So, after Majora's Mask....

What happens to Link?

Some people say that he returned to Hyrule. That doesn't make any sense to me.

Link: Well, I didn't find Navi in Termina. Screw this, going back home.

I believe that in the next LoZ game, we should return to OoT's Link as he resumes his search for his friend in a new dimension. One thing a lot of people like about Majora's Mask was that it was 100% original. New villain, new land, new everything. It stayed true to Zelda while offering new concepts. WW and TP have both been set in a Hyrule that's been blanketed in something. (water/shadow)

This game would have a realistic art style like TP, but would use the same characters from OoT/MM. They'd have new occupations and personalities like they did in MM. The game would share some things with MM, such as a grim tone and ultra complicated dungeons. Side quests would be a main focus in the game as in MM. Basically, a successor to the unfinished story that was the Hero of Time's.

Thoughts?

Re: So, after Majora's Mask....

Well, we know he went back home because they show him in the Lost Woods at the end. What he did, or where he went once he got back to Hyrule...who knows.

I think Nintendo is done with the Hero of Time, but eh, you never know. I doubt we'll get to see Hero of Time Link in a foreign land, but I'd say it's very possible we'll see TP Link in a foreign land. Consider the trend Nintendo has going:

OoT-MM
WW-PH
aLttP-LA
LoZ-AoL

Each of sets have one Link. Each of these sets have one game in Hyrule, and one game out of Hyrule.

The only games that don't have direct sequels are MC and TP, so I'd say it's quite possible we'll see a MC or TP sequel in a different land in the future.
Also, both the Oracles happened outside of Hyrule, and both of the FS games took place in Hyrule. Even so, it appears every Link gets two games, and then he's done. Usually one in Hyrule and one out.

Re: So, after Majora's Mask....

I had never thought about that. But his story is never really finished, and just because he goes back to the Lost Woods doesn't mean he goes back to Hyrule. The Lost Woods led him to Termina, they could lead him to other dimensions as well. Maybe the Lost Woods is just a big interdimensionary hub that leads to every land in the Zelda Universe. I dunno.

Plus OoT Link is probably the Link everyone remembers with the most fondness. Maybe Nintendo could make an exception to their unwritten 2-game rule.

I really donīt think he went back to Hyrule, he just continued his search for navi into the woods. We definitely need another game with the Hero of Time.

I don't think he went back to Hyrule. I agree with Grevados, that doesn't make any sense. Erimgard also has a good point with the trend of link's getting 2 games, but I do feel another game with the Hero of Time should happen. I would love to see that story finished.

98% of Zelda fans think Twilight Princess is the best thing to happen to the series ever. If you're one of the 2% who think TP is overrated, copy and paste this in your sig.
