Re: Wii Zelda not in development?

Well if it's true that they haven't started on the next game yet then I don't see us getting it before 2010. It usually takes about 2 years to make a game, 3 years for a Zelda.

The gap between TWW and TP was 3.5 years and so was the gap between MM and TWW. The gap between OoT and MM was 2 years, but that's because they recycled so much... I don't expect that to happen again with the next Zelda. I can't see us getting it before 2010 actually, unless they already have started on it and are just telling us otherwise. Who knows.

About the OoT remake, it just makes perfect sence to me. I mean, it'd be another big selling game for the DS, the Mario 64 remake and Resident Evil remake did so well.. and it's the 10 year anny of the game.. and when I say the game, I mean THE game. Everyone knows that OoT is Nintendo's baby. Personally I'd be sad if they didn't adknowlodge the 10 year annaversery. It's not like Nintendo has shyed <--sp?) away from remakes and rereleases either.

Re: Wii Zelda not in development?

I think they are in the process of making a Wii Zelda but its just early days still, that's all. They are just chilling out, as it were. If a good idea gathered pace and things suddenly came together, then who knows but the chances are they want to try new things with the next Zelda and I'm all for it. I believe we will get it in possibly early 09 with a trailer/screenshots next year and it all depends on how much insperation they have to make a new game. Its all good hype anyway I guess.

Re: Wii Zelda not in development?

To be honest, I would like them to delay the next Zelda game until at least 2009. This is mainly due to the fact that the development team needs to become more accustomed to the hardware and the technology before they make a game as massive as Zelda Wii. I'd rather wait for a quality game than to have to live with an okay game.

Smile E3: Miyamoto on possibility of another Wii Zelda

The release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Nintendo Wii last December was the earliest a game in the long-running franchise had hit a console (let alone launched with one) in any of Nintendo’s hardware life cycles. Given that, many fans are anxious as to when we might see another Zelda adventure on Wii. The answer from Twilight Princess director Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo producer is this: it’ll be a while.

Will we see another adventure featuring link during the Wii’s lifespan?

Asked if Twilight Princess would be Wii’s last Zelda by IGN, Aonuma said, “I can’t say, but I guess for now, maybe, yeah [laughs]. Not to say that it’s going to be the final game. There’s still a lot of potential with the Wii so there’s still a possibility that there could be another Zelda for it. We do have some ideas in the works, but I can’t say for sure because none of them have been approved and we’re still very much in the planning process, so I hope you look forward to whatever comes out.”

Miyamoto elaborated on the likelihood of another Wii Zelda. “It’s really hard to say because we’ve never had a Zelda that’s appeared so early in the life cycle of the system, so it’s definitely possible that there would be another Zelda on Wii,” he said. “Of course, the challenge is that typically a Zelda game is something that takes three years to develop, so we’ll just have to wait and see.”

The pair went on to chat about the sales of the Nintendo DS’ zelda: Phantom Hourglass, which is selling amazingly well in Japan given Twilight Princess’ underwhelming performance: “The Phantom Hourglass has been released in Japan and reception has been very, very positive,” said Aonuma. “We’ve actually been able to receive feedback from the users and we’ll definitely take all of those comments into consideration when creating the next Zelda, whether it be for Wii or DS.”

Nintendo has previously stated that the next Zelda instalment would be unlike any that had preceded it, so fingers crossed it’ll appear on Wii.

Re: Wii Zelda not in development?

this is something i read on Thehylia:

Quote:
Q: Can you speculate at all about how many years it will take before the next Wii Zelda is out?

A: Actually, I've been speaking with Miyamoto about allowing developers enough time to creating something really quality. Just how long that takes depends on the project.
so i think they are already making another Zelda with good quality

Re: Wii Zelda not in development?

I'm glad that there isn't one being made right now. Making them that fast isn't really what everyone wants. TP only just came out less than a year ago now, and a lot of people probably haven't even played it, much less completed it. If the Zelda games were made that fast, then we'd have about 2 Zelda games every three years, which I think is really too much.

A couple of months ago, it was said that the next wii zelda game was already in development, and had been so for a year.
That was a rumor.

They are in the early stages of planning so it could have been half-right.

GameInformer made up that rumor.
