PC-based Zelda OFFICIAL NINTENDO RELEASE!!!

Sorry to get your hopes up, but not yet, folks. :0\

in 2010!!

hah, nope, sorry again... but when??

We all know that Zelda games are made for the systems. You make a game series popular, it sells systems.

But, do you think that there might ever be the chance for Nintendo to release a home computer based game-bank?

Is there even a reason for it? Technology?

Does the Wii replace anything that a home computer could do?

Would there be any advantages to a computer-based Nintendo game?

(Please don't tell me, "lolers, i pley mi zelduh gamez on mi compewtre!!1"...)

Re: PC-based Zelda OFFICIAL NINTENDO RELEASE!!!

Well seen as Nintendo already work alongside ATI with their graphics, i can easily see them doing something with maybe microsoft in the future. Not sure if it would be a good move or not. It means i would have to install windows as well as linux for it to work. Yuk. unless i mess about with source code, which i would rather not do.

Re: PC-based Zelda OFFICIAL NINTENDO RELEASE!!!

I have played several Zelda games on PC....in fact all of them exept for GCN ones, have you heard of emulators? they allow to play console games on a PC, you have to download ROMS and most let you configure controls however you like.

tough these are supposed to be illegal if you don't own the original cartridges/discs.

Re: PC-based Zelda OFFICIAL NINTENDO RELEASE!!!

They are illegal. Games are copyrighted material just like music, movies and books. If you read the back of a game manual where all the legal mumbo jumbo is at you'll see what I say is the truth.

Anyways.....

One benefit to a PC Zelda would be online multiplayer. If Nintendo ever makes a Zelda MMO, the PC would be the platform to do it with. They also wouldn't be tied down by hardware restraints.

Re: PC-based Zelda OFFICIAL NINTENDO RELEASE!!!

I don't think any console releases anything for their console and the computer. So no. Call of Duty and Halo started out as PC I believe and then went on to consoles.

So it will always go: PC to Console. Very rarely does it go to Console to PC.

Zelda just isn't that popular or hard-core to be put for PC.

Well I can see them doing that if Zelda decided to go online. Same thing as Final Fantasy11.

If there was an online Zelda, it would be for Wii, Nintendo is first party after all, why they would be making games for PC if they have their own thing?

Re: PC-based Zelda OFFICIAL NINTENDO RELEASE!!!

Zelda is Nintendo blood, it keeps them alive.
Why would put an amazing franchise all of a sudden onto another system draining life from their own consoles?

There's no logic in it at all.

What? Halo was on console before it was a PC game. And even if you were right, this has no bearing at all. CoD is developed by a 3rd party, and Halo is developed by a second party, who's a subsidiary of a corporation with a larger OS branch than console branch.

The reason why games like Mario or Zelda will never come to PC is not because they're not popular enough, (Mario is the most recognizable character in existence, even more well known than mickey mouse) but because there's no money to be made for Nintendo. They have no PC OS branch, so they either need to license the game to Microsoft or Apple, release the game on Linux, GNU OS, or FreeBSD, or create their own PC OS branch to develop an OS.

All three of these options create large problems. The first creates licensing issues, issues they wouldn't have to deal with with a console release. The second is a problem in the regard of an audience. I love Linux, but how many people do you know who run Linux, FreeBSD, or GNU OS? I don't know too many. The third option will cost A LOT of money, and probably wouldn't reach a large audience, and the PC OS market is pretty locked in right now.

Unless you own the original cartridge/disc which held an ISO/ROM.

Yes, because the best way to prove to people that Nintendo wants to push good online on the Wii would be to release their one heavily online game on PC.

So... it could be prettier if released on PC...? If they had intended for their games to be all that pretty, wouldn't they have released a more powerful console?

Re: PC-based Zelda OFFICIAL NINTENDO RELEASE!!!

it is true that Halo went from console to PC, but it went from XBox to Windows, XBox is from Microsoft, Windows is from Microsoft, so Microsoft is using his own thing to do it, Zelda won't be on PC unless Nintendo makes his own PC.

Re: PC-based Zelda OFFICIAL NINTENDO RELEASE!!!

I honestly don't see why they would make a PC Zelda game.

After all, they don't get as much money that way because everyone already has a PC. You wouldn't have to buy their next system to play their next game.

Any time ;0)

But yeah, I wonder if they would simply put out the old games. It would be a way for people who would normally (ILLEGALLY, though) get the old games for their PC using emulators to do is LEGALLY without having to search for an old system or find the special editions or even use the Wii-loads. Nintendo could make some cash off of that instead of it slipping past them on the (free) black market.

Re: PC-based Zelda OFFICIAL NINTENDO RELEASE!!!

As many have said before, THERE IS NO REASON FOR THEM TO DO THAT.

The Wii already has the power to have people play with others online. You know that, right? The new Mario Kart is going to have that, why can't Zelda?

And if you have not seen the Halo/Zelda mod on Youtube, do so now. It is awesome! I'll try and get a link to it.

Anyway, I want to be able to fight other people, not neccesarily co-op. I would snipe some people with my mad arrow skills.

So if they were going to do that (they should!) then it will be done on the Wii. 'Nuff said.
