Multiplayer Zelda Combat system....
If your thinking... I don't want everyone to be link...
-Think... What would I want as Alternate costumes? These are personal thoughts... You don't need to agree or disagree based on it "Has to be this way" -If you think you know how to make it more balanced... describe it to meh.... Weapons -Sword- --Combo System-Is going to be particularly interesting since I believe it should also become a combo system... Most ground swipes throw enemy up into the air... you have to jump to get them swipe downward then stab towards the ground as a finisher... --Sword vs sheild-A sheild can block any sword strike for an infinite amount of time... however... if the sword user gets very close... like right next to them... they do an unblockable attack... Thus... Sword users when going against sheild users are advised to time their attacks so they are prograssivly getting close and not to do too many while at the same time doing enough to make their enemy afraid to strike since their attack might be too slow and they will be vulnerable to get hit... --Hookshot Scenarios-You can hookshot your enemy and as you pull them in you can strike them... likewise as your enemy is being pulled in they can strike you... so its a test to see who has the best timing and knows the length of their sword the best... --Sheild vs Sheild-When two people run at eachother with sheilda, it becomes a push battle (press forward rapidly)... However, you can still do slower yet useful attacks with your sword... These attacks aren't as fast as normal sword strikes but its unblockable since your at such close range... it becomes a race to see who is the first to strike... and if you do it at the same time... you clash swords... no harm done... or push your enemy off a cliff while they are trying to stab you.... --Sheild + Hookshot Scenarios-These scenarios present a particularly interesting obstacle... Both you and your enemy need to wait till you get to extreme close range and then its a race to see who will strike first.... -Sheild-Use to defend against sword strikes, Bow and arrows and some of the Bombs Blast radius -Hookshot-Use it to escape fights, reach sniper towers/high points, reach extreme low points safely or bring your enemy close to you, -Bomb-Hits a spherical radius... A great combo with the hookshot... and ways to control where your enemy is moving... -Gale Boomerang-Makes enemies and bombs go flying into the air.... while in the air you have no directional influence.... so your screwed.... -Ball and chain-Goes through sheilds. Has a minimum range of the furthest sword reach and a maximum range of a boomerang... -Bow and arrow-Long range or a quick attack on your enemy if they aren't blocking... can be easily used as a fear tactic to make your enemy block more and in consequence give you the oppertunity to attack with your sword endlessly... Magic... is a different scenario.... -Use your imaginations kids.... -The only one I really care about is Faeore's Wind... Heres a couple of Scenarios Scenario 1 -You run at them with your sword -They put up their sheild -You continuously attack -They continueously defend -You eventually are able to use your momentum to pin them against a wall... and your attacks become different and impossible to escape... Scenario 2 -You rush with your sheild -They rush with their sheild -You get into a pushing battle with your enemy... -He draws his sword and stabs you with it since your at such close range.... Scenario 3 -You throw a bomb in front of them -They sit there with their sheild defending against the explosion and possible arrows... -you hookshot them right before the bomb explodes... -While You are reeling them in, the bomb explodes underthem.... Scenario 4 -You throw your boomerang -They avoid it by moving closer to you and rush you with their sheild -You pull out a bomb and side step them -They turn towards you -You try and Suicide bomb them -They survive since they had their sheild up Scenario 5 -FPS arows at long ranges -They rush you with their sheild at mid range -You get out your ball and chain and hit them before they get too close Scenario 6 -You hookshot your enemy -They stab you right before you try to stab them Scenario 7 -You throw a bomb behind your enemy and prepare with sheild -They come towards you but side strafe around you instead -You back up knowing they are quicker on the draw when it comes to sheild/hookshot/sword play.... -You throw a boomerang -They avoid it by getting closer to you... -You throw a bomb in front of them and prepare an arrow -They don't use the boomerang to avoid getting hit by the arrow and instead back up with their sheild -You prepare the ball n chain -They get out their Bow and arrow -You hit them with the ball Its more of a match of wits.... |

Re: Multiplayer Zelda Combat system....
O.o Oh wow you put a lot into this, and I think it would be a great idea! I think I would like to see the use of the hammer (the skull hammer from WW preferably), though I'm not really sure about how it could be used.... Perhaps heavy damage and a parylize effect if the enemy was close enough and a longer lasting effect if the enemy got hit with it?
Also, would the magic arrows come into play? I think it would add more stratagy to the game if they did. Again, this is a killer idea, nicely done.

I was thinking the hammers can go through peoples sheilds but they have significant start up and ending lag... so... its the kind of weapon you want to get good with... while the swords are just for the people that don't want to take the time and effort. I also want to include knockback... But thats just because I love how epic it is when your knocked back like 10 feet after getting hit by a 100 pound hammerhead I'm thinking... The way the magic would work is like this Ends Fights quickly-Fire-Damage upgrade and something... Prolongs Fights-Ice-defense upgrade and slows things down THe true fun-Wind-speed upgrade and more control over wear things go You would use damage upgrade if you want to end a match quickly. Usually when your down and your looking for a risky win by charging with your sheild or hookshot for a straight head to head sword battle. Or... You love to just own people.... You would use defense upgrade if your afraid of losing but you know your better then your enemy, so your trying to equal out the scenario or you want to prolong your life even though you know your going to lose Speed upgrade just makes you more difficult to keep track of in terms of ball and chain ranges and assaults...

-I have considered multiple sword types --Biggron-Longer range but Ending Lag --Master-Medium range but some lag --Short-Can be used with two hands allowing a semi auto attack system I put in the ball and chain, I'm also considering a hammer that has significant start up lag but would cause major blowback and stunning. Magic Arrows/Sword/Boomerang Blessings (press Z while using your weapon to give it magical properties -Fire-Extra fire Damage -Ice-Slows -Wind-Moves People around (boomerang pops things upward, Arrows brings things toward the arrow, Sword Blows things Back) -Light-Destroys MP -Dark-Blinds People for a second Special Ability -Nayrus Love-Invincibility. Everygame lasts at least 15 seconds... after that... your going to get torn apart by your enemy... if your a noob... -Dins Fire-Burning Link. Fires spread all around link for about 15 seconds, fire doesn't stun people it just does damage. So, you can still dominate someone using this... but... if the person wants to feel good about themselves because without it they wouldn't win, they won't have it... -Faores Wind-Works like the old one... It will be a very tricky thing Sword fighting system (Gamecube controller) -Press R to let the sword out of their sheath and it stabs --Use the cstick to choose which direction the sword will come from (inverted or regular choices) (when the sword is out it no longer controlls which person its targeting) ---Depending on the way you hit the opponent, they will be blown back a bit in that direction (you want to hit them upwards for combos) (hit them on the side to push them into other people) Jumps-Evades horizontal attacks and is effecting against sheilding foes Rolls-Evades vertical attacks and is good against people targeting others I'm considering not having Ice or Fire weapons... but...
