Ocarina of Time doesn't need a remake, the entire series need some fresh ideas, and I did read in an article that the developers of the Zelda games did say that
TP and
PH might very well be the last Zelda games in the Zelda style we're familiar with. They mentioned something about realizing that the concept is in fact getting old, and that they're going to see if they can try something new. Hopefully, they will.
A Link To The Past and Ocarina of Time had a great lot in common with each other, as had Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, as had Ocarina of Time with Majora's Mask. In fact, Termina was just some parallel-world to Hyrule as most characters from Ocarina of Time return in the sequel - as very different characters, save for Link and the Happy Mask Salesman. I thought Majora's Mask was inferior to its prequel because it borrowed too much from its predecessor. And the one thing that captured me with Ocarina of Time, wasn't really the battles. It wasn't the story. It certainly wasn't Link's personality. It was music. Music played a rather important part in Ocarina of Time I found very satisfying, and it just completed the game for me. In the same way, I found Wind Waker superior to Ocarina of Time because, while the dungeons where indeed easier, I felt again the magic of music in the game, and the sailing was more than compensated with the fact that the combat gameplay was absolutely superior to that of the N64 games.
In addition, I've always preferred Young Link over Adult Link. Adult Link has never felt right to me, because despite him being cool and all, Link is supposed to be a boy, and this aspect I felt could've been developed more in Ocarina of Time; the fact that Adult Link was in fact, still a boy at heart, and it would've been really fascinating to have seen more of that.
I still consider Twilight Princess my favorite game because its atmosphere often made me feel powerful emotions. Like, whenever you came across Zelda, I would really feel nervous and anxious. Often, the dark atmosphere touched me with a sense of fright, and most importantly, I had fun playing the game. To spice it up, the music in Twilight Princess was beautiful. It didn't have nearly the same amount of nice tracks as Ocarina of Time, but small things in the game really made me feel nostalgic. Like, the provinces being named after the Goddesses. How basically the same places from Ocarina of Time are still persent in the Hyrule of the Wii game. I remember Sacred Grove being one of my favorite places, because it reminded me of Sacred Forest Meadow (these places ARE the one and same). I like it how you somewhere along these mysterious woods find the Master Sword (I think) similar to in A Link To The Past. Finally, the one thing that made me go "HECK YES!!!!!" was that Temple of Time this time around was a dungeon. Unfortunately, it had little to do with time.
I'm done rambling. Look at Resident Evil. It's GameCube remake is incredibly better. a proof that remakes can be better. But this game doesn't need a remake. Not until we have at least one new, fresh Zelda games on the shelves out there.
And, for the love of all that is impure and delicious, make the enemies and the boss battles harder. Especially the boss battles. MUCH HARDER.
