What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

Ignoring sidequests and parts where the player gets stuck for 3 days, how long should the next Zelda game be? Is it possible for a Zelda game to get too long?

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

You can't really say how long, it depends on the individual TP was rated at around a 60 hour game to complete without sidequests.

Guessing a 200 hour game would be too big then?

Well, I like long games, because I hate when you feel like you barely started the game, and then it ends.
Just in my opinion, I'd say...40-70 hours is reasonable. Beyond 70 is just too long.

How long it needs to take because a Zelda game is never too long because every part is perfect, 'nough said!

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

I would like a game that would take ages, but I wouldn't want it to be consistent and annoying. I want some new and exciting every time you turn the corner. Oh, I hope it would be thrilling. One of a kind. Going down in history kind.

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

I'd say about the same as Ocarina of Time. Because it has a good length, if you don't know the solution to every puzzle. If not the length of OoT, then bigger. But not TOO big, because then it would start to get boring, and if it was TOO long, the number of heart pieces would shrink, lessening the number of sidequests.

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

I'm surprised that so far there's been only one vote for a game as long as TP but more votes for a game as long as OoT and a game that makes TP look short. I guess that most people want the game to be either medium or long. I wasn't expecting many people to vote for a game as long as MC, but I had to put that as an option anyway. If the game was really long, than should it have a lot of dungeons like alttp, or should it have a normal amount of dungeons that are really huge?

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

I'd say a game that you can beat through the final boss in a month of regular playing (I'm obsessed when I first pick up a game so a week.)

I would then like finishing all the sidequests to take literal ages.

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

I would want a long game. A game where I can spend just as much time outside of the Dungeon before I get bored. A game where I can play for a few hours and think 'Damn I still haven't made a dent in beating this game!"

In short, I want a long game. Something I can spend a few hours on each day and still have plenty to do in the end

Of course as long as its not a bunch of repetitive tasks.

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

TP took me a grand total of 38 hours to beat (sidequests, cave of ordeals, and all) without these, I probably could have beaten it in 30-35 hours.

I want a game that takes 50 hours for the main quest (not that much really), but the side quests/minigames should have a deal of replay value thus adding to hours played.

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

However long the developers see fit.

The duration of the game can be compensated and can be equally determined by how hard the difficulty is within the game -- which is preferable method of how I, personally, would like how the gameplay of the next Zelda game to be majority determined by (obviously a decent amount of content is a no-brainier).

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

Well I don't remember how many days TP took me but I'd guess about a week. And to me that's just too short. Even playing all day, without any guides, I want to be there at LEAST 2-3 weeks. But I think that it should be the way it was in MM, where all the sidequests put together took as long as the entire main storyline did. That way you're not afraid of running out of dungeons, because you know there are tons of long things to do even after the game is done. TP's poe hunts and things do not count as sidequests. It's good to have something to hunt for, but as a sidequest it's a joke compared to the Couple's Mask sequence. Those are the kinds of things I want brought back.

Re: What should the minimal length of the next Zelda game be?

This is the official, and right answer.

I want a game, where even if you use cheats, glitches, and a guide, that a speed run would take 30+ hours.

For reference, what's considered a good time for an OoT or TP speed run?

It doesn't matter, if any speed run takes 30+ hours, then the game will be much longer which would be delightful. And I'm honestly not sure how long a speed run would be.

One thing they really need to avoid is scenarios like OoT's Bottom of the Well, where you can skip 90% of the dungeon without using any sort of cheat. I heard this is also possible in the MQ Water Temple but unconfirmed on that

Well yeah, that's why I said without any cheats, glitches, etc.
