What would you change about everybody's favorite swordsman if you were designing the next game?
![]() Personally, I think link lacks character development. A good character has problems and does things wrong and has flaws. Even though link is the main character it seems like he is being led around by all the other characters. He should have his own problems to conquer. Idk maybe it's just me but he needs more intrest.![]() PS: please don't think i'm bashing link or zelda because i love the games, however i think that they would have more quality if Link had problems

Re: What is wrong with link?
I think zelda games should give you more choices than Yes or No for Link to say. TP mixed it up, but it was the same choices. Link needs to interact with more people. The walking people that wouldn't talk to you got on my nerves in TP. Link has to improve social skills.

Re: What is wrong with link?
Him actually reacting to the opposite gendre. I know it would somewhat ruin the story and the game itself at points, but at least make it epic.
Seriously, you don't know how many people I know say that he's gay. ![]() Then again, it makes me wonder as well... |

Re: What is wrong with link?
I would actually make him his own character. Nintendo always stands behind that "Link is you" philosophy, but I think it would be for the better if Link became an actual character in the games instead of a way for the player to immerse him or herself.

Re: What is wrong with link?
Indeed Links already branched out hell in TWW he even had voiced dialouge. They really need to make Link an actual character

Re: What is wrong with link?
Link's okay, but we need a bit of personality from him. We got that from TP a little.
For instance, when Illia didn't seem to recongnize him, he looked as if he were about to break down in tears in the bar. When you entered Hama's shop (The fishing lady) for the first time, his face glows and he looks like a child in a candy store for a few seconds. But I think we may want some more. For instance, how does he feel to have the weight of the world on his shoulders? From what we see, he's just happily striding along to meet his destiny. Saving the entire land by himself at the age of 10 to 17 (Varying the diffrent Links) and he seems okay with it? I would think that most 10 year olds who have been informed that they are the last hope for peace may be a bit put off. Also, actually have a romantic devolpment between him and a girl character. Now, I'm not saying I want a full shirtless make-out session like they do in Hollywood, but I just want to feel like Link is actually DETERMINED! I want to feel shock and anger through Link when something happens to his friend (or girlfriend), instead of "Okay, here we go again, saving the damsel." I want to feel like Link's actually a part of Hyrule, not just a player's insert. Maybe he has friends living in various parts of the land and when we go there, he reactes in some way (and they do as well). Again, that's just my opinion.

Re: What is wrong with link?
I like how in Phantom Hourglass, Ciela pretty much says what most of us would imagine Link to say, and Linebeck pretty says what most of us would really say in these kind of situations, like bragging about his performances but backing off when things get dangerous.

Re: What is wrong with link?
Yes, Link needs a bit more personality. But that's not to say he doesn't have have one. Link's expressions are really all he has to make his character.
OoT & MM Link came off as a bit sad to me even at the start of the game. Seemed like he wasn't too happy being forced to grow up and save Hyrule and every time he lost a friend because they became a sage, it broke his heart a little more and the fact that this was his destiny became even more of a burden. Wind Waker Link had an adventurous air about him. He liked being given the opportunity to explore the other islands and his determination to save his sister and then Hyrule was more evident and rather than being forced to, he seemed more willing. I would do the other Links, but I think the point was made. But like most said: Link does need to become more a character in the game rather than a character for the gamer to use to get into the game. |

Re: What is wrong with link?
Maybe he could have real emotions that effect the gameplay.
For example, if he was angry, his attack power would increase and if he was scared, he would see illusions and if he was excited, his overall performance would increase. I also think he should fall in love with a girl and whatever happens with the two of them would influence links emotions. |

Re: What is wrong with link?
Because change keeps from things getting stale & old. I would like to see get a little ticked the fate of Hyrule was thrust on his shoulders when he was happily living with his friends/family/whatever.
