Start out as a bad guy

What if Link grew up with thieves that does dirty work for cash, then they are given a job from Ganon to steal key objects that are keys to the heavily guarded triforce, the keys could be spread out between the diffrent races out there, they finish his missions and are well payed, he leaves but returns in a bad mood (maybe he got to the triforce but couldn't reach it because it was protectet by a blessing of the great faries so only royal blood could touch it) and a new job. To kidnapp the princess ..

You do so and keep her captive while Ganon is out for a while, Zelda then tells Link what he is doing is wrong and give him something that should prove her story, Ganon returns and take her away, Link feels bad about it and goes to check on her story, he realises the facts when it's too late and the chosen get their mark.

Well, I don't realy like the plot above, but it's just to describe what I want..

The basic idea was to have a plot that make Link kidnapp Princess Zelda, and maybe do some more of Ganon's bidding, then discover what he was doing when it was nearly too late and it get a race between power and currage.

No.
I highly doubt this would ever happen.

Crap, I was slow, once again.

I had something just like this, but I had an idea called "The Legend of Zelda: Son of Evil". I thought it was too cliche, so I never introduced it to ZU, but it got advanced so far. Here it goes:

The Legend Of Zelda: Son of Evil is to take place in between the times of Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, during the time of the Imprisoning War. This time, Link is the “son” of Ganondorf, King of Evil, hence the name Son of Evil. Ganondorf has managed to break the seal with the help of the Dark Magicians, who are later condemned to be the Twili. Hyrule is at a time of war with the Dark Magicians and their creatures, led under Ganondorf. It is much later discovered that Link was not Ganondorf’s son, but he was kidnapped at his birth in a hospital where his parents were killed and the hospital was destroyed. Noticing great future strength in the baby, Ganondorf took him and raised him as his own.

The game begins as Link is seen sparring with Ganondorf. After running errands for Ganon, Link is given the Villain’s Sword and a wooden shield. Link is then given the ultimate task to kidnap Princess Zelda by using the dark “Villain’s Robe” to sneak into Hyrule Castle. After sneaking past the numerous guards and searchlights, Link finds Zelda and attempts at a kidnapping her, but is caught before he can leave the room. Link is simply thrown into a jail cell, but minutes afterwards Ganon attacks the castle and frees Link. Back at Ganon’s tower, Link is punished for his failure at kidnapping the princess. Link then sneaks into the tower, but instead of kidnapping Zelda, he befriends her and defects to the Hylians.

Zelda notices great power within Link, and brings him to the basement of the castle, to a large shrine of the Master Sword, with the pedestal and the sword itself in the middle. Link walks up to the pedestal and easily draws the sword out of the pedestal, and takes a few moments to swing it around triumphantly. Just then, cries are heard form the guards and Ganondorf appears. Using the Triforce of Wisdom, Zelda summons Din, Farore, and Nayru. Ganon teleports around them, and breaks the Master Sword into four pieces. Din and Nayru hold down Ganon steadily, and Farore summons a spell that causes Ganon to return to his tower. Farore then says that Link must prove himself worthy of the great sword, and teleports three of the four pieces into the bowels of three large monsters, each within a dungeon. The goddesses then say, “One is protected by Forest, in the sacred Kokiri Underground. The next is protected by Fire, in the sacred Death Tunnels. The Final piece is protected by Water, in the sacred Sea Temple. Collect the three pieces and return here. May the spirit of the Master Sword be with you.” They then disappear and the spirit of Reela, the incarnation of the Master Sword, appears. She says, “The rest of me is hidden in the places that the goddesses have described, and I shall help you on your quest.”

Link and Reela appear at the Kokiri Forest, where they are met by the Kokiri. At first the children are aggressive, led by Mido, but then they find out about Link’s cause and decide to let him into the Kokiri Underground to seek and destroy the monster that is poisoning the Young Deku Tree’s roots. Link heads in, and inside finds the Fire Boomerang, which allows him to light braziers and torches and to burn ropes and vines. Link finds and kills Demonic Puppet: Renosa. He then takes the first shard of the Master Sword. After this, Link goes to Malon’s Ranch, as she is in her late thirties, and gets use of Epona. Link also collects the Hero’s Clothes, also to be known as Farore’s Armor.

Reela and Link head out to Death Mountain and befriend the Gorons and the people of Kakariko Village. They allow Link passage into the Death Tunnel inside Death Mountain. Inside, Link finds the Glider Fan, a large fan that allows Link to glide over gaps and blow gusts of air. Link then locates the source of activity in Death Mountain: Fire Mosquito: Pyroavia. Link kills the creature and takes the second shard of the Master Sword.

