BalanceBoard a bust?

A little bird, (namely being the article on the front page in ZU) told me that Wii Zelda might use the Balance Board as part of the fighting system. Would this be too complicated, or do you think it would enhance the experience? Post your opinions here.

I can't imagine a game mechanic in Zelda that could possibly require you to use the balance board.

Are they talking about using the balance board to move? How would that even work? It's not like the old Track and Field mat.

ARGH. I trust Nintendo a lot, so if this actually is the direction they're going, I'm sure it will be play-tested forever until it is refined to where everyone will enjoy it, but it sounds like a terrible concept.

that would just be weird, to have to use the balance board in a Zelda game. I cant really see how that would work or what it would even be for. But maybe....... maybe the next Zelda game will be in first person view and you use the balance board to dodge enemy attacks or something. The only other thing I can think of them using the balance board in Zelda is for some sort of balancing puzzle. I don't think that they will use the balance board in the next Zelda though.

Yeah, I thought it might work, depends how they do it.

Using the balance board as part of the fighting system?

Balance board... fighting system.

Fighting by balancing.

No, sorry, but it doesn't work for me.

I only approve of this idea if the fighting system functions equally well without the balance board, seeing as how I have no intention of getting one or anything.

It's so simplistic you people don't even realize what you're saying.

The balance board would be sweet for combat. Lean left dodge left, lean back jump back, lean right jump right. Simple but very effective. That would free up A for a few new commands.
And for you lazy bums who hate standing up:
1) Go on a diet so it's not an effort
2) Get overy yourselves
3) You could do it sitting down
4) Why would you even have a wii if you didn't want to stand up!?

Hell no. Why can't they just stick with A, B, X, Y, Z, control stick?

Because the Wii doesn't have an X or Y button. That's obvious to most people.

Oh God no! We don't need an on-rails, hack and slash arcade Zelda.

It definitely has potential. There are a thousand ways you could use the board. Dodging, sidestepping, walking, minigames, etc., etc. And seriously, for all of those who don't want to stand up and play games, why did you get a Wii? That was the point of the product. If you don't like the sound of it, then don't buy it. Either way, Nintendo has stuck around this long because they keep being innovative. Don't expect them to drop out anytime soon. Whatever they do with Zelda will be good in my opinion.

I have the Balance Board, it's a great way to play games, and i suppose you could use it for when you run around in Zelda games with the wiimote in your pocket.

I could see the balance board being used in a completely awesome way for a game like Sin&Punishment, but Zelda? No thank you.

No, it wasn't. I bought a Wii because I wanted to play some new Nintendo games, not because I wanted to spend several hours of my day standing in my living room when there's three perfectly good chairs around me. The only game I play standing up is Guitar Hero. Everything else, I sit down for.

But we're straying from the point here. I stand by my previous statement that, while I'd be interested to see how the Balance Board could be used in Zelda, I have no intention of getting one and therefore hope that it's not compulsary.
