Zelda RTS

Don't get scared by just the title, this wont be a side project for Nintendo, we'll let Ensemble Studios create one.

What do you guys think? Speculate and think for possibility's.

sorry ,but what does RTS stand for?

Real Time Strategy, like Starcraft or Command and Conquer. It's an interesting thought, but I think it would deviate too far from the whole "lonely hero complex" that Zelda is prized for. But continuity aside, it would be awesome to play from Ganon's point of view. Sending Iron Knuckles and Bokoblins at a Hyrulean encampment could be entertaining. I kinda liked the Warcraft III hero system with leveling and inventory, but I don't think I could place Link or Zelda as playable charachters. They're fighting the good fight, we're just out here killing each other

Nah, I don't think this is something that is RTS worthy. It wouldn't feel like Zelda, as they would have to make up alot of new stuff for units and such, and if it didn't originally come from a game, alot of fans would be a bit perturbed imo.

And part of the trouble is figuring out which time they would set it in.

Just thinking out loud here, they could do like a knights of the old republic, make it about the ancient Hylian Knights and the war for the Triforce. A piece of history, but not a part of the main canon. I'm sure some modder has done it out there already

As long as it doesn't stop them from making the regular Zelda games, they can make any amount of spinoffs they want and it's fine by me.

I like the idea; Zelda certainly has good battleground locales and an abundance of races. However, for everything but the forces of evil (Ganon+monsters), I don't see much unit variety among any other race. Even if they did a straight-up good side vs evil side, there doesn't seem to be a lot of options for the good guys.

I'm trying to see the races...
-I feel like they're all too unbalanced to work...
--Gorgons would kill EVERYTHING!!!! (kinda indestructable...)

But If you wanted... we could make a custom one using Warcraft 3...

The map editor allows a LOT of customization...

Hmm, Halo is doing it, but I think it's nothing for Zelda. Maybe a mmorpg, maybe a turn-based strategy game(unlikely, Nintendo already has Fire Emblem as it's fantasy TBS), but not a RTS.

By the way, Zelda should stay off the spin-off path. LCT was blasphemy against the Zelda-image and the golden godesses, and the series shouldn't become a Mario-like milking franchise.
