In light of all the arguing going on: I'll quote myself.

However, right before link lands the killing blow the sorceror utters a spell that sends link 4000 years into the future, to the world descibed in this thread. In the future, the sorceror has control over the land (hes kept himself alive using magic), and link must defeat him to return to his own time.
That sounds too much like Samuri Jack and Aku.

I wouldn't really mind a futuristic Zelda game. It doesn't have to be space age futuristic, but MM stepped closer to a futuristc style and it did great.

Exactly.
MM was in fact a bit more...modern, but overall still felt medival.

I forget who posted this, and frankly, I am too lazy to look for the post, but it went something like this:

It doesn't suddenly turn futuristic, but rather it leaves a HUGE gap between this idea and past Zelda games. MM was understandable because it was a very small gap compared to the idea of space-age technology.

Anyway, I was toying with words and got this:

N.A.V.I.

"Navigational Assistant and Valuation Instrument" -- It would be the help system of the game and be built into the HUD (similar to Z-Targeting from OoT and MM) and the "Help" option.

I like N.A.V.I.

It could be a kind of walkie talkie, with someone on the other end giving info or whatever.

I too mysteriously "forgot" who posted this, but whoever said it is dumb.
They say a futuristic Zelda game wouldn't suddenly become futuristic compared to other Zelda games, but that it leaves a huge gap between it and other games.
Well, that's exactly the same thing.

N.A.V.I.???
Right....

No I dont like it. Why would we want Navi to come back, be it Navi herself or the name Navi?

It just seems like a stretch to include that in a game.

Re: The Futuristic Zelda thread

You're thinking too hard. You don't think about it that way unless you analyze it (which everyone against the future idea is). If you don't think about it, you would just find it somewhat comical.

It was you. So you changed your mind about that statement, or your previous statement was wrong?

Well, unlike dumb people, I like to think.
So does Nintendo, which is why no futuristic Zelda games have ever been made

Not the point. You are thinking too hard about the N.A.V.I. thing specifically, not the whole idea of going futuristic. Don't twist my words on me. We both know what I meant.

No I dont know what you mean.
Why should there be a "help" menu?
And besides, you're making it sound like Metroid when you mention an HUD...

Re: The Futuristic Zelda thread

Oh my god, you don't understand what I am saying at all. And why would HUD make it seem like Metroid? Zelda games have a HUD. It is just the information locked to the screen to tell the player what is going on:

-map
-health
-magic
-current items
-money

That is a HUD. I believe what you are thinking of is a more technical looking HUD, or maybe an FPS HUD.

EDIT: Also, there would be a help menu to, um, offer the player help? One major thing of the future is quick communication to get information whenever you want it. It is one of those little things that is so common, it is often forgotten. I'm just incorporating it into the game as the help system. Also, "help system" doesn't just mean help menu. It also means stuff like Z-Targeting from OoT and MM. Which I will also have, with a more modern twist...
