Re: The Futuristic Zelda thread

A future zelda like that would be cool, however, the story needs reworking to make it more pluasible.

Instead of link living in the future, he lives in the traditional hyrule. He attemps to destroy a sorceror (this would be the first boss of the game), who has taken over hyrule. However, right before link lands the killing blow the sorceror utters a spell that sends link 4000 years into the future, to the world descibed in this thread. In the future, the sorceror has control over the land (hes kept himself alive using magic), and link must defeat him to return to his own time.

Re: The Futuristic Zelda thread

I think this "future" zelda would work if both Link and Zelda were the great, great, great, (you know what I mean) grandaughter and son of the Link and Zelda from OoT. That connection could be what saves Hyrule from whatever evil is upon it

Is anyone else having "Samuri Jack" flashbacks. (For those wondering, Samuri Jack was a cartoon network series thats premise was a samuri who had been sent into the future by a demonic wizard, Aku, whereinwhich Aku was lord of the earth. "Jack" fought against Aku in order to return to the past and defeat him there.) Not saying your idea is based on it, heck, it'd be a cool game, I'm just saying that your idea reminds me of it.

Re: The Futuristic Zelda thread

I personaly don't think they should go for an ENTIRE futuristic game... I thought the idea of a futuristic race of beings separated from others would be AWESOME. Of course, they happened to screw that up with the OOCCA. T.T

How did the Oocca screw that up? They are an ancient race, not a futuristic one.

Re: The Futuristic Zelda thread

It would also be cool if Link could travel to the future from the "normal" time setting of Zelda. At least that way it would seem more legit

Re: The Futuristic Zelda thread

I love the idea,
I hope you know that as things become more futuristic, it becomes more of a FPS rather then an adventure game
Clearly the weapons would all need to be futuristic and depend on technology instead of magic

Gauntlets-How powerful can your weapons become before they start to hurt you

Tesla Rod-attacks multiple enemies with stunning electricity (need ER (electricity resistant) armor to not hurt yourself)
Heat Rod-One hit kill once fully heated
Tesla Boomerang-See Tesla Rod
Heat Boomerang-See heat rod
Gale Boomerang- Sucks things up in it and sends it into the air (mostly for grenade defenses)
Heat shot (long shot)-goes into anything using heat, expands and then cools down letting you use it on anything
Laser Gun-Fires a high powered light beam (Fully Automatic)
Sound Blast-Blasts enemies and objects around (higher hit radius then Laser)
Shrapnel grenades-Shrapnel bursts out of it, Some of it might hit you (frag and clear)
Implosion grenades-Hits only in a certain area (like the olde bombs)
Poison Gas-Only Usable with a Breathing Mask without hurting self

Sheilds
Reflective-Reflects Lasers
EA-Electricity Absorbing
HM-High Melting Temperature

For the Police Helmet-Have you ever played Zone of Enders? I would like it to have that sort of E-signiture detection also

Armor (can mix at the expense of speed)
ER-Electricity Resistant
Reflective-Lasers reflect but still might hurt you
HM-high Melting Temp (Heat resistant)

Yes, which is why I'm trying to be very careful about how the game will actually play.

To give people something they can drool over and dream about, this game will be made. I have another game project going first (the one in my sig, Project_Nayru) which I will finish first. After that one, I am hoping to take that team into 3D and make this game using XNA Game Studio 2.0. I am learning it right now (it includes a lot of coding).

Also sorry about not being here for so long. I went inactive on these forums for a short time. I needed to focus a little bit more on school.

I dont want a "futuristic" zelda. the currect time and setting of the series is fine the way it is.
That is not staying on topic at all. Please people, keep these types of comments out of this thread. This is not about whether it should become this or not, this is a discussion of how futuristic Zelda would look, feel, play, etc.

And formula1, I like those ideas for items (I actually might "steal" some of them). But I am trying to keep away from turning Zelda into an fps game. I want the same style of gameplay, with a new setting.

How was my statement not on topic?

This thread is called the Futuristic Zelda thread. Not the "How Futuristic Zelda would look, feel, and play" thread. I said something about a futuristic Zelda. Therefore, it stuck to the topic of the thread

Re: The Futuristic Zelda thread

I read through your story, and I have to admit, it does have potential. However, as much as an advocate as I am for the whole Futuristic Zelda idea, I don't think it should be set in such a sci-fi heavy world. Personally, I think a steam punk style would do well. I suppose that you could blend sci-fi and steam punk together, though. In fact, I think it would be better that way.

Just a thought.

I'll quote myself.

That's precisely what JanDeis has done: expanded on the idea. I can't see any reason why a person can't disagree with the idea of a Futuristic Zelda, but make sure you elaborate/state your reasons or it's just spam.

May I quote GliderPilotGirl's sig?

No matter when? I agree with this. It is still Hyrule, it is still Link and Zelda, and it is still about the magic holding the entire thing together at the seams. It just has a new sci-fi twist to it to add flavor.

Anyways, I do have a question about how this should work. I am playing tug-of-war with myself over the politics of future Hyrule.

Side A = Republic/Democracy Similar to what we have in America today?
Side B = Modern Monarchy like Great Britain has today (Parliament with all the power, King is mainly a figurehead)

Which should I use?

I'd go with the latter. It seems a lot more fitting.

Re: The Futuristic Zelda thread

If anyone is wondering why I went inactive again, I got grounded :XD

But anyways, Haunt, I was thinking the same thing. I think that would be what future Hyrule would be like.

Back on the weapons note: Lightsabers? Of course they wouldn't be called that, but a laser sword weapon to fit the future era?

Either way...

The Basics of Zelda Ought to be Remembered
FPS=Bow and Arrow
Strategy against blockers=Bombs
Multiple Enemies=Boomerangs
Best Defense=Sheild
Best Attack=Sword (When using heat, it would be a one hit kill, Electicity

Location Control/Quick Movement=Clawshot

I said this before, but I want to make sure you understand the ideas

-Heat-Blows Right through the enemies
--When used as a gun-Works at any range (laser)

-Tesla-Hits Multiple Enemies in area with electricity
--When use as a gun-Works up to mid ranges (Homing electricity)

Bombs
-Foam-Creates a wall, it can be lit on fire and burned away
-Tesla-Attacks things in area with electricity
-Flash-Blinds People

Clawshot
-HeatShot-Heated prongs go into a wall, it cools, then you can use it...
-Heat shots can also be used as electricity whips?
--If you want to make that happen...
---hit button once to make it go, hold it to reel it in a certain amount, or hit it to just make it go.

You think there can be faries that are instead baseball sized hovering robots that just follow you around and do different things for you?
-Like; one blocks targets it sees, one fires lasers, one blows away grenades

Climbing Gauntlets
-Ability to climb walls

Angry What I think of a futuirtic Zelda......

Sometimes ideas are spawned without previous thought.

Taking the whole fantasy setting away from Zelda makes the whole series lose its balance. It was never made to be Sci-fi, and although I am a huge fan of Sci-fi and Zelda, i would hate to see them mixed. It just wouldn't work. Maybe as a fan movie would I be interested to see it, if it's well done, but otherwise, let the Medieval theme stick to Zelda.

Thinking about flying cars in Hyrule just didn't settle well in my mind.

Well its gunna happen...
You think native americans wanted to see their lands turned into what they have become?
-Probably not...

But Whitee decided to kill em off and take the lands,
-So get used to the future... cuz its coming...
