One feature I'd really like for the next Zelda is...

...the ability to do some of the dungeons in any order you want, normally, without entering one dungeon and getting an item and leaving or glitching.

What was the last game to let you do that? LA? ALttP? OoX?

I would have liked if Ocarina's adult temples could be done in any order... (maybe Forest Temple first mandatory)...but that might have had issues with the items and dungeon design...

Also, one thing I cannot understand is why the Earth & Wind Temples had to be done in a specific order in TWW. You never need to use the item from one in the other temple....the only thing they would have had to have done was create two more cutscenes (so they could have Makar half powering the MS and Medli fully powering it).

But yeah, one feature I really want in Zelda Wii...

In OoT only the shadow and the spirit temple could be switched, that was a big decrease in comparision to ALttP.
I agree with you that I miss this feature, it made the game less linear and gave you a bigger feeling of independance.

That would be a great idea actually.
I doubt that it will happen though.

Yeah, wasn't that the original idea of Zelda?
Like, at least LoZ?
Looks like Nintendo's lost its first priority.

I agree with the dungeons being in any order but I would like for nintendo to put voices into the game. and for link to talk. putting dialogue into text breaks the realism especially in TP for Wii with its superior graphics and immersive gameplay.

Well...

That would cause a good occurence of controversy. Consider this stuff:

First off, you get to choose Link's name (Link is merely a default) in each of the games. Incorporating that into voice-acting would be difficult. With the voice acting, they'd have to only let you choose Link.

Second, there are a lot of characters, and not to say that every last person needs a voice actor, that would cost Nintendo a lot of money for a detail we oversee in a little bit of time. The characters would probably have voices reflecting their personalities, and we know how bad it is when you have a horrible voice actor or entire team of horrible voice actors.

Third, Link is kind of traditionally mute. Making Link talk would take away a player's individuality, and while this may not be a huge issue, everyone likes to see something with their own eyes.

Finally, there would be debate topics all across the world on Link's voice and additude. Nobody wants to see a Wand of Gamelon or Faces of Evil incident place its grimy hands on an awesome franchise. We'll be having "GTFO" sitcks waving all over the place. Besides, even if it is good, a great lot of people will dislike it. "Too deep" "Too masculine" "Too girlish" "Too young" "Too old" will pop up right and left.

So I hope I proved a point. I'M GOING TO BED.

Re: One feature I'd really like for the next Zelda is...

Links voice? he doesn't need a voice, THE REST of the cast does. every other character needs to talk, way more epic. Crap...games from 1980's had voice in them executed well enough that it didn't bug me. I'm sure nintendo could handle the money.

I don't really care what order the dungeons go in....why does it matter? what i care about is side quests and the ability to explore a vast world OUTSIDE the dungeons.

the next zelda needs to be co-op like 4 swords but in 3d and online. woot.

Actually, I don't think you can switch the Shadow & Spirit temples, well, at least not fully. I believe you need the Hover Boots for the Spirit Temple/Gerudo Fortress.

I myself completed the Spirit Temple first, but I entered the Shadow Temple and got the Hover Boots and left before I did so.

Once you get the Fairy Bow from the Forest Temple, you can go and do the Fire and Water Temples. I did that. I used the Longshot to damage Phantom Ganon instead of using the Bow.

Re: One feature I'd really like for the next Zelda is...

In Zelda, it's all about finding a new item in a temple then using that item against the temple boss. And they keep this idea for every Zelda game, so I don't think they wil make a Zelda game where you get to choose the order of how you want to complete the temples, because the items are necessary in completing temples in the right order.

(unless you play the temple, get the item, and go to next temple. w/ out beating the temple boss and leaving it all for last.)

Re: One feature I'd really like for the next Zelda is...

I would definitely like more control over when I do things. That was the original idea of Zelda. How about The Legend of Zelda: Animal Crossing, well not really but you get the idea nothing to structured just do what you want to do, lots of items but not all of them required.

Link should not have a voice, regardless of if other characters do Link should not.

That would be a really good idea...

Would make it harder having to figure out what temples and dungeons to do next, not just getting it all made obvious to you...

Re: One feature I'd really like for the next Zelda is...

I agree. Having the choice of what dungeon to go in next would be fantastic, and then finding out you need an item you don't have to complete would be a "Aw damn it" moment. You'll be able to explore, find out what you need, and do what you can to find it.

Voice acting would be great if done properly. In our minds, we already know Link's personality, which I think Nintendo wanted us to do so their voice acting could have an impact. I wouldn't mind it either way. Reading text is fine, just like the good old days.

I would also love to get rid of the '3-hit' boss-killing style it has. You hit the boss three times for it to transform, then another three times to kill it. I do hope they have several body parts of bosses you can hit, different damages, and difficulty to actually hit that area.

The storyline is repetitive, but it's what makes Zelda what it is. Hopefully, they can have some feature where Link can actually activate his Triforce of Courage to do some real damage. I understand that the Triforce can only be activated when all three are together, but let Link have a little fun.

One last thing, Link has such realistic swordplay, it's not as fun anymore. They should put in more creativity into it, fantasy swordplay. Link fights monstrous beasts, and kills them with basic sword swings, why not just let the Hyrulian Knights fight them. Link has a piece of the Triforce embedded in him, you'd think he'd be a kick ass swordsman.

One feature I'd really like for the next Zelda is...Cup Holders.

I do like the "pick your path" idea though.

You proved no point.

Nintendo are always referring to Zelda's hero as Link, so just call him Link, there's no big deal. Only some eight-year olds would complain about that.

Second, not all the characters need voice-acting. Only in cutscenes should it be needed. The cutscenes do really need them though. It would make important scenes more emotionally powerful.

Third, not once did I feel like I was Link in Twilight Princess. When a person reads a novel, or watches a movie they become attached to the characters. In Twilight Princess, the storyline went up another level. As the main character, they should show their emotions and feelings and express themselves with words. Link doesn't do that. Does he actually classify as a character then? Or is he just an animal that everyone is nice to?

Debates on how Link's voice and attitude are? I'm surprised there are no debates that Link already seemed a little emotional in TP even without the voice-acting.

Every played Final Fantasy X? That has voice-acting, and you can still name your character. I think they got around that by never having anybody refer to him by name.

I for one think this is a great idea. The Zelda series is getting too damn linear. Go to point A, enter dungeon A, kill boss A, go to point B, enter dungeon B... yawn. Obviously you couldn't go into, say, the Arbiter's Grounds before you've got any Fused Shadows, to use TP as an example, but there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to gather those Fused Shadows in whatever order we like. Same with the Mirror pieces.

Also, Aeriokin's comment about boss fights is so true it hurts. Hit it three times to kill it? Why not make the enormous, curse-bearing monsters powerful for a change? ALttP was great for boss fights because they took bloody ages. Especially Trinexx. They should bring him back, show the likes of Ghoma and Morpha how it's supposed to be done.

I believe I've gone off at a slight tangent. So, to summarise:
  • Voice acting is possible (though I still don't support it)
  • The order of dungeons should be variable (to a certain extent)
  • Bosses are becoming too easy
  • Bring back Trinexx

I agree

Having a defined storyline seems kind of annoying,
Or maybe have the story line,
but...
Include Sparing with different species in the area.
Ways to prove your worthy of magic/songs
