Unification War (my Game Idea)
I know a lot of people hate prequels, but I for one love them, and I was thinking: what if they set a game during the Unification War? The plot could go something like this:
The game starts out with Link, living similarly to the Link of TP. A herald from castle town enters the village, telling of a great evil army approaching Hyrule ,and that swordsmen are needed by the King. Soon after, the village is sacked by a bokoblin regiment and the herald is killed. Knowing he needs to save Hyrule, Link sets out. In this game, the map is much more like that of AoL, with many kakariko-sized villages and a large central castle town. Link must ride through Hyrule, with many events such as storms or floods forcing him to take refuge in villages he finds along the way. These villages are being attacked by more regiments of the evil army, and by enlisting the help of villagers he will save each village and kill the respective evil commanders. There will be a small dungeon aspect to each town, like the smaller dungeon found in the first half of OoT. The game will be much more free roam than past Zelda's, with the ability to go wherever in a giant hyrule field with many sub-areas such as wastelands and mountain passes. After finding and entering Castle Town, which looks much like a roman city, with a colliseum, Link enters the town square. He then learns that there are sign-ups for a gladiator competition to find the youth to save Hyrule. He learns that the only way Hyrule can be saved is to enlist the help of the races living in their own realms outside the Kingdom, and that the King is looking for the best fighter in Hyrule to venture forth as his diplomat. Link enters the competition and there is a multi-day tournmanet in which Lnik faces several different fighters (bowmen, swordsmen, pikemen) in a style similar to the battle colliseum in Tales of Symphonia. After winning, Link is awarded the Royal Sword (not the Master Sword) and is told to head to the lands of the other races, outside Hyrule. Link is then free to head to each of the races' lands ( death monutain for gorons, woods for kokiri, inland sea for zoras, wasteland for sheikah, desert for gerudo, jungle for deku) and to any remaining villages. Each land will be under seige by a different regiment of the evil army, and the game's dungeons will be mostly outdoor, in a similar concept to the courtyards of Hyrule Castle in TP. After pushing the evil army form Hyrule and collecting a token of trust from each race, the skies above Castle Town split open and a golden light shines down. Rushing to Castle Town, Link finds an angel descending, a member of the original sky race. The angel brings Link to the heavens, and tells Link the goddesses wish to see if he is truly the savior of Hyrule. He is sent into a classic Zelda styled temple, and when he comes out he is praised by the sky race as the true savior. He is graned the sowrd of the goddesses, the master sword, and shown of the rest of the evil army, millions strong and approaching from the mountain passes to the North. Link goes back to Earth and heralds each village of Hyrule and each race to bring their armies and fight. In a scene similar to the traielr of TP, Link and his army ride to meet the foes. In the giant battle, Lnik slices through the soldiers, fighting to reach the evil general. Along he way, link fights alongside each of the races' commanders, including the angels; he saves the life of the kokiri commander and the sheikah are killed. Eventually reaching the general, Link sees the first sight of the evil leader, an evil demi-god. In the center of the fray, Link does battle with the general and eventually kills him, allowing an easy victory for the remaining Hyrulean troops. At the end of the story, the races of HJyrule end their distrust of one another and unify Hyrule. Link is told by the angels that the demi-god will be reborn again to take Hyrule, but that Link's bloodline will be heros (explaining the origins of the Link-Ganondorf cycle). In respect for the soldier who saved their leader, the kokiri don the garb of Link, a green tunic and hat (why they all wear this clothing in OoT). I know this is a huge wall of text, but any thoughts? What do you guys think? |

Re: Unification War (my Game Idea)
congrats you came up with a game idea that every zelda fan who is a regular here for a few months has already thought of. Also, you spen a lot of time typing up an idea that will never garner any real/important recogniton. Basically what I'm saying is: congrats on wasting your time and mine.

Re: Unification War (my Game Idea)
This game could either be really good for the timeline or really bad. I see it as being really good. So I'm just wondering, the war described in OoT is supposed to happen when that Link was being born. What happens to the Link in your game idea? Does he die, retire, go on a journey? Something must happen to him since he isn't around in OoT to save Hyrule.

Re: Unification War (my Game Idea)
Nintendo should really look at our game ideas and use one of them. They should also give credit to whoever came up with the idea that they chose. Oh, well. I guess that the people at Nintendo don't have enough time to look at our ideas because they are trying to come up with their own game ideas that will have potentially confusing content. How will the timeline be messed up with the next Zelda title?
