Link's music.

The next Zelda game should have orchestrated music just like Super Mario Galaxy. I'm sure that's what a lot of you have been thinking but here's my idea to go with it. There should be these special spirits that exist in Hyrule, each with a different background music. These would be called Note Essences (or maybe Music Essences). Whenever Link finds a Note Essence, it will give him a note charm (or music charm, whatever name works better). Note charms would have a variety of designs but I think that they would look mostly like gems. Whenever Link selects a note charm, it will play background music for a specific place (like Hyrule field). There would be multiple Note Essences for each place and each would have its own song. Link would be able to choose which song would be played in a place before he entered it. This would be sort of like My Music from Brawl. Some of the songs would be nostalgic (Hyrule field would have the selection of LoZ theme, OoT Hyrule field, TP Hyrule field etc.). Other songs would be completely new.

It would also be revealed in this game that Note Essences give power to certain songs (like song of storms). Link would need to visit certain note essences and do tasks for them in order to restore power certain songs.

Very cool idea, I like it.

Sound needs to be orchestrated, for sure. I agree with many game reviewers as well, who have said that it's time to have voices. Some folks don't, but I do. Subtitles can be kept for certain things, but it will both speed up and integrate gameplay, to have voices I think.

Thats not a bad idea. It would be cool to see that feature in the game.
However i also wouldnt mind if the music stayed the way it is.

I don't really think there would be much point to this. It doesn't really seem like it would add much to the game, and just kinda seems a bit gimmicky. The music is written to suit a particular area or temple, and I don't think it would really work putting the music from an unrelated area somewhere else. The way that the Hyrule Field theme on TP adapted to what you were doing was awesome, and I don't really know if this would work if you got to select the music.

I'm all for an orchestrated soundtrack though, that would be amazing and I await the day it happens...

Wasn't it orchestrated for OoT? Could be wrong.

Nope it was sequenced. There wouldn't have been enough space on the cartridge for audio.

The music for an area would not get music from a completely different area. Lake Hylia would have its own set of songs, Death Mountain would have its own set of songs etc. There would not however, be Death Mountain music playing in Lake Hylia.

Good point.

A ground-up Zelda game for the Wii, fully orchestrated and voiced, would have the potential to be one of the single-most anticipated events in gaming history, thus far.

So, Nintendo... the ball is in your court!

This game should also have a music instrument in it. To not have one of these would be crazy. Maybe Link should play a Lyre.

That would be difficult to carry around, though.

On the other hand, he does manage to carry around 2-3 shields, and a bevy of other crap in that magic pouch of his, so..... (One wonders if he's the secret descendant of Mary Poppins.)

Ah ok I see your point now. Though I still think it would be better just to have adaptive music, a la TP Field theme.
Definitely should be a musical instrument; a lyre would be awesome (reminiscent of Medli) although I like the idea of a wind instrument as well, like the ocarina, or the flute in LttP. Well it's called a flute, but it looks like an ocarina, so maybe an actual flute would be cool, or panpipes.

Lol!
That would be amusing, a little like the horn instruments that you have as the deku scrub in MM.

It would be cool if Link could put note charms in his musical instrument in order to give its music special powers. The bolero of fire just got extra hot!