Link and Reela head to Zora’s Domain, which has been turned into a wasteland with the water turned into poison and the atmosphere polluted. Link then gets a boat from the Zoras and heads out into the Great Sea to the Sea Temple. Inside, Link finds the Hero’s Bow. He uses it to defeat the Ghost Ship. Link then takes the last piece and returns to Hyrule Castle, where he must sneak past the guards put under a dark spell.

At the shrine, Link then puts the shards of the Master Sword together and strikes it into the pedestal. This fuses the broken pieces together, making the solid form of Reela appear, visible to all. This also breaks the curse set upon the guards.

Zelda then instructs Link to do that which must be done. He must go to Ganon’s tower and seal the evil King away. On his way out, Link meets a beautiful witch his age in Castle Town. Her name is Evelyn, a witch who harnesses shadow powers. Because of discrimination and fear from fellow townspeople, her parents and family were locked up, but the king forbade Evelyn from being imprisoned because of her young age (Link and Evelyn are both 15 years old). Evelyn wishes Link a safe journey as he leaves to assail the tower.

Unfortunately, Link does not win the battle; instead, he loses poorly and barely escapes Ganon’s wrath. As he flees, the new weapon of the Dark Magicians, The Fused Shadow, chases Link. As he flees the area of Ganon’s Tower, Link spots Evelyn, casting a shadow spell. Just as he passes her at full speed, Evelyn casts a large, unbreakable shield barrier that surrounds the circumference of the area of the tower and stops anything from getting in – or out.

Evelyn passes out, and Link carries her back to Castle Town. Zelda greets Link at the southern gate. Link, Reela, and Zelda decide what to do next at the castle. They decide to find an ancient weapon of light that might destroy the barrier surrounding Ganon’s Tower. Sages nearby tell them that it has been broken into pieces. One of them is in the forgotten mines, another is in the tower of lightning, the third is in the complex controlled by sound, and the final piece is in the Sacred Realm.

Link heads out to the Miner’s Quarry on the opposite edge of the desert. Inside he finds the Motorized Armor, which is an armor Link wears over the Hero’s Clothes that makes him stronger and gives him the ability to operate the complex ancient machines within. He locates and kills Armored Hedgehog: Armohog.

Link then heads to the Lightning Temple, which is built into the mountain range that Death Mountain is a part of. The mountain is called Helmaroc Mountain. Inside, he finds the Lightning Rod, which allows him to absorb lightning and either lays down a field of electricity to stun enemies around him or uses the absorbed power to operate machinery. He then locates and kills the Helmaroc Queen.

Link appears at the Kokiri Forest to find it on fire. He runs to the Deku Tree to find it safe and protected by a force field. Link sees Saria, beaten and battered by monsters. Link then fights all of the monsters that appear, including Phantom Ganon. He escapes the forest holding Saria, and prays to Nayru for a rainstorm. Nayru answers his prayers with the rain, and the fire goes out, yet Saria was the only Kokiri saved. The Deku Tree lives on, and Saria lives in Castle Town thanks to a blessing that allowed her to leave the forest without dying. Next, Link heads off to The Sound Temple within the Lost Woods. There, he acquires the Vibration Hammer, which allows him to smash objects and activate the “Sound Cannons” within the temple. In the end he faces off with Sonic Dragon: Phonvagia.

Next, Link heads back to Castle Town, where he searches for an answer to finding the Sacred Realm. He asks Evelyn, now town heroine, for an answer. She says that there is a Dark Shrine in her basement of her home and after Ganon’s descent into the Sacred Realm during the rise of the Hero of Time; the Sacred Realm was turned into a wasteland called the Dark World. Link sets off into the Temple of Time to seek help from Rauru, Light Sage. He fills up the Master Sword with the light of the gods, which should lift the darkness in the Dark World and return the Sacred Realm to its original state. Link heads back to Evelyn’s house, but she needs the Black Triforce, the reverse form of the Triforce, containing Vanity, Fear, and Hatred, to power the shrine. Link must get Vanity from a mini-dungeon. After Link gets the Black Triforce of Vanity, the shrine powers up, causing a portal to appear.

Link must now lift the darkness cursed upon the Sacred Realm. He fights his way through the ranks of many dark creatures until he finds a pedestal. Striking the Master Sword deeply into the pedestal, the darkness is lifted. Link then heads to the Temple of Light. There he finds the Scepter of Light, which lets him target a maximum of five targets, then unleash a Screw Attack-like move where he hits all of the targeted objects in one move by flying into them. He faces off with Armored Jumper: Altivania. After these four dungeons, the pieces of the Light Gauntlet, the powerful weapon of light is recreated.

