My thoughts on a future Zelda game.
I have actually spent a great deal of time thinking about this. I remember hearing tell of an interview saying that TP would be the last traditional Zelda game and PH was cited as an example of a new way to play Zelda (I wish I could cite the interview, sorry.) It really got me thinking about the possibilities with the Wii and the DS. I have come up with several theories:
1. Keep the traditional style of gameplay (large inventory, dungeons, basically what you would expect), but put a great deal of effort into combat. You start out as a mediocre swordsman with few strengths, but you gain abilities and learn new skills (a la Minish Cap.) With the Wiimote, there would be a new level of interactivity to the game. 2. Abandon most items save for the bow, a hookshot type weapon, sword, and shield. It focuses more on puzzle solving and using your head. Say you are in a large room with a chandelier and several large bookcases, cabinets, items of the like. Below the chandelier is a weak floor you have to break through to advance. You could grapple up to the chandelier and slash it with the sword to break through the floor or shoot the chain with an arrow to break it. Another way would be to push the cabinets onto the floor and the weight would break through. 3. Extremely similar to #1, but it adopts a gameplay style reminiscent of Oblivion minus the RPG. 4. On that note, LoZ RPG anyone? So, thoughts? |

That could be tough without being too gimmicky. Flicking the Wiimote will send the ball flying depending on the intensity of your wrist motion. Its a bit of a tough call.

It really makes you think how difficult it is to develop a game. So many parameters must be met to make it enjoyable.

It isn't, and here's your proof: N-Sider.com: Wii Zelda: Unfortunate Reality
"Twilight Princess will be, without a doubt, the last Zelda game as you know it in its present form." I don't recall reading anything about the DS as TravestyHelp has mentioned, maybe he can try and shed more light onto that. -BGS

I think they'll use a slight mixture of both.
They'll add more interactivity, but also change the way the game is played. Maybe a new fighting engine, or maybe even change up the plot a bit. Maybe Ganondorf's triforce of power will get taken by something else.

Re: My thoughts on a future Zelda game.
Hey, saw this post, had to comment!
Ok, the metroids series of games has come a long way, but nothing in really seamed to change that much. You always had a large world to explore, gaining more access as you acquired your list of beams and visors and a certain amount of special gear. You fought many small villains, a few major villains, and a main villain. End game, and we all love it. But then they made metroid prime 3. This game was just as good as any old metroid game in that it still had all of the old aspects, but then it went so much further. Obviously, there was the motion sensing controller, but above that is what I'm referring too. Your not given just one world to traverse, but you have to travel between planets, in your ship which is now something more than a save station. And you can even call it in to aid you in puzzles! That's the kind of upgrade that I'm talking about. Well, the point of what I'm saying, is that Zelda could benefit from some of the extra features and side quests that are regularly featured in other RPG's as long as it didn't cut into the standard Zelda formula that we all know and love. Little things, like for example: a selection of various suits of armor, twilight princess is the only one to explore this, but you only have three choices. Different swords and weapons, yes, the main weaponry could still be required, but what if you could pick up and store enemy weapons for future use? What if this could be required to solve a puzzle? And also, what if there was just a few more people around who could want favors of you, that would give you rewards that weren't required for the main quest? Just my thoughts, but I think it would add a lot too the game ![]() Ooh, just thought of something else: what if link could learn how to use magic, and wield it in a fight, like fire or ice, so that he could have a firey sword, or freeze an enemy solid while dueling with him? What do ya think of that? |

Re: My thoughts on a future Zelda game.
Maybe adding quests would be cool, and more items for you to spend your money on. It would be kinda cool to be able to backtrack extensively to other dungeons with new abilities and actually be able to do something more than goof off.
Last paragraph sounds a bit like the game "Bioshock: The Ocarina of Time" |
