Insect Race

There are many races in the Zelda series. There are the Zoras (fish like), the Gorons (rock like), the Ritos (bird like), and the Koroks (plant like). I propose that there be a race that is insect like. I don't know what this race would be called but I do have ideas for it.

I would like this race to be human size and to have human qualities. The race could possibly be based off of bees, dragonflies, butterflies, ants, mantises, or some other insect species but not mosquitoes or house flies (I just don't like those). I want this race to be a friendly one. They should have a society in which everyone works hard for the good of the group.

Making this race based off of bees would allow them to fly and also to sting enemies. The place that they live in looks like a giant beehive. A bee race could produce honey that Link could put into a bottle and drink for health. A giant queen bee like creature could be their guardian deity.

An ant like race would be similar to ants the same way that the bee race would be similar to bees.

I don't really have any ideas for any other races. If you have any ideas then I'd like to hear them. I think that this would be great in a future Zelda game.

Dragonflies were pronounced enemies in MM, when you're Deku Link, and you have to make your way to the first Dungeon they try to stop you, hurt you, and make you fall out of the air.

BUT! I do like the idea of a Mantis race, that would be interesting.

Butterflies, no.

Ants, that would be kinda weird.

As for the bees, don't enough enemies hurt Link with there butts? He's probably got poop stains on hius tunic.

Eew thats sounds gross, but it is an interesting idea and if they did it well it might work, depends on which insect though.

How about bears. There's no bears in Zelda games.

^ Well, if the Kokirians/Koroks represents the forest and Gorons represented the earth, then what do insects represent? They both live in forest or earth areas, but this means that they will interfere with the other two races.

But it sounds interesting. I just can't see an important role for them.

Legend of Zelda: Insect Utopia

This time around Link must fight to save the Insect Utopia from the evil Ganonsect(Ganondorf) from obtaining the Divine Honey Comb of Power. He will travel through beehives scattered all over the land of Hyrule in an attempt to stop Ganonsect. Failing will result in the enslavement of Insectians all over Hyrule!

Also Honey's price will sky rocket in Market Town...

Anyways I dont see how having an insect like race could hurt. Would add something new to a game thats becoming to repetitive when it comes to the Races.

We already have an insect race. They're called Sheikah.

Er... Aren't they the race that represents the shadows? The closest race to be an insect would be the Kokirians/Koroks.

If we're thinking of insect races, I could see a race of ants living on Death Mountain with the Gorons. They would compete for space, and Link has to find a way for them to get along in order to pass through Death Mountain.

Realistically speaking, we already have races for every domain:

Rito: Sky
Shiekah: Shadow
Gerudo: Desert
Goron: Mountain
Deku: Swamp
Hylian: Field
Zora: Water
Kokiri: Forest

Those are my preferred races, and I think Nintendo should just expand on them.

I think they should have a hive mind. Basically, there are no individuals, thier minds are all connected.

As for appearance, how about something similar to this?

I believe that the insect race and the kokiri would have their own parts of the lost woods to live in. If the two races stay out of each others territories than they won't fight with each other.

...The first part was not linked to the second, thus the space between them. I meant that the best way of executing the idea of an insectoid race would be to make them ants.

My preference:

Field: Hylian
Forest: Korok
Mountain: Subrosian/Goron (can't choose)
Water: Tokay
Shadow: Sheikah... but I'd prefer another race
Desert: Gerudo
Swamp: Deku
Ice: Yook
Sky: Rito

For some reason, I can't picture an insect race in the Zelda series.
Maybe not a huge race but maybe there could be something small where Link meets a tribe of ants or some other kind of insect?
I don't know, just my ideas.
If there was a new race, how would it get there? Just appear one day, or have some kind of story?

It may have been nice to see another mini race in TMC. It could be an insect race, but of course be insect size.

Yes, I agree. They could either be dangerous to the Picori, or be the main, friendly race of ... the Castor Wilds. Insects would fit in a swamp, right?

If this race did appear in a future Zelda game then it would have probably have hidden itself from the Hylians for hundreds of years. I want them to be friendly towards Link and other Hylians. It might be a good idea to make this race small, but if they were big and were able to fly, then one of them could help Link by giving him rides to places that he normally couldn't reach. It would be cool if at one point, Link and his bug friend were in an air battle and the insect guy would attack using his stinger. Link would control the insect guy as he's riding on it and attack enemies with arrows or something.

I agree. Either mantis-like or ant-like. It would be very inetresting, in both story and sidequest. Either the Mantis are a peaceful race whom were enslaved by the Occas and they won against them. The mantis were then sealed by the Gods since of the connection between the Occas and the Gods. The mantis promised they would destroy all of their decendants. Now they are here, fighting for a world where they only reign.

The ants are a peaceful race of hard working people whom dedicated their life to help the Hylians. You can help them by escorting them to their work spot, bringing them their tools and helping them demolish building, even pay them to build a certain building!

i think there should be a mantis-race. they'd have blades for arms. you can't get much cooler than that.

but seeing as everyone else has a place in hyrule, it'd probably be ants in an underground colony that spans the whole kingdom. once link saves them, he could use their tunnels as a sort of shortcut around the place. but he couldn't get to certain areas unless he had certain items.

I agree on the ant colony shortcut. Also, this could also affect the element of the medallions, since every race has a medallion:

Hylian: Light
Kokiri: Forest
Goron: Fire
Zora: Water
Sheikah: Shadow
Gerudo: Dessert
Ant: Underground/Land

Some important places in the colony would be the Queen's Castle, Temple of Under/Below and a Market.