Link and Reela finally head back to the Dark Barrier, and try everything within their power to destroy the barrier using the gauntlet, but nothing happens. Responding to their attempts, the gauntlet speaks to them. “My power can only be unleashed if I am driven by the power of true Courage.” Reela guesses that the Light Gauntlet meant the Triforce of Courage. They go to the castle to get an answer from Zelda. For reasons unknown, she faints. In her unconscious slumber, she mutters, “Courage can only be found in the Hospital of his destiny, as it had been foreseen for the Chosen One to return to his fearful birthplace.” Only Reela had heard what Zelda had said unconscious. Realizing what the spirit had said through Zelda’s mind, Reela grabs Link and brings him to the Ruined Hospital outside of Castle Town before the princess can awaken.

Link and Reela enter the Ruined Hospital. Inside the hospital, Link finds the Ghost Eyes, which allow him to see the ghostly enemies and ghostly objects within the dungeon. Here Link learns about the sad fate of his parents and why he being the Chosen One had saved his life, and is now eager to avenge the saddening death of his parents and the many additional Hylians who had been killed in the fray. He finds and kills Invisible Monster: Inolacchian to retrieve the Triforce of Courage to empower the Light Gauntlet.

With the power of the Triforce of Courage, the Light Gauntlet is totally empowered, and the Triforce returns to Link as the needed power is taken. Link’s parents bid him farewell as he returns to the surface. Link and Reela head back once again to the barrier, and using the Light Gauntlet, they shatter the barrier with ease. They head down the path to Ganon’s Tower, which is now a fortress. As they approach the floating fortress, it magically disappears from thin air with a loud bang. Filled with rage, Link heads to Hyrule Field, only to find that the Dark Magicians—and their Warriors--are fighting the Hylian Royal Soldiers in the largest battle of the Imprisoning War. Link faces off with the Dark Warriors on horseback and kills the magicians with the Bow to help the Hylians in the Battle For Hyrule Field. During the battle, Reela bears witness to something she would have never imagined. She sees Ganon’s Fortress floating above Hyrule Castle, and the fortress is entering a portal into the Sacred Realm, which would return the winning side of the war to Ganon. Colonel Rodinek, a Hylian Knight, sees the fortress floating too. He tells Link and Reela that they need no longer help in the battle, as the Hylians are winning the fight.

Now pressed for time, Link and Reela head to Hyrule Castle as fast as possible so they might be able to stop the Fortress from entering the portal. As they approach the castle, they must now fight the Fused Shadow. After winning the battle, the Fused Shadow leaps back to the fortress, to be faced again. Using the unpredictable properties of the Light Gauntlet, Link and Reela jump up to the fortress.

Inside Ganon’s Fortress, Link manages to find the Platinum Gauntlets, which have abilities later to be found out. As Link approaches a previously seen sealed door, the Platinum Gauntlets activate. Link’s body surges with unspeakable power, and the door obliterates right in front of him. Link uses this newfound power to progress deeper into the fortress. Link finally finds the end, at the top. He sees the Fused Shadow, waiting for him. It teleports Link to a separate dimension where they face off. The Platinum Gauntlets activate an even more powerful ability where they transform Link into a large monster, which allows him to fight the Fused Shadow (the player actually plays as the monster).

After defeating the Fused Shadow in brutal monster-on-monster combat, the four Light Spirits appear, taking away the broken pieces of the Fused Shadow to be protected in special temples. Link fights his way further into the temple and locates Ganondorf at the top of the fortress. There they fight, and Reela assists Link by stunning Ganon with the Light Gauntlet. At a certain point in the battle, Reela is struck by a dark spell from Ganondorf, and gets knocked unconscious for most of the battle. She awakens, and continues to assist Link. After Ganon is weakened, Reela focuses all of her power into the gauntlet to hold him down. Right then and there Link jumps into the air and delivers the final blow to the King Of Evil.

Ganon focuses the remains of his strength into propelling the fortress through the last leg of the portal and into the Sacred Realm. But Evelyn has already cast a spell to pull the fortress back down to earth. It picks up speed and heads toward the castle with lethal speed, but Evelyn redirects it towards a spot just outside Castle Town’s walls. The entire fortress explodes and sends Link, Reela, and Ganondorf’s body flying, but Link lands solidly and safely on his feet thanks to the Platinum Gauntlets. Reela safely descends back to the ground. Hylian officials send Ganon’s body to the Arbiter’s Grounds in the Gerudo Desert because it was known that the seal would be broken yet again, so they wanted to be prepared to seal him away once more.

