Ganon in Ocarina of Time. The best he could do was weaken him. It was Zelda who delivered the final blow and sealed him away.

Playing as Zelda could really be fun. I'd appreciate some ideas on how the game might be work and a good story line.

I love this idea. Maybe she could have her attacks from the Super Smash Bros. series. And maybe, instead of Ganondorf, she could fight Vaati.

Maybe, how strong is Vaati? I've never played Oracle of Seasons or Ages.

If Nintendo never does it, we can always make a fangame. Some guy already made a Zelda fangame called SPZelda. I don't know where to download it, though...

I actually think this could be fun, the combat would probably be very magic based, which could be a nice change for the series.

Capcom made TMC, OoA, and OoS, and those were all horrible.

There's sme decent discussion here, but let's keep the spam down - try to beef up posts with some decent explanations and such.

I'll delete the spam I consider delete-worthy for now (like the examples above), but bear in mind that spam makes a thread get locked.
Continue discussion.

TRUTH!!!:scie nce:

My two bits: Games are changing. Nintendo has more rescorces than most of the world's governments, and more influence, too. They could make a console owrking on 50gb disks and fill it up. Different stories for Link, Zelda, G'Dorf, and Vaati, and some new female character, linked together by a common story element (War), and Villain (Da Purplest Mask of them all ), anyone?

Re: Play as Zelda?

Everyone who says playing as Zelda would downright suck, I must say, you sound a bit sexist. You are telling me you are going by one example, from a company that deals more in 420i TVs than video games?

Playing as Zelda could be fun, but I can't see playing an entire game as her, the attributes she's been given in previous games would conflict with the "sword and shield" based gameplay of Zelda.

Now I wouldn't say they're sexist, just anti-princessist. They haven't seen Zelda fight in the official canon. There's a reason Samus doesn't get messed with.
