Aonuma Wants to Remake Link to the Past in 3D

Haha, OMG I just can't believe it, that would be nice. But I rather had LA remade in 3D.

Wow! This really saves me from the disk golf story!

Anyway, so apparently, the Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK interviewed Eiji Aonuma, the current development head for Zelda.

In the interview he says:

"I have to say though, the first Zelda game that I played and felt potential in was Link to the Past. I’m actually very interested in what it would be like if we remade that title as a 3D game."

I too would rather had LA in 3d, that zelda is pretty much forgotten, and it was one of my faforites

To me, it sounds like he's curious, but I don't know if he'll actually take the plunge in attempting it. When I first played OoT, I thought of it as basically a 3-D version of the NES games. The plot was different, but there were so many details taken from the original NES game that were plopped into a 3D platform. I think that seems to suffice. The idea is still nice though- a lovely find. ^_^

ya I know. But maybe they will put some new features in the game, who knows.

A 3D remake of A Link to the Past would be very cool... although I'd rather see a remake of OoT or MM, even if they're already in 3D.

Dear God Nintendo. Enough with the repetitiveness already! The last we need is a remake. How about actually creating something (relevantly) innovative in the Zelda series for a change? Instead of rehashing a game that's been the foundation of nearly every Zelda game after A Link to the Past's release. . .

FOR GOODNESS SAKES IT'S PRACTICALLY A REMAKE

Personally, if they're going to remake anything in 3D, I think it should be Zelda II. That game had some of the most engaging combat sequences I've seen in the entire series; if they could translate that to 3D, it would be glorious.

Link's Awakening would be nice too, though.

I'd like to see OoA and OoS remade as one game for the DS, where the same item in both games builds up instead, and passwords aren't needed. They'd have to mix and match some of the linked bonuses, but OoA>OoS would have to be the final setup. Plus, it would be cool if you could travel back to the previous world with Farore's help.

For example, after you got the Mermaid Suit in OoA, and then what was the Zora's Flippers in OoS, you would instead get the "Serpent's Tail" - allowing you to swim up waterfalls without Dimitri. And the Shovel, Power Bracelets, and Magnet Gloves would all level together into some "Titan's Claw" monstrosity that could dig through snow drifts, carry iron balls, lift totems...maybe even shoot magnetic blasts akin to Ricky's punches.

The three Roc's Feathers would level into the Roc's Wings, letting you hover like Moosh. You know, something cool like that. Instead of something where you have to play all of them 4 times to get everything.

If they keep going the way they have been since OOT, this won't be anything amazing at all. The next Zelda game is going to be "A Link to the Past in 3D" regardless.

ALTTP in 3D = OOT

Nuff said.

If they wanna remake a 2D game into 3D... DO IT WITH LINK'S AWAKENING

oot is not alttp

oot way before alttp in oot ganon is sent to the golden land where ganon makes it into the dark world

alttp is when a evil wizared sends 7 girls that are related to the sages in oot

so the wizard can break the seal so ganon can come back to the light world


you can see the oot is not alttp in 3d

It's obviously not exactly the same, but it might as well be. Nintendo rehash their stories and concepts so often that you can basically say every Zelda game is a remake of an earlier one. They take no risks, especially with plot. It doesn't help that plot is literally an afterthought.

Different plot -- Same formula

Obtain 3 Artifacts - Acquire Master Sword - Big Plot Twist - End up in Corrupted world - Save the Sages/Maidens - Defeat Ganon

OOT = rehashed ALTTP

I am of the opinion that aLttP doesn't need a 3D remake...OoT is close enough for almost everyone. If they were going to remake a game in 3D, I'd like to see them do it with either AoL (To make it more accessible; I never really got into it), or LA (First Zelda game I played!)

We don't need ALttP in 3D graphics.

Cool idea, but we don't need more repetitive Zelda games...

It would be a pity, actually, to waste time on remaking a game instead of making a brand new one...

I'd be interested if they would somehow clarify the story link between a remake and OoT, sorting out all this Seal War business.

The point still stands though, that OoT uses many of the Alttp elements already.

You may want to give Zelda Clasic a look. A lot of the games made for that use ALttP graphics.

If they were to make a remake of ALTTP it would be a total waste of a new Zelda game it would be like "hey we can't be bothered to make anything new lets just make an old one only in 3D" we already have ALTTP it was a great game in 2D we really don't need the same game again in 3D it probable wouldn't feel the same anyway and OoT was very similar to ALTTP. What we do need to see in a Zelda game is something unique and original. Which can't really be said for this post. Lolfus