Link and Evelyn meet back in Castle Town, and they hug deeply. One week later, Link receives a message from the gods telling him that he must place the Master Sword in a pedestal within the Temple of Time, which has been made into ruins by damage from the Imprisoning War. Reela tells him that placing it back into the pedestal, it will kill her and lift a curse on her placed long ago. In a flashback, she explains that the curse was placed on her by the gods because of a terrible crime she committed, and so they fused her soul with the Master Sword so she could repay her debt.

Reluctantly, Link plunges the Master Sword into the pedestal, and as Reela dies, She mutters, “Thank You” to Link.

That was a really rough description I had as a Word document.
EDIT: I know my timeline's screwed up (I didn't have one at the time) so please forgive me for any messups in the storyline that could not occur.

@GoT: yeah but it's an idea, fair enough it doesn't follow anything
but this isn't a prediction thread, it's what you'd like in a future game

Re: Start out as a bad guy

i'm joe, hi

haha i know, but i've read on loads of other threads
i didn't mean it literally of course, figure of speech.
but like, what exactly IS wrong with FoxInABox and Grumble Guru's ideas?
they don't fit cliché zelda?
a game that didn't fit the cliché
would be made shortly after the sun turns into ice?
it's not such a hard thing to grasp.

Re: Start out as a bad guy

I think he was referring to the formatting; a several-page long wall of text is hard to finish without paragraph breaks.

Anyway, GG, I really like your ideas. The original dungeons, locations, items, and characters are awesome!

Re: Start out as a bad guy

Yeah, the paragraph is a mighty sword.

But I don't think any of the main games should be about Link being a evil (even partially), as that is not what link is.
But from a gameplay perspective, it could actually work.. If they start to make some spin-off series from the main series (as they already have done with Tingle RPG and Link's archery training), this could be implemented. I can imagine it as a Star Wars KotOR type of game with modifications. The good/bad choice in dialoge and actions, but with Zelda fighting..

Damn, when I read the topic title I was hoping we would discuss starting the game as Morpha or something.

Re: Start out as a bad guy

Now that would be fun.. Waiting in some dark corner for Link to open the door of Time, and Ganondorf to get the Triforce of Power and take controll of Hyrule Castle. Then you could freeze the Zora's River, and then wait for seven more years, until it's your turn to be turned into Hero Fodder...

No, just kidding.
But playing as a monster would be a strange and different experience.
And while we are at it, would a RTS work out? Like Age of Empires, only Zelda Style?

Re: Start out as a bad guy

Fluesopp: On the Zelda wiki's page for fan games, it looks like an RTS is being made. No telling on how far it is, though.

I think that it could be effective to play as a bad guy if Link and Zelda weren't part of the story at all. Like if you were Dark Link, or Ganondorf, or even Morpha (LOL) and it was your goal to explore/take over the Dark World. Or you could just be playing as a monster trying to get at the Golden Power.

A lot of my ideas for games are heavily influenced by the Dark World...

Re: Start out as a bad guy

The story seems good. Alot of OoT characters though, I'm afraid if they bring back too many OoT chars they'll either mess up their characters this time around, or make the game too much like OoT (not that OoT wasn't good!)

Oh.
Right.
I copied and pasted it from Word (I did have paragraph breaks, but for some reason they didn't take into effect).
So does anyone think a just idea would be to make a thread of my own and label it as a game idea? That would give me a proper way to introduce the storyline of it, and also I could include the items, bosses, etc.
Glad you guys liked my ideas!

Re: Start out as a bad guy

I'd like to see Link with questionable motives at the beggining of the game. It would be before he gets his trusty tunic, and before we have met Ganondorf. But, yes, I certainly think taht this would be an interesting twist.

I'm thinking somthing along the lines of Zidane in Tantulus in FFIX.

Re: Start out as a bad guy

Now that I think about it, I'm just going to post the idea in an entirely different thread. This is because this thread is more built upon the general idea of Link starting out as a bad guy.

Re: Start out as a bad guy

Never changing would mean th edeath of the series. Eventually we will be like... "Hey guys, I could have sworn I played this boss before..." or "I am having this strangest deja vu feeling in the 6th temple "

If Link were to start out more as a theif or part of a group of thieves and its mostly to stay alive.

I wouldnt want Link to be something rivaling the actual bad guys, but if he does some questionable deeds to help stay alive. Then thats fine with me. Hell being tricked into doing something that could lead to the end of Hyrule would be fine(in OoT he does let Ganondorf into the Temple of Time )
