Ganondorf utilizes two habitats in OoT, Hyrule castle and is other place of habitat before he moved into Hyrule temple. What if this Ganondorf's castle or whatever he lived in became a temple once he moved out? Could be a very dark temple, with town people dead here and there (maybe a bit to graphic?), obviously the weapon within the castle would be something to do with light.

Well I does'nt want a more scary temple in zelda the shadow temple and the arbiters grounds is to scary if you're under 10 and I ARE under 10 cause I'm 9 years only so.... sudently a very big SUPER DETAILED SCARY UNFACED BLEEDING REDEAD jumps out and scares ya!!! What I would say: MOOOOM!?!?!??! wwhoopsie I pee'ed my self! ![]()

Like Boss Lurching around is a solid idea. like the minotaur in the Labyrinth.
Maybe have Link's health s l o w l y drain for the whole time he was in the temple? I also like the unexitable aspect by kralen. There would have to be surprises, like monsters hiding in the walls who could jump out and grab Link as he walked past. Ghosts floating around aimlessly... blood could help to, Like Link gets stabbed and actually bleeds for once. but I could see nintendo not wanting blood in there... Remember the cutscene w/ Lanayru in TP? how ilia just gets really creepy and disturbing. there could be prisoners who are possessed and don't even necessarily attack you. they just do wierdo things. that'd bug me out. dark mirror images of link could split into four parts and attack link at different points. Also, the boss that lurched around could have a scaaary call like a shrieking woman or something, so right before it catches you, you're scared outta your mind. Bottom line, the most important aspects are surprise and the knowledge that Link is being hunted the whole freaking dungeon. |

there should be like a door partly open and you can see a zombie or person walk infront of it then when you go through, it would be gone or atleast hiding behid the door, and when you are looking around, it would do a loud scream and attack you. i got that from the game F.E.A.R.

A spooky soundtrack, undead and undefeatable enemies, a constant threat to Link throughout the dungeon, and loads of other ideas listed already.

I saw the idea of an invincible boss lurking around earlier in the thread and that gave me the idea of the entire temple being one big boss fight. Instead of getting an item in the middle of the temple, you would get it right at the beggining and then you would have to chase around the boss. The item would be some sort of stealth weapon like a knife and the boss itself would also have a knife. The temple would be just a giant labrynth and the fight would essentially be a stealth fight. Whoever stealth attack the other to death first wins.

Well, I'm pretty easy-scared.
First, the soundtrack. Quiet and calm at first, but sometimes going all ominous in a Jaws style. Surprises, of course, and blood and gore, maybe. Sinister stuff, hell yes. I like the idea of Twilight_Phantom's, but I'd think it would be creepier if the undead actually never appears after you enter. Illusions would freak the hell out of people. Why, it could actually be a dungeon based more on traps and with very few enemies, but with a lot of mirages. Why not some creepy things that just stare at you but never do anything? Like paintings. Masks, too. And random paintings of brutal acts. Text (in Hylian) telling about terrible events. Illusions of you that walk away and disappear, or become brutally killed by illusionary monsters. Among others. |

I think the remake of another Shadow temple, but the song is extremely eerie that it makes your hair stand on end. And it would be much bigger than Ocarina of Time with death just everywhere. Corpses littering the grounds and blood covering the walls and even messages written with blood that explains about hatred and everything depressing. Also, you can only see if you obtain a latern where the light doesn't go that far up ahead in the corridor and you can't see or tell what is waiting for you at the end of the corridor.
Enemies of death would just run up to you or sneak up to you... That would scare me to the point where I would rip the power cord of the wall. Also the lantern would flicker shadows everywhere in the dead silence. That would be the scariest Zelda game.

The thing about an invincible boss hunting you throughout the entire dungeon sounds a lot like 2-4 from Super Paper Mario. Now, that's not a bad thing when it comes to creepy areas. I remember almost jumping about 3 feet into the air on more than one occasion when I thought I had gotten away, and then that particular theme that indicated her approach suddenly came on. Something like that was definitely unexpected, but anyway, since your talking about scary dungeons, that's a nice thought.
Now then, as for what I'd want in a scary dungeon, none of this gore stuff. It's just not Zelda-esque. Maybe some blood, but not a lot, too much would make it just disgusting. Anyway, how about this. There are those eye switches scattered throughout the temple, the treasure is the bow, and when you shoot one of them, it either moves some walls, opens some trapdoors in the ceiling that drop some haunted theme-based enemies into the room, or opens a trapdoor below Link that drops him into an abyss. For that, some gore might actually be fitting, since gore can also be impaling someone. Link could get impaled on a metal spike or a jagged rock formation, (got that one from Resident Evil 4. I'll never play that again...), but only if he has too little health to survive a plunge into an abyss, so it would kill him. Anyway, that could accompany the 'invincible boss hunting Link' idea, like as the boss approaches you, you can shoot a certain eye switch to close off the path between it and Link with a moved wall, and it would have to find a way around it. It would involve some serious AI on the programmers part, and quite a bit of strategy on the players part. When I think scary, I think a creepy scenario in which every second is crucial. |

Spooky? When the heck was anything in Zelda "spooky".
Oh wait... I'm 21.... meh. Still even as a child I never found anything in Zelda to be spooky. I just.. don't get it. If anything, the spookiest thing in any zelda game is the ghosts down in the "drainage area", aka sewers, of Hyrule castle in Twilight Princess. |

only five enemies throughout the whole dungeon: like-likes, bubbles, redeads, gibdos, and wallmasters. none of that gore stuff either, just creepy.

I hope that if nintendo makes a really creepy dungeon, they would also make it very complex. If the dungeon made you feel scared, it would affect your thinking, thus making the dungeon harder.
I also hope that the dungeon has a creepy backstory to it, maybe criminals that deserved to suffer rather than just be executed were put in the dungeon to suffer until they eventually die. ![]() I would want the dungeon to have a spooky sound track, like in the forest temple in oot, at one point the music slowly got louder, to me it felt like something was getting closer. ![]() I would want the dungeon to be truly maddening, and insane, twisted. There could be long, dark and narrow corridors, where a monster could jump out at any time. There could be traps, and they could bring back the false walls and floors like in oot. Once in oot in the bottom of the well I saw a chest and ran towards it, but I fell down a hole in the floor, they could do things like that in the dungeon. ![]() Of course, the dungeon shouldn't be too creepy, it's not a survival horror game, and besides, I might be too scared to go in. ![]()

my idea 4 a new temple is 1 where you are in outer space, and you have to walk around using the lens of truth beacuse the ground is invisible. to kill the boss, since you are in outer space he hits the ground, and you get sent up to his head, and hit his eye. when u have done that 5 times, he covers his eye w/ one hand, and hits the ground blindly with the other, you hit the shoulder connected to the arm he is holding his eye shut w/(when you are in the air of course). then he dies.
ianother idea of a new scary temple is kind like the well duengon, but in a castle, and with the lights dimmed and much harder. with the green blood all over the place with shadow link in it. Last edited by twilee013; 02-12-2008 at 05:29 PM. |
